The news about ArmA has been removed. Hopefully it is still true though.
-
It replaces your last retry point, which isn't always what the player will want.
-
Good news .
-
It takes a few seconds for you characters eyes to adjust to the change in lighting. If however it's staying like that then there's a problem. In which case I can't really help.

Ahhhhhh bad news. I tested the alt4+f4 trick, but!!! the game is autosaved right before exiting to windows. Alt + Tab then use Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it. If that wont work then you'll just have to reset your PC! You could also kill you character by grenade/satchel charge suicide or get an enemy to kill you. Why do you want to do this anyway?
-
You're a genius!!! I know .
-
That was good . Now make another .
-
Oh thanks. And do you know how to disable the autosave when aborting the mission? Alt + F4 is the only solution I can think of.
-
I think he means the logos when the game starts up. Add -nosplash to the command line of the ArmA shortcut.

I'm no 3D modeller, so I don't know what it's called. View LOD maybe? For the smoke, I don't think the individual smoke particles block the AI view, that might have quite a performance hit because it will also need to take the transparency of every particle into account. Probably an invisible object that blocks the AI view just like some MODs did for OFP (like JAM).

Viewdistance only 2000? In another topic a guy with a 7800GT manages 3500 while still running smoothly. Sure you can't push it higher? If you can't then maybe by dropping the resolution a bit you could manage something like 6000 at least.

i'll look into it some more. but yeah im on newest drivers, AA isnt forced in drivers (which look really naff by the way) not a virus or spyware, but ill do it anyway. i know its not normal performance ! every other game runs really well, even at 1440x900 res, and in most games with a high AA setting. Surely i dont have to stuggle along at 800x600 res with a blurry tft screen ? - i havnt used 800x600 for any game in years. I'm not convinced its a step forward in graphics is anyone actually running at a nice res ? i.e 1440x900 at 16:10 aspect ? short of SLI, im not sure what i should do. This Or This I don't think the graphics card is the problem, I've seen posts by people with a 7600GT that ran the game fine on medium to high settings. It might be a software problem. Try turning hardware acceleration on/off in sound options or try slightly older drivers. I don't really know what the problem could be but I'm pretty sure that the hardware can do better.

It's an LOD, part of the model.

There is no such thing as a Nvidia 9800. Also instead of "default settings" try lowering them. Also lower the viewdistance. Texture detail at low apparently makes a huge difference for some. its a 7600 256mb sorry (gfx card numbering has got really confusing really fast) with patch (and language conversion if that matters). if i lower everything (as in lowest or off) it does run at 1440 res at a half decent rate. but it looks really, really bad. I'm a bit worried because this is just running about in a fairly open area, im scared what will happen in a heavy fight. was a bit let down, because id heard how arma was meant to be less heavy on systems due to some new map loading system and engine optimisations. -- lost faith in that really. either way, people with TFT's (esp widescreens) must be hurting trying to run this at proper resolutions. not trying to turn this into a troubleshooting thread -- im not really playing until my friends get the game (in 2007 to god knows when). Other people with that card have managed to get good performance on medium to high settings. Try different drivers, check anti-aliasing settings are not set to 8xS. Try turning off transparency anti-aliasing, although thats probably not it. Run a virus and spyware scan and check you haven't got any background apps using too much resources. That is not normal performance for those specs, something isn't right.

Because 505 said in an interview that it might be out by Feb.

If you had used a decent download manager then the corrupt and incomplete downloads probably wouldn't have happened. Or at least it would tell you if the download couldn't be finished.
-
Well maybe if the complainers would rather be more helpfull and mature instead of spamming the forums and whining, nobody would call then complainers and get annoyed.
-
This will probably get locked though.
-
ArmA AI is controlled by FSM files which are fully modable, there is no need to use scripts for the AI.

Your trolling is growing very tiresome, if you have nothing constructive to say on these forums then clearly your time here has come to an end and you should go find something better to do. So what should i do about a game i have bought and now cannot play it more than 5 minutes? Take it to the troubleshooting forum instead of whining everywhere and irritating everyone, that is not the point of this topic. That would increase your chances of finding a solution.

I highly doubt it was scripted in the mission. This bug was not in OFP so hopefully it will be fixed in a patch.

Well boats wont blow up in water. The water has the same effect on vehicles as it did in OFP. Submarines are possible. Boats aren't underwater though are they Matt? I am thinking there might be a script that increases damage to any vehicle beneath the waterline. I hope there is a property that can be set in an addon's config.cpp, to say "do not take damage when underwater". EDIT: How did the OFP subs do it? The subs were "boats", just further down under the water. There is no "script" to damage vehicles under the water, the Engine doesn't run on scripts - that's just for mods. It's part of the engine. If a vehicle isn't meant to go into water (like a jeep), the water will destroy it. If it is meant to got on water then it will float at whatever height it is suppose to (like under water for subs). Even if you shove a boat or an amphibious vehicle under water, it's just gonna float back up. Vehicles (at least in OFP, I can only speculate with ArmA) don't need to be completely under water to take damage. When the OFP BMP floats in water, that same level of submersion would destroy an Abrams but does nothing to the BMP.

Well ArmA doesn't make "Halo money" either. It's more realistic than most FPS games and that is one reason is isn't as popular. Sure making ArmA chopper handling as realistic as a sim would be too much, but it's nice if it's atleast semi-realistic (like what it's suppose to be according to interviews). I haven't played ArmA so I don't know what the heli control is actually like. Besides, difficulty settings are the best way to increase the appeal of the game to more people. So those who don't like the handling to be realistic can turn settings down.
