Oh yea it's real easy to get a large publisher to agree to publish your game . You think they would simply ignore a large section of the market? They can't get the game out there unless a publisher agrees to publish it. Even if they can't get a publisher, there will still be Sprocket for the online distribution. Maybe Steam aswell - some games are on several online distribution systems. Maybe if Americans bought realistic games instead of Battlefield then the publishers would be happier to sign up for ArmA .

The hotfix was mainly meant for the German Securom issue, and the game hasn't been out for that long. Remember that patches for OFP had some major changes - new vehicles, missions ,features like eventhandlers which did alot for mods and many new scripting commands.
-
Well you're wrong. Sure more people play Battlefield 2 since it's simple. Lock-On was popular enough to have 2 expansions (one of which was a helicopter sim). There is Falcon 4, the new MS Flight Sim X. Also you can buy many addons for Flight Sim 2004 and now Flight Sim X is also getting addons. They make money otherwise they wouldn't be made. Same goes for Race Sims.

Man are you serious???

I didn't check your nick before I posted that, I've seen some of your work before . As far as I can remember (long time since I played OFP), when the player changed combatmode via the command menu it would change the combatmode of the selected soldiers, but the player himself would not change (since you don't give yourseld orders ). So when you used the combatmode command it would return the combatmode of the leader (in this case, the player). The combatmode of the player is determined by what he does - put your weapon on your back and after a few seconds it will return "safe", equip your weapon and it goes to "aware", and shoot/crouch/go prone and it goes to "combat". I did alot of messing around with this at one stage, getting a squad to raise/lower their goggles depending on their combatmode. It was for a mission which I never finished.

Sure you're using the setCombatMode command correctly? http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setCombatMode

@Sled88 - Did you download and install the patch? It is suppose to increase performance.

If Universel is correct then this is not a minor complaint! You maybe happy with using the keyboard but many of us are not and it will impact greatly on how we play and enjoy (or not) the game! Well if having to use a keyboard instead of a mouse for jeep and trucks ruins the fun in playing military action game for you, then fine .
-
Well I always used a keyboard for ground vehicles so it's fine with me . Why do we need a whole new thread for every minor complaint?

Like I'm going to care about this discussion when I have the game . Then I can finally stop playing GRAW online.

Ouch! Thats what i had a few years ago believe it or not, 2Mbit is one of the slower connections one can have around here. it's not "true" 2Mbit but DSL meaning 2Mbit download and less upload (not sure about the exact number there). btw: the first file just finished Well it's a similar story with 384k ADSL . 4Mbit is on trial in South Africa, officially it's 1Mbit but all 1Mbit customers are running at 4Mbit as a trial. Of course 1Mbit is damn expensive here so 384k is the smarter option. Apparently the 4Mbit connections are very unreliable atm. After being on a 56k modem just months ago I'm happy with 383k . But now it's starting to feel slow . Next year things should start changing here.

3500m sounds good . Some overclocking should get it higher. As for the hellfire, well I don't have the game so I can't help you. I saw another post somewhere saying that it was bad at tracking targets, so I guess you're not alone.

1. Im using only available vids i cant create my own cause i dont own game yet. 2. BIS has implemented many many things in ArmA, hovering tanks ( after bridge destruction ) and boats that can travel on the ground are amongs them. I know one thing if Bis wount change few things in patches I surely will disable crosshair and will use weapons addons that will disable this ridiculus zoom. 1. Okay well I don't have it either. 2. Yea but those are not intentional, and how often would tanks be parked on a bridge anyway? If they were moving or tried to move the physics engine would have been active so they would have fell. It's part of a performance saving feature all physics engines have, although the negative results can be fixed by having the engine check the vehicles every so often - maybe in a patch. As for the boats, well atleast if you get your boat on land by mistake then you can get it off . Again, maybe in a patch. I'm not going to bother explaining the zoom any more, if you don't get it by now then I don't care - I've explained enough. You haven't actually explained what's wrong with my argument, all you say is that the zoom is ridiculous. Crosshair is optional but in MP hopefully most servers will disable it.

How to play CZ/GER version completely in English
Maddmatt replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
The V1.01 patch is replacing the download version exe file with one that requires the DVD, so duh it's not gonna work. Also, do you guys not bother checking the version number to see if the download version is already V1.01? It is already V1.01, so you don't need the patch! -
Nahh You are right it doesnt zoom in that much Well if you think it makes seeing distant objects too easy then you need glasses. Obviously zooming in and out isn't going to look realistic, but seeing distant objects on a monitor properly needs some kind of workaround. You videos and pictures only show the zooming on something which is already close to the view, not on distance where it would be needed. BIS put this feature in the game, so obviously they don't agree with you either .
-
Your PC is pretty close to mine, can the view distance go higher without causing slowdowns? What is the highest you can go while still running smooth? Your complaints have been mentioned before, you'll just have to wait for the patch. Also, a 1.01 patch is out so remember to use that unless you got the download version from Morphicon which already has it.
-
It doesn't zoom in that much. As I said before, in real life it is much easier to see things at a distance than at the default FOV in ArmA, zoom compensates for that. That zoom level was also in OFP, it hasn't changed. And no you clearly haven't figured it out .
-
I never even noticed that, I have no clue if it's any use but maybe some kind of distance marker. Like if an average person looks that wide through the binocs then he is a certain distance away. Just a guess, maybe someone has a better idea. Maybe it's nothing.
-
Only 2 mbits? Man I can only dream of that kind of connection! It's only going to take a few hours and you can do something else like watching a movie. On my 384k connection I'm happy to see 40kB/s. I wonder when we'll have an English version available on Sprocket, although I would prefer to own an original English version so I'll just have to wait for 505.
-
Look on the previous page.
-
The "stupid ironsight zoom" it to compensate for the low resolution of PC monitors compared to what you see in real life. The monitor doesn't give you the same FOV as you have in real life so it is normally zoomed out to compensate, and the zooming in is to compensate for the lack of ability to see things at a distance - caused by the limitations of a PC monitor. Is it really that hard to figure that out on your own?

Things that Flashpoint could and Arma not
Maddmatt replied to Silver Surfer's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Something else? Then what is it about, because it looks to me like you are complaining about a control scheme which you can actually change. I don't see how this thread is about "Something else". -
Well they can be part of this project then, with the help of BIS it should turn out better.

I hate all these spamming whiners. At least they have the game, the only game even worth spending the money to buy at the moment. Most of the other recent games suck.
