Couldn't do this in any other current game...
Killerwatt replied to john_mcclane's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
sounds awesome. Any way you can post up the mission file? I'd like to see it too please. -
Are you Kidding? This forum is littered with similar posts to yours. All we can do is wait and see if BI adress the issues in a constructive way. I really hope they can fix this as this game has so much promise.

I am having sooo much trouble with targeting
Killerwatt replied to Tracer's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Must be my Track IR that is making it much easier for me then. I am so used to having it there now that I tend to forget about it and just take it for granted. It really does become that intuitive. -

From what you say it sounds like you are flying with keyboard controls. If you can, invest in a good joystick and you will experience a world of difference in flying the choppers. using joystick I was able tocomplete the attack the convoy in less than ten minutes and a good deal of that time was spent trying to land spot on the helo circle. (still need practice at landing). I was able to bring the helo to a hover and take out the convoy on the coast road at over 2000 metres on manual fire. 8 targets, 8 hellfires, 8smoking wrecks and home for breakfast lol. -
1.05 crashing after 5-10 mins of game play.
Killerwatt replied to johnwilso007's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Latest info after re-installing patch and trying again is that turning post processing effects to low as suggested elsewhere gave me back some frames per second but the game is still unstable and on one occasion even crashed completely and reset the computer. Also getting strange lighting effects in the cockpit of the cobra depending on the angle to the sun. Its difficult to explain, almost like the game is trying to render reflections on the glass but its just drawing artifacts which appear like a pattern of intersecting broad lines across where the glass would be instead. This was using TrackIR and depended on which way my head was pointed as opposed to which way the chopper was pointed. -

Thanks for trying to help Walker, I should have added that download is ok (zip size 232,114kb) and the only addons I have to my knowledge would be some missions. I reverted to version1.04 which I had backed up prior to installation of patch and all was back to normal. -

Well I patched my 505 version with the euro patch and got the following problems. 1. Distorted graphics (officer had streched hands) Alt tabbing out and back in solved this but subsequent attempts to alt tab crashed the game. Some characters had white skin textures. 2. Game suddenly changed from day to night. (everyone else was still in daylight) 3. Frame rates much lower at same settings I used for version 1.04 4. Frequent crashes to desktop with the standard microsoft error message that the app has encountered a problem and MS would like my puter to "phone home". My specs are : Intell P4 prescott 3.4Ghz 1024 megs of ddr ram HIS ATI RadeonX1650pro AGP 512mb Any help gratefully recieved. -
Yeah whatever, I am not interested in arguing with you any more. Now to get back to my original question, Does anyone knowledgable about these things have an answer as to whether it can be done? Cheers, Stewart.

Ive been playing around in the choppers a bit and was wondering is there any way to tie the nose mounted gun's movement to the pilot's/gunner's head movement as in real life? It would be awesome with TrackIR if we could do this. Cheers, Stewart.

Forget it Gux, I assume that plaintiff and his friend haven't got Track IR and so are against anyone getting the benifits from it when they are unable to do so. Cheers, Stewart.
-
You people have obviously never heard of the word OPTION. You are aware that the gunner can aim the gun by moving the mouse button I presume? So whats the big deal with giving him the option to do so using his TrackIR?
-
Sorry But I disagree. If its possible to implement it to be more lifelike then this should be done in my opinion. The human pilot can already target his hellfires and in real life he can target the gattling gun so it would be just ludicrous to disallow this for the sake of "game play". We want more realism in our game not less. Why not take away the manual fire mode completely if you want to force player to fly with a gunner? Besides, it could always be an option that could be disabled if the server wanted to disable it. Cheers, Stewart
-
Either way it doesn't really mater if its slaved to the gunner's or the pilot's helmet as 9 times out of ten if you are flying with an AI gunner you will probably utilise manual fire anyway. So it would be good to have it slaved to the helmet of whoever has control of the gun.

But it's only a matter of time before an AH 64 makes an appearance in ArmA. So it would be good to know if my Idea is possible. Cheers, Stewart.

At first I was a bit sceptical about a ban list but after witnessing [TKC] Wesker's exploits on the GOL-Clan server last night where he used some sort of cheat to destroy an entire base and repeatedly team killed the many players who respawned, I am now all in favour. Cheers, Stewart.

Great!! I cant wait to try this new patch with my TrackIR . I havent been this excited about a game since the last time I was this excited about a game! Cheers, Stewart

When they encounter an enemy they will dash to the nearest phone box and once inside will put their underpants on over their trousers and then proceed to give the said enemy a sound thrashing. Failing that it just makes them deadly accurate/efficient with their guns and awareness. Cheers, Stewart.

Talking of smoke, I seem to recall that in OFP the AI could see through the smoke. Is that still the case with ArmA? Cheers, Stewart.

This is going to make urban warfare so much more immersive Cheers, Stewart.

How to place an empty vehicle?
Killerwatt replied to Killerwatt's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thanks for the fast responses guys. Cheers, Stewart. -
Im new to editing so please be gentle. I know how to place a vehicle in the editor but it always seems to be crewed. How do I make it appear empty? so I can just jump in? Cheers, Stewart

BIS will have made a deal with the publisher (in this case Atari) for their payment and Amazon will have made a deal with Atari and will subsequently set their price to acheive a pre-decided profit level based on sales projections. Hence the low price. Its not rocket science.

Another reason for my wife to go quiet on me....
Killerwatt replied to HamishUK's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
2 whole days to enjoy ArmA in total peace and quiet without interuption? Sheer bliss! You should be gratefull to the screenshot guys. Cheers, Stewart -
I wonder if it would be possible to implement a system where once you have been reincarnated as a seagull, you are then unable to communicate with the still alive people in the game. It could be done by automatically creating a "limbo" channel upon death where only other dead people can communicate (both by keyboard and VOIP). After all, its not very realistic to be hunting for enemies as a seagull and then broadcasting their position. I know I have also been guilty of this in the past but the more I think about it the more it sounds like cheating. Cheers, Stewart.

The vote option "#" key could always be made universal for game restarts booting or electing admin.
