Small team, low budget I think. Haha :D Not all DLC is that bad. I gotta admit though, only DLC I ever bought was for Deus Ex 3, and when it was half price. Wasn't half bad actually.

Higher detail content in modern games is much more expensive to make... Although Codemasters trying to charge you for cars that you can already see your AI opponents using against you from day 1, that was low (Dirt 3).

I see. But I can see aliasing on that GTR 3 screenshot, mostly on the edges of the car under the spoiler and the top of the car. Sure that's super AA? That barely looks better than 2xMSAA there. Or FXAA. Hopefully they went with a deferred renderer for some nice lighting effects. (Or maybe I'm just seeing JPEG compression...) Yea I know Simbin's tricks with some screenshots have been downright shocking, even adding fake smoke effects in some. But we all knew the game looked dated from videos anyway. At least now they shouldn't need that crap, Race Pro was an ok looking game and that was a much older version of their Lizard engine, so GTR 3 should look good. I wont expect it to match Project CARS though, those guys have a serious advantage from EA practically funding their tech with the Shift games. -

Super AA? Is that a fancy way of saying it was taken at a higher res and scaled down? It's common to play games at 1080p, and that pic is much smaller than 1080p... Taking that into account, there is nothing "too good to be true" about the sharpness. That all depends on your resolution and AA settings. If you have a powerful PC you can do that in real-time anyway. Also one more upcoming race sim that hasn't been mentioned here, Asseto Corsa: http://www.virtualr.net/assetto-corsa-first-development-update From the makers of NetKar Pro. Small team, so amount of content will most likely be tiny. But it looks damn good. Project CARS is still under development and that includes the physics. They just added a new FFB system in the other day which IMO is really good, though still WIP. Dynamic conditions are in the plans but rF2 does have that as an advantage for now. Oh no not this elitist crap again Less grip and harder driving = more simulation for some people. Load of crap if you ask me. I've seen iRacing physics take as much criticism as any other sim, it's overpriced and overrated. GTR 3 pics are confirmed to be unedited. They have a new engine now so their games shouldn't look crap any more. No, just submit your email on the website. No telling how long it takes or if you actually get in though. Some people waited months, I waited a week. -

MP isn't in the builds yet but one of the devs dropped a hint that it might be in soon... New FFB system just got dropped in though, needs some tweaks but it's pretty good now. Despite being WIP it's good fun, playing a race sim with modern graphics is quite something :) You can pay more for a lifetime membership. It's also putting me off though, might buy it when they get more content in and sort out the problems but after playing pCARS those rF2 graphics are... :( How could PC gamer forget to mention it? :butbut: There's a screenshot here: http://www.virtualr.net/gtr3-lots-of-p45-competizione-previews Looking good :) I'm also in the beta for Auto Club Revolution. Got an extra beta key if anyone wants it (Edit: Given it away now). There's an NDA so I can't share my impressions though. -
Then they are more fluid, not "arcade". Having clunky animations is not "realistic"/"simulation". Can we bunnyhop too? It does not make perfect sense. It's just the way some "hardcore simulation players" describe anything that's different and I get annoyed with it. "Arcade" is not an adjective :) Are you telling me that magical hand waving to reload weapons is "simulation" and properly animating it is "arcade"? :p Hope we get some actual official info soon, everyone getting excited over this just shows how desperate we are :)
-
Because there are people that make up stories to their friends to make themselves sound cool. I've met some losers like that. Not making accusations, just saying it happens. WTF is this supposed to mean? Hate it when people think "arcade" is an acceptable way to describe things like this. Makes no damn sense.
-
Or they could represent countries besides the US where licensing is cheaper... Which would probably mean fewer sales  Obviously not. But you need Hummer and Lockheed Martin. Changing the name and removing logos isn't always good enough. Most companies will ignore that but there is still the possibility if them taking legal action. Games like GTA4 have to change the cars to the point where they hardly resemble the real ones. It would suck if that happened here seeing how important realism is for the ArmA series.
-
Kill me please. But seriously, this could be a major problem for every combat game including the ArmA series. Guns, humvees, tanks, planes will all need to be licensed and it will end up just like race games where only the really big budget projects can afford the major licenses. And they will be able to have restrictions on the license. Car manufacturers have varying restrictions like no damage the affects the driver, Ferrari cars cannot be outclassed by competitors, exhaust smoke cannot be depicted realistically ect. You can't put a Humvee in a combat game with those restrictions.

At least an end to the hostilities and oppressive laws would be a start. They can still function as two separate countries. Although it doesn't look like that will happen. Still a bunch of power crazed people in charge there.
-
Except that their forces would run out of fuel on the way to the US and they would have to ask for food aid :p

Combat sure looks awesome. Hope the story holds up to the Max Payne standards. Still got my Max Payne avatar. It's a screen from the very first game in 2001 :)

Yea but it can be handled in a different way that actually gives the player some control. A little more budget on the animations so you at least see it being dodged/deflected. Why do RPGs not bother animating things that simpler arcade games do? If it hits them visually, then it should mean that you actually hit them. Just have it deal less damage. It should rather be: Luck is for board games and gambling, not big budget video games. So much advancement in graphics should come with advancement in gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally hating on the game. I just think this could have been done in a better way that would make combat more enjoyable. -

I know how it works and what it's supposed to simulate... But in the end when you stand there and see your character repeatedly swing the sword at an enemy and nothing happens, it's frustrating and looks stupid. If you cannot hit someone from behind when they can't see you, you are retarded :p Nobody can be as useless with a sword or knife as your starting character in Morrowind, who can't even land a strike on an old woman from behind with a knife. Dice rolls are for board games. I expect better from a big budget video game than having your characters fate based on total random luck. -

One thing I hated about the previous two games was how awful the combat was. I figured I would give this one a miss because it would just be exploring more repetitive areas and swinging swords at people and missing them half the time. After watching some footage, I'm actually tempted to get it... -

Gameplay will probably be similar to R6 Vegas. The mainstream console crowd loved that. I just hate that f**king 3rd person cover system. Would rather have normal lean... -

I'm kinda disappointed because I was hoping for a good single player experience. I'll still keep an eye on this.

Must have been tipped off about a rich foreigner. I lived in Durban most of my life, that never happened to me... Maybe it's the way I drive, they can't keep up :p You get into a habit of taking certain precautions when you live there. Not walking around at night, never flashing fancy cellphones or jewellery, not hanging around your car in public for long (hijacking), making sure you are locked in the car when going through town... Have friends and family who have been robbed at gunpoint and even shot. I've been lucky. That's the image they try to project to the rest of the world. It's bulls**t :) -

Parts of SA are nice to live in. As long as you don't pay much attention to what is going on in the background... Can't really complain about my life there. But I wont hang around and wait for something to happen, constantly having to worry about crime and other bulls**t just isn't worth it. -
Why do you think the game will track every civilian? That would just be stupid. It's a game, you fake it.
