Hello BIS community, my name is Juraj, I'm from the Slovak republic. I've been playing BF2 the last half-year and am really dissapointed how EA/DICE treat their customers. I quit about a week ago, as I didn't enjoy playing BF2 at all.. Server crashes, CTDs, bugs present after a year of "support", silence from developers, "fixes" causing even more exploits/bugs........... I've been looking for alternatives of which ArmA to me was the most appealing. Great community, supportive developers. It is a real refreshment for me to be here and follow up on current events I hope multiplayer will be good, but judging by only the number of game modes, it WiLL be. I only fear about the pace of the game - will it be too slow compared to BF2? I am member of an English based clan - ZiiP - great guys who are in for fun and teamplay. We have 60+ members and we are all eagerly awaiting the demo Keep up the good work BIS! *beggs to god BIS won't take EA as publisher* See you around. O and my sig WiLL change to a more "suitable" backround image

Hey Alaskan_Viking and welcome to the BIS forums (normally I'm welcoming people over @ ZiiP lol). Well I don't think it will be EA, there are no indications. As I'm following up on BIS stuff, I also see that they guys are very different than for instance DICE. DICE had a project (BF1942) and were happy that they found someone who published it worldwide. The influence grew and grew, resulting in total EA control over DICE. I think DICE is not happy with what their "baby" has developed into. I think BIS cares for it's "baby" and I think they are not here for a quick buck. I'm pretty confident that it's not going to be EA Apart from that, with 2142 released, it would only cut they're profits
-
Sir..... thank you for the videos am playing them over and over and... and over And thanks Ayrton for posting over @ ZiiP
-
Have you been following updates ranging from E3 to GC? I think they sum it up pretty good.
-
It looks so, doesn't it? On the other hand though, would you like a global publisher to take over BIS? No, thanks! This "when will you release the game" pressure needs to stop people. There's so many things in the world you can do in the meantime (well at least I hope you do )
-
ouch my eyes hurt
-
Anyone can confirm weather it will be possible to change the game's localization yet? (text, dialogue and everything else..)
-
i need that confirmed first. i'd like an english localization so i suppose i'll have to get it shipped from the uk/us
-
Well I do but I'd rather have an English version Am from Slovakia, hope I will be able to buy ArmA with English localization.
-
Well you need to be a GOLD member in order to be able to download the video. The link actually links to a german preview from Cynamite at http://www.cynamite.de/pc....lt.html They add that the magazine PC Powerplay 07/2006 will feature some ArmA footage as well. I'm starting to be the community translator, eh

take a look at what happened to a rushed out product like BF2 for instance patience is a virtue my friend let them finish in peace, the more we wait, the more features are being added (destructive buildings)
-
I was away for the last 2 weeks, just finished catching-up on GC events. I must say - in regards to all the latest updates - take your time BIS, I'm glad to have found a company that is not interested in a quick-buck. That said, I'd gladly wait for the release as I see results of your hard work and am pretty confident now that you will release it when you can be absolutely proud of it.

muchos chipper you have an ice-cold beer waiting for you here that vote-admin and server displaying files features seem to be very good ideas any external admin-programs so an admin would have the possibility to manage the server remotely? off to read them zipp-ed infos, much appreciated
-
lo carrot matey and welcome to the BIS forum, this is a pleasant surprise for me check out the forum rules - specifically the sig dimesions - so placebo mustn't send us pms all the time and enjoy the rest - most of this forum is dedicated to OFP, you can get a good idea of how <BiG> ArmA is going to be speaking of OFP, go get the GOTY ASAP! it's only ten quid matey if you want to spread the word about us http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=52814 ***** On another note, recently there was info published about BF2142 being hacked already (LMFAO) because of the shared (old) engine from BF2. How was OFP adminable? Can you link me to some admin tools? What were the common problems with cheaters? What were the common problems for admins?

