Autorotation training: you've got to be kidding
memphisbelle replied to OMAC's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Erghh...are you sure that this is right way? I mean, I as well use pretty often the Mouse and K/B Combo, but in ToH I mostley use a HOTAS Stick since I noticed that just Mouse and K/B is not enough, comparing to default ArmA Flying. I´ll not gonna say that this is the solution, I also havent done the AR Training yet, But I could imagine, that it would work better with a Stick (doesnt need to be a HOTAS). According to your Performance issues, I need to watch my PC when I am giving it a try. -

memphisbelle replied to Blodhemn's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - OFFICIAL SCENARIOS
As already stated here about the usual game handling with BIS Products, please consider that Take on helicopters actually results of the try to implement a new Helo behaviour and advanced Engine for ArmA3. Take on Helicopters is the positive side effect for BIS to earn money (and it does really worth every cent I´ve paid) and for us to play around with new toys untill ArmA3 is released. The Campaign is just a little Bonus and the needed reason to sell the game. The main focus lies on the Editor and the MP gaming. -

Taxiing in ToH posible?
memphisbelle replied to memphisbelle's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
There are not much choppers (in Vanilla Game) which have the ability to taxi like fixed wings. The ones I am talking about is currently the Merlin and may be would be the Blackhawk. I know about Air taxi, which is quite usual for Helos with Skids, but all wheeled ones do sometimes taxiing to their take off / parking Position. -
email from Sprocket have to download again?????
memphisbelle replied to alien23's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
That´s because the downloader is reading the tempfolder which is reading the C drive space. That´s why I always assign 100 GB of HD Space for my C drive and the create partitions to leave windows and windows related tools only on C drive. You need to reassign a new location for your temporary folder. By default Windows is using the temp folder located on the C drive. So if there is no more enough space, you´ve got to your problem. So enter the environment variables over the controll panel and reassign a new path for the temp folder. If you´re not familar with this goolge for "environment variables temp folder path" or somethings like this. If you dont find anythings like this, contact me via pm. From that point I´ll release this post I´ll gonna be home in roundabout 2 hrs. So then I could directly help you. EDIT: what an OS are you running? -
How long till we these features in Arma
memphisbelle replied to hobojoe's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
Well, honestly, ArmA (in my eyes) has it´s most power in MP gaming. So I personally don´t care whether the ToH FM will be present in the campaign or not. Most important thing for me is that it´ll be the default FM in MP gaming. I also hope that the TrackIR will work properly in full 6DOF in ToH and later in ArmA3. -

Blakeace, your idea with the mapable key to assign to a certain button on a HOTAS Stick is fully supported by me. It is really more comfortable to keep a key pressed down on a stick rather than switching from Stick to mouse to enable the actionmenu to become the function enabled/disabled again. Only thing I´d like to ask is whether you plan to transform it into a scriptversion. It is way more an advatnage if this function is on clientside and not needed to take on the server. Additionally, may be you could adjust a little bit the values, cause the tail sometimes comes pretty much up and it seems that the fronwheels are constandly breakingt a little bit. Generally it is an awesome thing that is long years awaited. Thanks for realizing this. -

Hello Mandoble, I know about the thing that one need to getin before it works. This haven´t been my problem. Everytime when I pressed G key so my screen split into two sections where the right one turned to grey and the left one turned to white. This happened as lon as I kept the G key pressed. Once I havent loaded the Mando Missle Addon, it worked. But if your code example works so I´ll definately use it again. Thanks for your support. -

memphisbelle replied to blakeace's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Of course, as it sems it has a problem with Mando Missles. I deactivated it and it worked. I also have a bunch of Addons running These ones below are the Mods I run and your addon can handled them pretty well: + ACE2 + ACRE + Jaylib + BW_Mod (incl. AMT vehicles + yurapetrov´s SH-60 + USEC CH-53 + the Coastguard UH-60 + KSK and Delta Mod + Instand view Distance + GLT_Missile_BOX (incl. ACE Hotfix) + The Palladin Artillery Addon + ArmA2OA beta Do you plan to make it a script version? -

This is what I was thinking about. So I deactivated everythings exept your Mod and CBA. I as well deactivated Beta...now it works, so now I can search for the ceratin Mod which is disturbing on some way.. I have to agree, your Mod provides a totally different feeling...nice work and great Mod. EDIT: One question is left... is this a clientside Mod, or does it have to be applied on a dedicated server to run for everybode on the server? -

OK, I´ll gonna give it a shot without ACE I haven´t changed the gear accessing key, so it´s still the g-key. I read about the issue if the player spawns as Pilot in the helicopter, that he´d need to get out and get in again, cause of the getin eventhandler. In my Mission the Pilots do spawn outside the helicopter and need to get in. So actually I followed all your instructions, unfortunately it doesnt work. I start up the engines and once the ran on 100% I try to do as mentioned in the readme (W,S,X,C) and before that hit g key...expect the delay of a few seconds before functionality gets in.. But as I wrote above, no success...I´ll gonna try it out with Vanilla ArmA...if it is working so another Mod seems to be disturbing. -

