Which French one? This one? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5989683749063371667&hl=en You made this video ?! That is a trailer BIS made, it's old news.

Turn Vsync off in your graphics driver settings. I have a 7800GT slightly overclocked and I don't get mouselag on mostly the highest settings. Don't put AF above low and put object detail on normal.

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?
Maddmatt replied to evilnate's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
It says "Last Post by: Maddmatt" on the topic but my last post wont show . This is the second time. This post should make it show. Edit: And it worked . Again. -
That's got nothing to do with the mouse lag people are having. The problem is the graphics settings.

Well I am glad for you. If it works for you obviously its not broken. I did use the word "mostly" perhaps you're one of the few form whom this game works perfectly. For me it was frustrating not being able to access a server, dropping servers, severe farmerate hits, laaaag, random crashes. etc. I have 4 gigs of ram a year old graphics card and a 64 bit processor that runs everything and i mean everything smoothly, except this demo. I just lock my server and play by myself. That gets borring after the first few days. Well yea most of the servers suck. You need to search for a decent one. -
If you have problems with mouse movement, lower graphics settings. How on Earth is this worthy of a huge thread?

What do you mean? I played the demo and the MP seems to be fine. Maybe you played on slow non-dedicated servers. Well there are some people that play like total idiots but that isn't the games fault . But what on Earth do you mean 'broken'? It works for me. -
It says in the readme that you shouldn't use this new *.exe for clients, so you only use it if you are hosting.

Because they suck at flying? It just takes practice, it's not bad. I flew around a bit in a blackhawk and it flies pretty well. Will try the Mi17 later. Edit: Romolus does have a good point.

How is it a problem for people if they are fine with it?
-
You could have left out the first half of the video, since it was just a waste of time. Flight model looks fine to me, you tried a barrel roll and fell to the ground. What is the problem? You think just because an aircraft is big that it's impossible to roll it?

Played the demo a little. With all settings maxed at 1280x960 and 'normal' AA it runs smoothly. And the HDR is fine, no problems there. My specs: AMD 64 X2 3800 1Gb DDR400 ram (2x512) Geforce 7800GT UI is a bit annoying, with all the load screens.

Ah, thank goodness it's not just me experiencing this. I was on a server trying to explain how everything goes a blinding white or stupidly dark as I move around, but all the guys on there had no idea of what I was on about. I have my gamma and brightness settings as low as you can get them to, also. Any ideas, anyone? Try messing with gamma and brightness, try turning them up. I think it was Suma who said that the HDR is very sensitive to those settings It might just be a driver issue, I know some Nvidia drivers have had issues with HDR in games. Try messing with brightness and gamma first.

We need that for ArmA

I think the physics would be changed in the ArmA.exe, so no. Maybe in the config the handling could be changed but the physics are still different. I don't see any reason to bring it back though. By the way I like your sig . Sadly true.

Same as real life. Unprotected tanks are sitting ducks. But AA soldiers and vehicles even it up. That's why teamwork is important - you can't have everyone doing the same thing.

The old flight model is gone for good, BIS made the game a bit more realistic - get used to it. It's still not a full blown simulation anyway. If you suck at flying choppers then just practice - if you don't like flying choppers then do something else. Many of the posts here show that people like the new flight model, and when you consider that it's the unhappy people that tend to be far more vocal then it looks like the majority is happy with the new flight model. If you prefer your games easy then there are plenty of those games around like the Battlefield series. Seriously, practice. Once you get used to it you will be happy. Besides, it keeps the unexperienced players from turning into killing machines when they take to the skies.

You can't port OFP animations into ArmA. They have different animation systems.
-
Or you could click start->search to find the setup.exe.
-
Getting BIS to make features for addons is a bit dumb IMO. I think it would be better to ask for animation tools to be released so addon makers can make their own animations.

Moving a joystick is not alot of effort and takes a few seconds. It is more fun to fly with a joystick and more immersive. All you need to do is move the mouse to one side and lift the joystick over it to where the mouse was. I don't see the problem here. A steering wheel on the other hand is more effort and does take more time to move - since it clamps to the desk.. I flew in OFP with a joystick and had no problem switching. I own both a steering wheel and a joystick so I know what moving them is like. If the cars in game handled better maybe it would be fun with a steering wheel.

The many release dates are because of many different publishers for different areas. 505 sent out an email to some people with the release date, look on http://www.armed-assault-zone.com/ and http://www.armedassault.org/. The one says the 16th, but the 17th was mentioned more often.
-
Yea, switching between keyboard and mouse doesn't take long if you have your joystick right on the table. I did it for OFP just fine. As for using a steering wheel on cars and trucks - well if you really enjoy driving them around that much with their horrible handling in the game then go ahead . You don't need the precision as much since you usually just use them for transport, and moving a steering wheel is a lot more effort than a joystick.
-
Not if you used a joystick in OFP. And it's not ground effect, it's like a hold-alt autopilot. Ground effect really only happens when you're hovering very low and it doesn't have a huge impact, perhaps like a 10-20% increase in lift. At speed, the rotor acts somewhat like a big fixed wing, the air flow hitting it generates lift. Choppers do roll and loop if the pilot is crazy enough to command such maneuvers. So what you are saying is that while having a serious conflict i must then switch to my joystick and then back to the keyboard ? I have never heard of any game where you have to do this. That makes your response time cut down by minutes. I have never used my joystick for any game except simulators and i dont intend to now. What exactly did we download ? After all the bitching the choppers are still unflyable at extreme speed during any dog fight in rear / cockpit view. OFP was perfect - BRING IT BACK He didn't say that you must use a joystick, the helicopter physics are not going to suddenly change into something completely different. Also, why on Earth would you use a keyboard when you have a joystick? OFP choppers were far from perfect. It wasn't realistic.

February 17 is what they said.
