    OFP+MP = Syntax Error

If you don't like the game, that's your opinion, and I respect that. I just want you to understand why the AI turns on you when you shoot members of your own team. They won't do it the first time it happens, but they will eventually decide that you have hostile intent, and try to stop you. One problem with OFP is that this knowledge is retained when your character dies -- if the mission includes a respawn feature, the newly spawned character is still considered an enemy, and if the spawning location is your base, you won't live very long... This is of course a bug, and I hope it gets fixed. But it mostly affect people who carelessly or intentionally open fire on their own team.

    OFP+MP = Syntax Error

Someone else might argue that if you can destroy you own side's vehicles without any repercussions, the AI is flawed. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

    OFP+MP = Syntax Error

Yup, I missed it. It was buried, though. Cheers!

    OFP+MP = Syntax Error

I would agree that the MP aspect of OFP could be improved, but if you think that Tribes 2 was playable out-of-the-box when it came out, you are kidding yourself.

Multiplayer: does it work and is it fun ?

No 100 players. laggy. Who wants to play another RS with big ass maps that take 30min to find each other. Love the maps but until Dedcatied servers works this game sucks TAKING MINE BACK TO EB<span id='postcolor'> Locating other players is entirely a question of mission design, and not a problem with the game or its engine per se -- I think you are too quick in passing judgement. On the other hand, the game allows so much flexibility when it comes to achieving objectives that it may not suit everyone's tastes. Some guys like lots of shooting and don't care about team casualties, others would rather sneak through the woods and flank their opponents or avoid a firefight altogether...

Multiplayer: does it work and is it fun ?

I've been playing private co-op games with friends, and we completely bypass GameSpy and specify the IP address of the system hosting the game. It's lots of fun, and there are few problems, but most of them minor. There really is nothing quite like OFP out there...

    help!

Yes, use WINIPCFG (or IPCONFIG if you have Windows 2000). Or you can use this URL: http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint/multiplayer.htm From that page, select "Multiplayer Instructions", and scroll to the bottom where the "Click Here" button is...

    Test/practice existing MP-missions??!!

Yes, I have an always-on DSL connection. It didn't occur to me until you mentioned it that creating a server won't work without an active Internet connection. I keep forgetting that lots of people still have to make do with analog dial-up connections because they can't get cable or DSL in their area.

    Test/practice existing MP-missions??!!

I do this almost every day -- I just click "Multiplayer", then "Create" on the "Network Games on LAN" screen, and I'm done.

    Test/practice existing MP-missions??!!

Sure -- just host a MP game with yourself as the only non-AI player. It usually works pretty well, though I've encountered some third-party missions that couldn't be completed unless a human player controlled the Unit Commander, because they required specific commands to be issued to the other unit members to reach goals.

    Dedicated Servers/ Netcode

It could significantly increase the number of players, while still having a low-lag game. <span id='postcolor'> We don't know whether they already compress the data they are sending. I looked at the DirectX 8.0 DirectPlay APIs and was surprised that Microsoft supports compression for voice, but apparently not for data. Optional transparent data compression would have made so much sense to be included in DX8.
