Make a CIT ticket? (or vote it up if there is one) ---------- Post added at 05:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 PM ---------- Oh, and did the recoil get tweaked at all in this release? I won't have a chance to test it until Monday.

High FPS....But: Stutter/ Input Lag/ Viewport Jitter etc

Yeah, it does seem like AA affects the framerate in this game a lot more than it really should. -
Devs time for a 64BIT version???

Yeah, I got the same thing, actually. Game didn't crash but it was annoying that it alt-tabbed me out for the message. -

With the GTX 460 out now @ $200, I would maybe check that out. It performs surprisingly well, and also I expect AMD/ATi to drop their prices pretty soon, because of it. -

Considering you're running an E8500 already (LGA 775), it seems like you could probably get a quad core that fits the same socket, making it so you don't have to buy a new motherboard. Also, most motherboards support more than 2 GB RAM, so all you'd maybe have to do is add some. What make/model is your motherboard, btw? -

It has a tab that says "New Issue" with a little green plus next to it. I admit there should be a separate "button" for this but overall I think people are making this out to sound way more complicated than it actually is. -
Default should automatically be exThreads=7 for you, and I would probably leave it at that.

Best Page File Settings for Arma2/OA
MavericK96 replied to pauliesss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Update: I did get a "low on memory" window pop up from Windows 7, telling me I was low on memory while playing. I decided to switch back to a small page file just in case, but the game never did crash. It kind of alt-tabbed me back to desktop, though, so that was annoying. -
Nice videos. Definitely not a super-stealthy approach, but it was fun to watch. Interesting that the AI didn't notice or care about the smoke grenade you threw, though. That definitely should be fixed in a patch. :p

With RAMdrive there may be some extra overhead involved, though. Honestly, I don't know. But what I said before is what I'm guessing. -

I don't see how it's "user unfriendly". If you read the instructions on how to properly format a ticket, it's not difficult at all. -
Best Page File Settings for Arma2/OA
MavericK96 replied to pauliesss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, before the latest OA betas and 1.07, I had been using about a 6 GB page file (basically Windows 7 chose the size itself). However, (I assume) after the introduction of LAA, I chanced turning off the page file entirely, and so far have not gotten any memory errors. I used to get Out of Memory errors when having the page file off before LAA, but now it seems to be fine without. I haven't tested this thoroughly enough to say for sure that it works entirely, but so far I haven't had any problem, nor with any other program. Running Win7 Pro x64 on 6 GB of RAM. -

Yes, USE THIS, PEOPLE! You can report bugs here but if you don't post them to the CIT along with crashdumps and/or report files, there's really nothing BIS can do about it. -

MavericK96 replied to Hawk Firestorm's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
It makes sense...probably forcing the system to use more RAM rather than page file? I've also turned off my page file since the latest betas/1.07 and haven't gotten any sort of errors related to memory (driver crashes sometimes but that happened before I turned off the page file and is GPU-related anyway). -
Yes, BIS' commitment to the community is utterly unmatched in the gaming world. Great work, guys. :D

Offload more work to GPU?
MavericK96 replied to pauliesss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I think this is a better idea. I've definitely seen where my cores are not fully utilized by the game (i.e. ~50% utilization on all 4 physical cores). -

MavericK96 replied to Hawk Firestorm's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
It may be because you have 4 GB of RAM versus my 6 GB, but after the latest OA betas and ArmA 1.07 I've been able to disable the page file with no ill effects. My guess is that enabling LAA has made the game more stable with no page file. -
I guess, in a way, it makes sense to be able to hit targets while prone with a LMG because of the bipod, but assault rifles don't have that. Still, you can rest your arm and fire while prone so it should be similar, plus the recoil in general should be less anyway. So yeah, the assault rifle recoil still needs some tweaking.
-
Yeah, people keep saying that Default is for "extremely large" (i.e. 1.5+ GB) VRAM, but that's simply not true. I think it's more like Very High is for 256 MB and Default is for 512 MB+, or possibly 512 MB and 1 GB+ respectively. In any case, Very High does not utilize all of my 1 GB of VRAM.

Operation Arrowhead performance optimizations/comparisons
MavericK96 replied to jpinard's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Probably a 5850 TBH. SSD is nice but you won't see any real framerate improvement, only a difference in load times and LOD swapping. You might even want to look into upgrading to a quad-core processor as well, and get at least another 2 GB of RAM. -
Yeah, I noticed this problem as well in stock OA. Beta, I haven't noticed it yet, but like you said it seems to happen under a specific set of circumstances now which I may not have noticed yet. Haven't had the 2nd issue (Low LOD) but I've had slow-changing LODs before...Just something I've learned to accept in ArmA2, lol.
-
I haven't had this issue since pre-1.07 ArmA2, and interestingly enough, I've even disabled my page file recently (usually this would throw tons of Out of Memory errors) and haven't gotten a single error (with the latest OA beta).
-
Yeah, I don't know if it's been altered in ACE or not, but I was playing some ACE Combined Operations earlier and, using a PKM while prone, the recoil was totally manageable. But then using other assault rifles, even while prone, the recoil seems unbearable. Just needs some tweaking, IMO.

Yeah, so far pretty good, though I've gotten a couple of driver crashes. I managed to play on an ACE2 OA server for quite a while beforehand, though. The crashes seem to happen most often when I zoom in/go to ironsights, possibly somehow having to do with the sudden LOD shift? Not sure. -

Have you tried turning off Hyperthreading in the BIOS?
