Can i continue campaign normally after 1.05 update
Kode replied to Overdosed's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
you should be able to continue the campagain without a problem, but you could also restart it to see what changes have been made in terms of gameplay with alot of bugs fixed -
try putting hardware acceleration on disabled in the sound options.
-
The UK version is already at version 1.04. There will be a patch in the near future for all versions to go to version 1.05 for UK and others.
-
Well, it depends on the people you play with. I didn't have any bad experience yet, but of course, I only have the game for 2 days. I played like 4-5 houres online, and it was fun, with teamwork most of the time. So in short: Â Normally the game also has voip, but I never tried it nor heard it, I'll look into that in a while.
-
I think it was going to be available online at sprocket on the 27th of february (perhaps directly the 1.05 patch included?)
-
first I need to get home, but then
-
I got my copy too at Maxworld Leuven, for the price of 36,90€, even better then the 39,9 I expected
-
I checked all stores I know that sell games at Leuven: fnac, free record shop, hetcomputerwinkeltje, gamemania, maxworld, none have it :s, let's hope they get it before the week-end....
-
Yes, I had the same problem, they told me they would have it in stock tuesday or wednesday hopefully(so not even sure...)
-
well it's a picture, but there is nothing really particular to it in my opinion. why didn't you just post the picture in the Arma photography thread?
-
probably not as it's a german publisher and it only published the game in germany... you could perhaps try to put everything in babelfish or some other online translator

ArmA Vista Performance/Issues(Release&New Driver!)
Kode replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
it runs on vista, but not as good as in XP. when I sprint, it doesn't go smoothly, you get some sort of lag. But I haven't tried the latest drivers of ati yet, so the problem might just be there, I'll get back to you in a while --- updated ATI driver Well it runs a bit better, but still not as good as in XP, especially when with a scope or binoculars, it get's laggy, and when sprinting or running still the same problem, even with lowering settings. When you do that, it happens less though. My advice: Keep using XP for games, as even other games don't run as smoothly on vista either. -
It's still the publishers choice to publish a game or not, what you say makes no sense
-
Very unhappy where do I enquire about a refund?
Kode replied to polecat's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If you'd like a refund, you should contact the store you bought the game at, not the developer as they are not selling the game directly to you, this is the publishers job, which sells it to stores, which then sell it again to the customers. -
There is a single player mode available in the demo, but unfortunaly still no missions. the fact that they got a patch for a demo already shows that it has been rushed a bit... But they'll probably release a next patch with a single player mission, at least I hope. There is still indeed a lot of room for improvement, so let's hope that when the 505 release comes, we get a decent product that doesn't require a patch just to be able to play.
-
why do people always have to ask the same question... done when it's done, simple as that, isn't it?
-
of course there will be a patch so that the german version will have the same version as the english one.
-
because there are several publishers for each different country. Some versions already are released, but the most important one, the english one, isn't released yet. It's the publishers choice to release the game, not BIS. In my opinion the german and czech version have been rushed, seeing the number of problems with it, so the english on, will be the real on . In short it's the same game, but the english version will already be patched to the current version whereas the german an czech version have to install a patch to get to the same version.

well, name a game in 2004 that had HDR  Graphics are surely up to date, if they made it even heavier, people would be complaining about the game being unplayable(which some already do) So i miss your point there. Also I think the AI was greatly improved, the example you show was probably in CTI I expect, and ok, it isn't that great, but no AI is perfect, and with a gameworld this large, it's hard to let them react on every different situation, as there are thousands of them. The AI was greatly improved to me, they actually try to find you, come after you, surround you and much more, which wasn't in OFP. The damage system isn't ok either, but they improved it, and it isn't a sequal to ofp, it's more like an upgrade to OFP. A lot of other games have the same issue you know  To your final point, collision detection has way improved, ok, the thing with trees isn't exactly realistic, but hey, at least you don't bump to the tree and are halted suddenly against a tiny tree like in other games. No game is perfect(if you see one, I'd be happy to know ) Also what is the use of posting this? you don't want to buy the game, fine, but all people know about it, and it's their decission to buy it or not.
-
still 45 euros isn't much for the special edition, so I don't think they'll add a lot to it. As the game is normally +-35euros. But 10 euros for just a metal case is a bit overprized, so I think they'll add something more to it. Anyway, even if the digital content would only be in the special edition, people could just port it, so that would not make much sense. I just hope there is a nice map to hang above my screen (and that they also have the special edition in english)
-
I think you are also forgetting it's not BIS that makes the english version(at least I thought it was codemasters that translated everything), it's the publisher that translates everything. So then you have bought a game from a different publisher. This means 2 different companies, so it'll be very doubtfull if they made anything like that. Also you are stuck with 2 different versions, so you cannot use the same patches, at least not the first one. As the english version will have a much better build then the czech/polish/german version.

The games are very different. First of all, the map of Arma is huge compared to BF2 (400sq miles). BIS uses a streaming engine because the entire island doesn't fit into the memory. BF loads the entire map into his memory, that's the cause BF uses such large amount of memory. Actually, BIS is just good at using RAM, as it will run on computers with smaller amount of RAM.(and it's actually windows that allocates RAM etc...) The demo doesn't lag because it only uses 215Mb, it's +- the same amount the demo uses on my computer, and it runs smoothly here, the reason it lags has to be somewhere else. Have you tried 800x600 and all settings on low/disabled? If that still lags, it's not your GPU, but I'd really doubt it would still lag then. If it's still the case, you might check if your harddisk isn't defragmented a lot, as Arma constantly uses the hard disk(constantly loading things into the memory) Normally an image is fluid when it's 25 FPS, and also this belongs more in the troubleshooting-forum

not every weapon has recoil, some modern weapons have almost no recoil, so it's well possible in my opinion.
-
The explosion depends on the weapon you use, the javelin is a heavy AT weapon, I don't see an artillery shell make such an explosion. Al depends on the weapon, and you cannot make a smoke-animation for each explosion, I think the smoke they have took quite some time to make, especially if you compare the quality to other games.
