As a old german phrase says "Good think needs its time" So we can say that it will be released soon. Nearly 75% of the chapters returned back from my teammates to Mr-Murray and he´s busy with putting all this stuff together. I can understand you very much and I promise you that you will hold it in your hands (or got it stored on your HD.. ) before you turn to 65...lol.... No I cant define the exact day when we will release it, but it will be quite soon....promised....

Yep, and I am on my way as much as possible. The last thinks was corrected and added by my self today. The already layouted chapters where Mr-Murray was talking about are already on their way to my teammates in UK and USA. I am expecting their finalization within the next 2 days. I really apriciate your words and will say thank you for your patience. I hope we can give you some good news within the next days. Dont forget that the Deluxe Edition is not only a book for ArmA, its furthermore a milestone in ArmA Editing and the cornerstone for ArmAII.

LOL...you said 2-3 weeks, so I had the hope that you wont ask again before the 20th....but we really much should have a good news within the next few days...up to the time Mr-Murry needs to layout the few left pages....he´s pretty busy at the moment...please hang on a little bit

I am sure you will.... Cause of the celebration days it wasnt possible to proceed as planed. We also had some trouble due to the weather in the USA. So we had to move some dates to meet to finalze the project. But we actually finished now. The rest of the time will be used to become the whole content layouted. I´ll keep you posted about the release date....calculate with it within the first two weeks of the new year....

beside key controlls I am using the original radio sound from OFP. Thats just a addon which will be loaded up with my regular loaded Addons. That takes the most OFP feeling  back to the game....for me. But ArmA grew up to a good game. Playing is much funny, espacially online with my Squadron. ArmA has it´s own feeling. So for my opinion OFP and ArmA have finally seperated from each other and got their own flair, although I am using OFP sounds.

Hey dudes, I planed with my teammate in USA to finish the guide at upcoming weekend. That means Saturday and/or Sunday. We still have to check the updates from 1.02 to deluxe Edition of the 7th chapter, some contents (but really only a few) from the 5th chapter...and then we´re clear. I dont know whether we really can offer you the guide as X-mas present, but for sure, until Sylvester (Was meinst Du Mr-Murray?). When we both finished to check the contents of the guide, so it´ll take a few days until Mr-Murray has layouted these contents to the pdf file. When the whole project is done, so I translated nearly 340 pages of content for the 1.02 and deluxe Edition.  .  metal0130 also was checking all the contents (besides a little help from the UK, so thanks to MattRochelle). I hope that you´ll enjoy that guide and I also hope that you´ll create awesome missions with it. As Mr-Murray already pointed out, so feel free to coment any kind of recognized issues, whether there are gramma or technical issues. If any codes, scripts or what ever shouldn´t work, so feel also free to ask us right in this thread. You can also pm me if you have special questions or what ever. The image with updated graphics about the current status will follow tomorrow....

Status update I will give you a new status update. As you can see the status of some chapters has changed, so the 5th the 6th and the 7th are finally checked now and still need to be layouted again. The 11th chapter is still in process to be checked, but I think that this one will be finished pretty much soon as well.

A bit a long ago this post, but I nevertheless have to disagree. Espacially in the US Forces many female Soldiers are fighting in different roles right at the front, in the Air, on the ground, in Tanks aso. They are of course mostley beeing in support units like medics or somethings else like that, so far it´s correct. When I saw many womans in Combat suits in german Army, and female Soldiers while cooperative Combat Trainings with US Forces in Germany, there wasnt much a different between male Soldiers (espacially heavy equiped units), so werent it pretty easy just to recreate the faces to become the effect of a female Soldier in a Combat suite?

