I would use Default for 1 GB+ of VRAM, but see what works best for you.
-
Yeah, I remember awhile ago in the earlier betas I was getting something around 3000 in ArmAIIMark, and now it's closer to 5000 with the same settings. BIS is doing a great job, here.

Half the FPS doesn't sound right. Make sure you have clean installs of the proper Win7 video drivers and such after upgrading.

Looks to be resolved in this beta, test it and see if you get the same result. There aren't always new changelog entries. Usually only for major issues fixed or features added.

One note from Suma in the CIT:

New Beta Build 71726 is up
MavericK96 replied to Batstat's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I've been wondering this, as well. Not really sure how much is necessary. Oh, and regarding page files in relation to the freezing problem, my page file is 6 GB minimum I believe, and I get the freezing issue, so it's not that. -

I just did some more testing, and running ArmAIIMark causes the game to lock up for me. It happens every time in exactly the same spot during Test 3 when you start to see the colored smoke popping near the tanks. I've reported it in this ticket since it is similar to the other issue I am having with lock-ups. http://dev-heaven.net/issues/11435 -

Just tested this, and as with the modified LAA .exe from the previous build, this build seems to fix the issue I was having here. However, sometimes after I Suspend a mission (such as the bmCoastalFlight benchmark) with this build, the game will lock up, and I am required to open Task Manager to close the program. Has anyone else run into this issue? EDIT: Posted a CIT ticket here: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/11435 -
New beta build 71548 up
MavericK96 replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Someone did, in fact, do a test with various settings and showed that Default used more VRAM than Very High. I will try to find the post, but it was somewhere in the forums. -

I already use Default, but that's good to know for other users who might have the same issue. I actually noticed that issue a lot even in 1.05, where High/Very High will have more LOD popping than Default, presumably because Default allows the use of more VRAM. -
I'll be using both. To be honest, even if you don't own ArmA2 right now, I see no reason not to get the Combined Operations, since it's only $10 more for both games. I already own ArmA2 and I'm getting it anyway.

New beta build 71548 up

I get the same. Also, I will notice in some instances where a building LOD will change and it will look funny because the low-quality LOD has different color/shadowing than the high-quality one, so the switch is very noticeable. Not sure what can be done about that, really, but I thought I would mention it since it's in the same vein. -

What do you guys mean by "LOD popping" exactly? Because I still get sudden shifts between low/high LODs as per the usual with ArmA2. -

Would it be against the rules to post the modified .exe file? Since there's no copy protection anyway, seems like it would be okay. I tried to figure out the binary editing and couldn't do it so it might be nice to have to test for people like me. -
Video Settings - 'Postprocess effects'
MavericK96 replied to jw custom's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
^^ That seemed like an unnecessary necro. On-topic, I typically have it either Low or Off, as a personal preference thing. Framerate-wise, I never noticed a lot of difference having it cranked versus off. -

Ahh, I missed that. I think I will just wait for the upcoming beta which will support it from the developers' end. -
This is very welcome news.

You have to modify the executable, which may (and in all likelyhood will) trigger the FADE copy protection. -
Same issue here. I think it's FreeTrack in general and not just this program, though, so it's a BIS issue.

This beta sounds amazing. Great thing to wake up to today. :D Will test ASAP. -
Pretty much the same results here. Also, I believe the "neutral zone" setting controls the dead zone.
-
No offense, but these settings are hardly "almost maxed". Your claim makes more sense now seeing your in-game settings.

My thoughts exactly. The next version of Windows is alleged to not even have a 32-bit version, so I think it's time. I think hardly any OEM PCs ship with 32-bit Windows anymore, either.

I'm not really sure about a dedicated server since I don't run one myself. I would probably just not set anything and let it do what it wants to do.

Did you guys report these in the tracker? Best chance of getting fixed if you do that.