Hey Blake, I got some weired issues on this.. At first my question. is this nice and handy script basically ACE compatible? All I get is a flashing screen while holding down the G-key. If I am nontheless trying to Taxi forward the Nose gets down and tail up as it does in ArmA. I placed the Module on the map, but it does not take any effect on the behaviour of Helicopters or Aircrafts. You got a solution on this already? Memphis -
Link to Marker in Notes no more supported?
memphisbelle posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hello there, I´ve been messing around since a couple days to figure out why my Notes wont get displayed as there are containing link to markers. I googled and searched the forums here and found some descriptions like this one which explaining quite well how to do notes incl. marker links. But they nontheless seem not to be working (anymore?). I tried out several things: 1st try: Is to use a normal marker link as I use in my tasks (where they are working quite fine by the way). <Key ID="STR_MIS_CT"> <English>bla bla bla bla<marker name=""BrfZone1"">marker on certain location</marker> and <marker name=""BrfZone2"">marker on another location</marker>as well as bla bla bla</English> <German>same crap in my language :D</German> </Key> Result: The notes Tab not displaying the respective stringtable entry but the very next one (what the fu** is going on here?) 2nd try: Is to use a marker link as explained as example provided in the tutorial I linked above. <Key ID="STR_MIS_CT"> <English>bla bla bla bla<marker name='obj1'>marker on certain location</marker>and <marker name='obj2'>marker on another location</marker>as well as bla bla bla</English> <German>same crap in my language :D</German> </Key> Result: All the text is gone...only things which is beeing displayed is the text between the Marker tags (what the hell.....?!?) 3rd try: Is to use no marker links in my nice Text: <Key ID="STR_MIS_CT"> <English>bla bla bla bla no marker used in this bla bla bla</English> <German>same crap in my language :D</German> </Key> Result: I get a nice Notes Tab displayed...but without any links. So please...what is this? I remember to be used marker links in OFP and ArmA1 a lot. Why are they no more working in Arma2...or is that cause of OA? If someone does have an answer on this I´d much apreciate this. Thanks and regards Memphis -
Link to Marker in Notes no more supported?
memphisbelle replied to memphisbelle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
You´re right...now were you´re mentioning that...I noticed the very first marker link while translating the first missions today...the ting is that I am not sure whether I´d recognize them properly as markerlinks as they are pretty much confusing. But now after I worked a little bit with those escaped symbols..ôve to admit, that these things are looking way more worse as they actually are. Wolle, you´d give me that advice much earlier...hehehe :p I now turned back to XML... next try: Issue solved :D -

memphisbelle replied to memphisbelle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
nice tool...but what exactly is the advantage of the XML Format in opposite the CSV Format, exept it is a new one? May CSV Formated Stringtables effect in a negative way on dedicated Servers? I can´t really see that point right now. -

memphisbelle replied to memphisbelle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
OK, now I got it. For all to clearify what Sickboy figured out....thanks by the way for making this a dev heaven ticket to solve the issue. <marker name='BrfZone1'>certain location</marker> Although I´ve really got to say, that I´d prefer the .CSV format nontheless, since I dont really see any advantage in the new XML Format. In opposite I see a disadvantage by having a more worse overlook on the already complex looking Stringtables. -

Issue solved. The notes are working now as they are supposed to. CSV is really still the better way... -
OK, you seem to be one of those guys who has less expirience with those things. So I´ll not gonna tell you everythings individually, but I´ll give you some things into your hand you´ll need to get respective expiriences. At first. Unpack PBO´s from already released missions and see how they did that. You can unpack them by following the first steps of the Visitor Guide (Terrain editing) by Atsche. read the first lines and you´ll see what you need. Search the newssides like armaholic.com or armedassault.info for missions to unpack. Put the unpacked mission folders into your Profile/missions folder and open them up in editor to see how they did. A further advice is to always use the MP Mission editor. Enter the MP Lobby and click on new (LAN is enough). Select an Island and open the editor (blue). So you can test your missions in MP environment as there are great differences between SP and MP missions. (you need to save before you can enter the preview) Mission editing in ArmA2 can be a pain in the butt or turning into an addiction...be aware. If you keep stock in somethings, dont search in this forum, use google for a specific search. This will mostley directly lead you into respective threads in this Forum. Use OFPEC.com to get advanced information according to mission editing in ArmA2. good luck and happy editing

As I said....Just initiate in the init.sqf. Means to copy all the tings I wrote and paste them into your init.sqf. If you don´t have one so just take a notepad and name it as such. In the Editor, get a Gamelogic and give it the respective name given in the beginning of the line. It´s actually quite simple...

haha...you´re kidding me right?...There has been a new thing beeing implanted just to be removed because the old one can do even better?...how silly is this? Anyways, thanks pretty much for this answer...I gonna give it a try. -
Thanks for that nice suggestion, I really found that entry in the first Mission of the campaign in the init.sqf lhd1 call bis_ew_fnc_createLHD; In the Editor a Logic has been placed called lhd1. @Arse, you can also use Xeno´s kind of LHD spawning script. Just open up his longest day mission. But honestly I like the one metalcraze has provided above much more comfortable.

If you´re a really beginner in mapmaping so you´ll have enough things in concern to care about. Follow this tutorial I provided above and try to reach a level where you can easily create an island withouit any trouble, I am talking of the 3D Island and its textures..not speaking of placing Objects on it. This should be the next step. But be careful...mapmaping can turn into an addiction...;)
