1. That looks great MechaStalin. I hope you are able to sort out the problems you are encountering.

Tank combat simulation

That is similar to the M1A1. Â In real life the M1A1 can traverse 100 degrees to the left and to the right of the tank's centerline and depress the main gun (and of course the COAX) 9.5 degrees. Â M1A1 and all later models are well over 60 tons. Please refrain from going off topic, next thing we know this thread will devolve into a best tank in the world thread (I hate those threads). On Topic: I am disappointed that the only functional improvement that armored vehicles are portrayed with as having a working commander's weapon. Â I had been hoping that they would include the ability of armored vehicles to lay their own smoke screen that is effective against not only human opponents, but also AI opponents. Â Admittedly I have been enjoying the game overall, it just makes it easier for me to promote ArmA to certain individuals I know when various subtleties are modeled in the game.

Player List not really readable

I agree as well, the color scheme chosen for the game does not provide enough contrast.

Addon Research Topic

About a week ago while at work I noticed that there was a thread in which someone possibly inferred that there might be some changes coming to the commanders sight on the M1A1 in Armed Assault. When I got home I typed up the following information to be posted in that thread, however, I could not remember the name of the thread, nor could I remember anything else that would help me find it. In any case, here is some worthwhile information concerning the M1A1 that hopefully BIS or some future addon maker may find very useful: On the M1A1, the Commander's Weapon Sight has a 20 degree field of view at 3X magnification. There are duel optical modes integrated into the Gunner’s Primary Sight (GPS), it should have a 6.2 degree field of view that can go up to 9.5X magnification for the narrow daytime optics. In the wide field of view mode for daytime optics, it is 16 degrees at 3X magnification. ---------------------------------------------------------- [i figured I would repost this information so that it might not get lost in the OFP forums.] Time to give the community a very basic education on the subject of tracks for the M1 FOV (Family Of Vehicles). There are three types of tracks for the M1 FOV; the T156, T158, and the T158LL. For all members of the M1 FOV, there are 78 links per side regardless of the track type. This is the T156 (see below). The T156 has an intergraded rubber pad. The T156 is lighter than the other models. The T156 could be considered the “original†type and still is in use today. The problem with the T156 is the low track life of about 700 to 800 miles (1126.5km to 1287.5km). The second type of track that was developed and placed into production for the M1 FOV is the T158. The T158 adds more weight to the M1 series but this type has a longer life than the T156. The track pads on the T158 are replaceable. The latest type of track for the M1 series is the T158LL (refer to the picture below). The T158LL utilizes the exact same track pads as the T158. The T158LL is basically an attempt to reduce the weight of the T158. This type is most easily distinguished from the older T158 by looking at the guide horns (also known as center guides). The guide horns on the T158LL are open in the center as opposed to having a “web†in the center. Compare with the above (T158) example. Here is a picture of all of the components of the T158LL track assembly: There is more to know on this subject but I am too lazy to write anymore and I feel this gives someone enough information to understand the basic differences. EDIT 1: Fixed minor grammatical error. EDIT 2: Information recycled from my post here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;st=270

"Holding breath"

I would like to see the amount of time you have when you hold your breath to be a bit longer than it is currently by at least a factor of two.
6. Looking good so far. I particularly like the “Camo Daguetâ€.

Addon Research Topic

I had supplied this to Placebo in hopes it may benefit BIS (and ultimately the community as a whole) last year. Â I had also sent it to a couple addon makers in the past (quakergamer and uoix) as well. Today I am making it available to a larger community.

leehy and zerg63, Is there any possibility that South Korean customs would prevent the special edition versions from being delivered? Â SOBR should have provided you with a tracking number for your shipment. Â Not providing his customers with a tracking number is a bit suspicious. I hope this gets sorted out for you leehy.
10. One of my all time favorite missions is Operation Iron Horse, an A&D type of mission by Cowboy [1-8th]. Â One of my favorite DM maps was Anderson DeathMatch.

Favorite Mutliplayer Missions

There is no such thing as a single aspect of the game killing OFP. If anyone thinks there is just one reason why then they are just thinking in a very narrow context. The reasons for people stopping are almost as varied as the individual. Going back a few years, the jump from OFP version 1.46 to version 1.75 (AKA Resistance) caused a split in the multiplayer community, with several people sticking to 1.46 for a long time. It is entirely possible that some never even upgraded to Resistance at all before they stopped playing. As time went on, new games with newer graphics pulled some players away. Yet others ended up frustrated when they try to connect to a server only to find that they are missing some obscure addon. It seems like every other server out there had its own unique addon pack instead of something “standard†and widely known like WGL, FDF, etc. We must not forget there are people who do not visit forums very much, or even at all so as to be aware of the latest addons in use on a given server. Not to be forgotten are those who cheat and have generally poor behavior on various servers that have of course turned some players off to playing. There are some players who just like to jump on a server for an hour or so to play, but were not get on within the limited amount due to a long running game. This is where a lack of having join in progress comes into play for some. Rather than wait for the next restart of the mission in OFP, they instead just decide to play a game that allows them to jump on at their convenience. All of the above reasons contributed to the demise of the multiplayer community. There may be other reasons as well for some individuals, but this is all that comes to my mind at this time.
13. That is OK, because I always preferred armor anyway.
14. I only have the ArmA demo right now, but I am hoping to see some FCM League and WGL missions converted to ArmA by the time I have the full version of the game. Â Specifically, I would like to see Operation Iron Horse (an A&D WGL mission) as an ArmA mission. Â Additionally, I am hoping some missions that were in regular rotation on the MTCO OFP server end up getting converted. There are some great coop missions I am hoping to also see converted from OFP to ArmA, such as High Valley, Rifles of the IRA, the Nogova Virus, and more. Â Lolsav has created several coop missions for OFP that I have enjoyed in the past. Â It would be great to play a few rounds of Anderson Death match as well in ArmA.

Driving over people.

I used to really enjoy running over people in multiplayer. Â I have done this many times in matches. Â Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Fierce Dogs

Hi Lolsav, It is good to see you are making missions for ArmA. Â I really enjoyed your missions in OFP. Â Although I do not have ArmA yet (I am waiting for the UK version), I look forward to playing your missions again in the future. Thank you, M9ACE

Armed Assault and Win XP 64 bit

I find this thread to be of particular interest as I just ordered Window XP 64 bit to play around with. Â I had been wondering how well Armed Assault would work on it. One thing that concerns me is that I have heard that driver support is sometimes lacking for this OS.

505's ArmA Special Edition - What ya want?

I think we should be practical about what we ask for. 1) I would like to see a laminated map of Sahrani included with the game, or at least a pdf file of it. 2) I would also like the sound track included, either on the game DVD or on a separate CD. Â 3) My copy of OFP included a triangular fold-up quick reference guide for the default key assignments, an equivalent for Armed Assault would be appreciated. 4) Last but not least, the game Starforce (or equivalent) free.

The Citadel Wargames Server

We had a great turn out last night. Â If you are not able to make it on Wednesday nights, I would like to point out that some of us also try to play on Thursday nights as well. Â We often times end up playing the FCM missions (i.e. coop type of missions) that have been converted to use WGL addons. Â If the player pool is large enough, some sort of adversarial type of map might be considered.
