Do you think it's necessary for BIS providing lockable binPBO?
mr.peanut replied to ffur2007slx2_5's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Ugh! What an ugly debate! Sure you should have the choice to encrypt your work, but why are you choosing to develop in what is predominantly a culture of sharing and learning from each other's work? Maybe you should have chosen to develop somewhere else? What exactly did you expect? Let's take this all the way, for argument's sake. Maybe BI should charge for a premium for a developer's kit with a license that states only they can distribute your content for a percentage? -
a waste of polys IMO

Has anyone with somewhat recent hardware found settings to reduce or eliminate the slow loading of detailed textures? Theses textures load more slowly than they ever did on my crappy old computer, even with conservative video settings. i7 920 default clocking, HT disabled, 6GB ram SLIx2 gtx285 1GB ram Vista Ultimate 64 SLI disabled/Single GPU for OFP profile
-
I tried playing around with the LOD, but it makes no difference. Pulverizer's vid shows the problem perfectly, though I never noticed it popping in and out of the map screen. I notice it when turning around. Not the end of the world, just an annoyance. Why are the textures are not better cached?
-
I found the "solution". Crank VD down to 500m... No other adjustments make any difference, including reducing all texture sizes to 64x64.
-
I'll try without addons, but I expect the same behaviour. I think there is a disconnect about how OFP wants to load textures, and how the GPU wants to do it. There is a bottleneck somewhere, that is for sure.

It seems to me that the suppressive fire could also be used by AI via scripting. Where is it located in the pack? The duration of a sound can be changed without changing the pitch, but I am not sure how it will sound. Goldwave can do this. There you go LT. Drake Jackson Rożek ! Snap to it!

What is best renderer? It plays even worse than ArmA series
mr.peanut replied to Hoaah's topic in GENERAL
I find that the higher detailed textures take a lot longer to load then they ever did on my old pc, with the same in game settings. I turn and look at a building or fence and a half second later the detailed texture loads. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to fix it? -
all i have to say is... WOO HOO! and please bring back the old reload animation. those who want instant reload can go play at the arcade. if you are too stupid to reload your weapon safely you deserve to be killed. @sanc: so if you hate both reload anims what is your choice? and thanks for removing the climbing animation but making it available. this is the best way not to break old missions with intentional obstacles.

But what does it mean to "patch" a ded linux server? I think you must be thinking of a windows server. -

So the command line does not require any mod arguments? And the BAF directory need not be uploaded?