Let me answer please (sorry Mr-Murray ). The whole project was saved in pdf Format. Mr-Murray has used a program called Quark Express for the layouting process. This is a program to recreate the printing file for may be a publishing house. One can also extract the pdf file by using this program.  But he plans to get the program Indesign to recieve much better results for the ArmA2 guide. By the way, the ArmA1 Deluxe Edition is the cornerstone for the ArmA2 guide. The english Version has not yet been final layouted, that is currently still in progress. When I has translated the books (Version 1.02 and Deluxe Edition) then I was working with simple Word, but I used the layout used in the book, that makes it easier to layout it back to pdf. About the hidden question, when the guide will be available, so we set us the deadline of roundabout 3 weeks from now to announce the release and roundabout 4-max. 5 weeks to release the guide. I hope we can keep that plan. It´s also pretty much needed that the guide will be released now. To become it printed as shown in the examples above, so I unfortunatley have to say that therefor is a special publishing house needed, so this example has a total price of around 32 Euro which is exactly 40.37 US Dollar and 27.37 British Pound to get it printed as single examplar like shown above. A possible publishing house is lulu.com (just google for online publishing house for further ones) Once before, it was actually planed to get it released as already printed work anyway, but that would become much too much and so Mr-Murray decided to release it digital. That´s caused by a trouble between Mr-Murray and a german located Company where I am not allowed to talk much more about.

Well, I still have OFP next to ArmA installed on my drive. Why? Just to play it from time to time. And its still fun, so I can actually not agree to say that OFP is dead. ArmA was primarily made for MP I guess. When I play ArmA with my friends online, it makes much fun, as OFP does. When ArmA was released, it was actually a new game with all its child sicknesses known from other Games they were released (Gothic 3 lots of bugs in example), what made me wonder, cause BIS had a couple of years in expierinces to actually did it better. Today I know that they was need to release it in that bad status, just to bring it out to avoid bad financiall issues. They made mistakes supporting the community, but they fixed much of that while releasing the Patches. So I have the hope that this expirience will avoid getting the same problems with ArmA2 directly after release. The bugtracker never seems to be recognized as much as it actually had to be by BIS. The com has reported more than enough to handle with it. I created a nice MP Mission when the status was still 1.05 for MP and it took a bunch of fun to me and my mates, so far ArmA was and is a good game. But we always have to keep in mind that ArmA was never Game2. ArmA2 shall be Game2 and thats all I will put my expectations in. I hope that BIS has learned from their mistakes and will hopefully support the com much better and faster then they did with ArmA (related to tools, patches aso).

Hey guys, dont worry. But many works are often uncommented in the last times, not only in the BIS Forum, even in the german com as well. This happens to a lot of projects and to a lot of project authors. Each time when a big project was released, the only comments are like, how to install? How to make it work? How to do here and how to do there? Instead reading the extravagantly created readmes. Thats pretty bad feedback for hundrets of hours of work....for all addon authors, tool authors and manual authors. So I think that might be the reason for Mr-Murray´s little irritation. So far I agree him. But I also agree your wonder why he wrote this....but for sure, he´s not angry about the com...you can believe me that, it´s just the overall happenening!!!! The guide will be released within the next month, we´ll inform you so far we have a rough release date. The guide will then downloadable on the already known sources as there are our signatures, Armaholic.com, armedassault.info a.s.o. But I apreciate your recognition so far and will hope that you´ll like this guide. I will also leave a place for comments and error reports when we are close bevor release, to give you an additional possibilitie to inform us about issues we missed to fix.