Mine aren't working either Dell 2001FP 16ms 1280x1024 75Hz 7800GTX 256MB 91.31 drivers + CD drivers (sorry, am not home to check the version) Enabling Stereovision causes the screen to flicker, get dark and create distortions so the SW should be OK but when I put the glasses on (wired) I see the exact same picture as without them. Tried F8 to reverse, E-D Activator to check out the glasses (they do get flickery and darker so the HW should be OK as well). Am using a DVI-VGA Adapter to plug the E-D Dongle to (only have 2xDVI on the 7800). Tried this on my neighbour's PC without the Adapter on a 19'' 16ms 1280x1024 75Hz TFT - same issue. We both got terrible FPS drops as well. Currently I'm waiting for a reply to my E-Mail and am borrowing the glasses to my friend who has a CRT and an ATi 9600.

Colonel USM-75R.Spyder, I have no problem with you or your clan whatsoever, infact I wish you all luck in accomplishing your goals Nonetheless, please note that I was only replying to sirex's post (sorry for going off-topic). You, as the person telling everyone else to pay attention and read carefully should note better? Nah, all is fine We enjoy playing PRMM and currently are reorganizing our servers as we ready for the release of ArmA and other games But why I quoted you here is the reason that it's a fine example of your behaviour people seem to dislike here. An argument without facts, not provoked. Think about it. Erm Did I do that? I don't think so Again, I wish you luck. I see you have 63 registered users on your forums, that's a nice start. It's good there's a variety in the clan-scene, the more clans and approaches, the more for the player to choose Now this is again a fine example of your behaviour As for the point in it - do you think we care about winning/loosing? We're just in for the fun Go ahead and roll us over I doubt that, although every human makes mistakes Again an argument without facts. But enough from me now, I raise the white flag and am off here. Again Colonel, I wish you luck.

We @ ZiiP prefer a beer and enjoy a laugh while playing a game And we even don't know what ZiiP means Erm, Zebras inventing impotency Pills? Hm, nope, that wasn't it

OT, but it only reduces performance (or clock speed) when it's not needed. It will run at full speed when the demand exists. It's better on than off, it will be quieter if you have a temp controlled fan and use less electricity. yes it should in therory but it's not exactly what happens. i'll try to find some more info and edit my post. edit: OK so the drivers can be there (1.3.2) and they do what you told. The Optimizer is adressing a different issue as is described below. I don't use them though, have C&Q disabled in BIOS and "Always On" in Power Management options. This is just because I want to have my CPU clocked @ 100% everytime. It takes time to alter the clock. If we would compare what that does - if both you and me open 2 programs from an idle state, my machine would open them a bit faster, that's all. What the Optimizer does: The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core or multiple processor systems. It is only compatible to X2/FX CPUs (no Semprons) Are the drivers / MS Hotfix for Dual-Core needed? You can uninstall the AMD CPU driver and the MS Hotfix as neither are necessary. The AMD Dual Core Optimizer by itself should be all that's necessary. Many people go and install the AMD CPU driver and the MS Hotfix without knowing what they do, and the MS hotfix in particular was only meant to be installed on systems which experienced severe peformance problems in games due to power management issues and dual core CPUs. Neither is recommended or required in my opinion. There is an interesting thread about the Utility over at Tweakguides if you want to know more http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=3619

Zombie_Mod I'm looking forward for your work, if you need any help with testing the ZiiP clan is at your disposal (we were betatesters for Project Reality Mod for BF2) Anyways, regarding the Dual Core issues - an X2 3800+ equals an P4 3800 performancewise as said before. Just don't install (or uninstall) the AMD drivers and disable Cool&Quiet in BIOS (this cuts your performance in order to be more power-effective). Then install only the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer from their site http://www.amd.com/us-en....00.html

^^ I ordered those yesterday Hope they'll work proper with my LCD

Hello and welcome TiNM@N, I think I know you from some BF2 related forums If it was the EA forums, 2 moderators from there are part of our clan and the third one is posting on our forums as well ZiiP will be playing ArmA and you can come to our TS if you wish If you want to banter about ArmA with BF2 players, be sure to visit http://gaming.ziip.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=67 180k points, oh my, you have some spare time I'm at 43k not playing anymore

I really like the TrackIR video. One question though - how is terrain drawn. In BF2 for instance, you hide in grass and think you're covered but an enemy 50m away from you doesn't see the grass as it's not rendered on his machine. Will this be the same? Low/High detail level differences?
