    I've noticed something weird. In MP on a non-dedi host, if you try and drag another player, it'll start dragging and then immedietley stop dragging. Now if you kill the person you were trying to drag, he will have a peremenent free-look activated. Even if he holds alt or presses *, his freelook will be on all the time and he will have to rejoin (or restart). Anyone seen this?

    Audio Improvement

    I agree on the sound engine needing more work. I also believe more work should be spent on the movement and environmental sounds. In ArmA, you can barely even hear yourself walk, lay down, etc, nevermind your team-mates. If you've walked in a bush with 3 other guys in real life, even 50m apart, you know that unless you're walking a meter a minute, you're going to sound like a heard of elephants. ArmA fails in this respect. Another part is engine noises from vehicles. It's pathetic, and doesn't even sound like you're in a real vehicle. And when you hit objects there should definitely be a crash sound. You should also be hearing wind noise, the wheels, etc. ArmA2 could really use a sound engine overhaul, and I really hope they do it. Do to ArmA2's sound engine what ArmA's graphic engine did to OFP and I'll be a happy camper.

    If you want to convert some BF2 players, why not make a trailer of ArmA that rivals the one for VBS2? Showing all of ArmA's features.. instead of just a "BF2 Sucks!" or what not in explosions on the ground. All that says to me is that you're a fanboy who has no respect for other games in what they might be. ArmA and BF2 and CS are in a league of their own. I play ArmA and OFP lots, I played BF1942, BF2, BF2142, and I also currently play CS. Does that make me a 13 year old punk that knows nothing about real combat? no. it makes me a 17 year old who just likes to have fun on his computer. I find it pretty depressing that some ArmA fans can spend their time on immature things like this.

    The demo sucks. And I have the full version (1.05 + patch). Performance wise, sure its a little better, but they also took a step in the other direction with sluggishness. It feels a lot more sluggish than the full version. Also, some annoying bugs are still present (it takes forever to turn the fucking wheels, shouldnt we have power steering by now? shit.), the editor is blanked out, and while playing a CTF game, my game crashed. Welp, uninstalling. This is a nice demonstration to potential buyers... cough. Oh, no A10, and old NVG's.
  13. ATI 1950 Pro 256mb Setting HDRPrecision to 16 results in uh.. pajamas. basically. It COULD be just the ATI 7.2 drivers, but I'm not changing them till 7.3 comes out because they've been the best so far. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem..

    AMD 3200+ HIS X1950 Pro PCI-E 256mb Windows XP Pro 32 bit 1 gig ram. No leak. Awful awful memory usage tho, sometimes it'll be so bad that when I try and alt tab or close ArmA, my computer will reset into a ati2vdag blue screen error.

    At least you can. Those with the X1950 series has to settle with every handle-leak driver available. Which includes me =\ I sure hope its fixed on my end.
  21. By "no support for dual core" all that means is it only uses one core. It'll still run, and about 30% faster than on a single core if I remember Suma's statement correctly. SLI and Vista, not completely sure about them, but I am pretty sure that some users have got both of those to work correctly. 8800+Vista users are having trouble tho. Try searchin around.

    Well I didn't run it for several hours, but I did select a whole bunch of random locations around sahrani in windowed mode which would usually make me run outa ram. Handle count was 7800ish I think.. Can't remember. I'd have to do another test, all I know is it wasn't rising.

    I have an X1950 Pro and the ATI 7.3 drivers have fixed the handle leak mentioned in the locked topic above for me. So far ArmA is still a memory hog (600-700+ megs of just selecting random positions around Sahrani) but the handles did not gradually go up, and though I did sometimes have only about 10 megs of free memory at times, it didn't excessively use the pagefile.

    Hello. I recently started a new project called IAI (Improved Artificial Intelligence). Basically as it is now, it follows groups and and individual AI and when they find enemies, they sidechat it smartly (type of enemy, location) across the airwaves, and the detected enemies get entered into array with the data [unit,Grid,Type]. As an example, an East unit sees an enemy tank at Fj53, so instantly they sidechat "Enemy armor spotted at Fj53", and the enemy gets entered into a dynamic array with the information [WUnit,"Fj53","Armor"]. I have a script that will update the grid location of this unit if he is still detected (knowsabout > 0.1 by any opposing unit) and similarly the unit will be deleted from the array if he know one knows where he is anymore (knowsabout < 0.08). Currently there is a bug in ArmA where the number a unit knows about the other (say 0.5) will NOT degrade gradually if he can not see it, but will eventually return to 0 abruptly. This kind of makes things a little screwy for obvious reasons. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Currently the only object needed for the map is a server logic, and I hope it to stay that way - also, no addons. I will upload the current ver within a couple days so you can get used to the code and let me know what improvements you did, or what could use improving, and suggestions etc. So basically this thread is for ya'll to lemme know what you think.