Sorry, but the Photoshop paa plugin might be a nice slolution but is not rellay needed. What you really need is a Grapfic Program where can handle with layers. Gimp is as well working as photoshop does..OK..much more complicated but it works...I´ve tested it. This is only if you have a bad feeling to get it on the already known ways or even not enough money to buy it. To handle with the paa´s it´s pretty much working well by using TextView2. I always worked with it and it´s much more better to handle than the plugin in Photoshop. You also are need to create the bump and Normalmaps. This ones are definately needed (not to became it work but to give it a nice look). I´ve tested creating custom textures without those both kind of graphics and yeah..I brought my Field close to my House. into ArmA. But it looked pretty ugly. To create those maps just download the Crazybumb tool.. An amazing an powerfull one. One click is needed to extract the needed files. Currently I am on work though but when I am back home then I will take a look far that tool and give you the link to, I am sure I stored it somehwhere on my Webserver. The way how to create own textures: - make a photo and take it into a grapfic tool - resize it to 1024 x 1024 px. - go to your Island/datafolder and copy the exact name of all three needed files of each texture. - Save your texture with a custom Name and add the rest of the texturename (i dont really remain its current definitions but its like Mytexture_lco.paa or Mytexture_norg.paa. I hope y<ou know what I mean). -Then go to crazybumb and load it in there, extract the needed ones (selfexplaining) and get the normal, detail and the Bump map (they will all be saved as png) - Then go to textView and save all those pictures in paa. -built in your Island by usual way, thats it. (one way of may be a lot of more)

hmmmm...damaged handweapon? That would mean that each weapon needs further damage models which would have to be created at first. And additionally to this, the engine would need some more information about the behavior of a damaged Handweapon, so I think it was ... a) never planed and b) will never be planed to become such a feature realized. It´s also more sensefull to take out the unit which is carrying a certain weapon, instead to try to hit the weapon it self! Even if it really would be more realistic, in reality soldiers of oposing sites are always trying to hit the Soldier and not the weapon.... So I have to agree rundll.exe

Hey guys, good News... For my part I finished the translation today of the guide as promised in my last post. So all parts are now actually transformed from german into english language. We still have to work around with it a little bit to fix some grammas, translating around 4-5 subitems which are still missing and so on. But that should take only a few days, depending to the times when I can meet my buddy Metal0130 over there in the USA. After we did that Mr-Murray will start to relayout all that stuff to deliver you the new guide asap. I was very impressed about it´s contents. Espacially the Multiplayer Chapter will offer you a bunch of interseting Information. But all the other chapters are including very interesting Material next to the 1.02 content also. You will like it very much, I am pretty sure about it.

Hey guys, a new translation Status Report. I have worked a lot the last 3 weeks and can say that I am close to the goal. There´s only the Rest of the 7th chapter to get translated which will be done within today or tomorrow. Then I still have to to the 11th chapter. But I already have the expierience to get one whole chapter translated on one single weekend (on my work...but pssst). We still have to figure out what about the rest of the 5th Chapter. There are around 10 subitems not yet translated. Either I´ll do it after I finished the 11th or the actual helping Hand in our team will do it....I unfortunately cant determine it right now. So once my Job is done, My buddy over there in the USA still need to check that Stuff and Mr-Murray has to get all that information on paper....then it´s done. @Commando84: KillgOre already said, so no Warfare explanations can be found in this guide. That is too much complicate to get it explained here. But all the units, weapons and buildings are listed within the chapters.

What a program to create norm and spec maps are u guys using. I´ve found a post here in the forum where someone told somethings about crazybump. I tried it out and it´s amazing, do u already know this tool? get it here if you dont know this Some of my custom textures created with Crazybump Texture1 dry lake Texture2 Gras Texture3 Field The images above were all made with a 2 Mpix Handycam, so they actually could be better by using a good digicam...or how did u guys did that? And finaly a quick created snow texture (so the borderlines between the textures looks a bit ugly...but it´s just for testing) Texture4 Snow -

Hello, I have just created some textures by my self as well...but there are photographys only, so the end result is not as nice as yours. So I´d like to know whether you worked with specular, bumb and normal maps. If you did though so I´d like to know whre to get such a tool for my Photoshop from. I already got Kegeteys paa plugin, but not the needed one to create the specular maps. I´d apreciate it if you could tell me. regards Memphis -
Hey guys, as my headline says...I added some BIS models onto my Island and when I want to go to Buldozer then it says the this texture is missing... I have used mlodObjects also...but that takes no effect...any Ideas? Thanks for support Memphis
