  1. The likes of ArmA / OFP are difficult to get into especially for casual gamers, most simply can't or don't want to spend the time learning the game, so you are always left with the hardcore fans spread over far too many servers. Any time you look at the server list there are only a handful of servers with a decent amount of players and dozens of other servers with a handful of players on each , simply no use for PvP players. For PvP fans there needs to be a decent amount of players on each side and all that seems to be available is Berzerk (great maps) and you are lucking if there is one server with a lot of players on it. (not to mention the hackers that love it too! ) There are plenty other PvP maps of all sorts but they are not played. When you fire up, take a look at the server list , you just want to jump into a game with say 20+ players, but alas not much there for PvP. I'd bet any of the unplayed maps would probably get a following if anyone fire up ArmA and saw 20+ playing it, you'd join out of sheer curiosity.

    Too much CHEATS

If you do see cheaters, hackers, deliberate TKers....... Then tell the ArmA GBL (Global Banning List) That site seems to be just for server admins, I was playing on a server yesterday and there was a guy with, what everyone else was calling, a 'speed hack' , he was zooming all over the place and it wasn't just lag. Not being a server admin or anything , I suppose there is nothing much I could do,trying to get everyone to vote was a waste of time (think the amount of votes needed should be dropped) though I happened to have fraps going and got a couple of short vids.

    ArmA Graphics Problem

I returned 2 of those cards after they both eventually started glitching and gradually got worse , artifacts even showing on the boot up screen, Of course later versions were maybe fixed, but looking between the card and cover plate you could see gaps between some of the chips and the thermal pads. Eventually upgraded my motherboard and got a X1950pro ultimate PCI Express, better cooling.

    SecuROM problem - Error 7001

I did not have emulation software either, although i have had in the past, so probably something left behind. deleting the volume entries worked for me.

    SecuROM problem - Error 7001

Like said previously I deleted all the drives in that folder (just unused drive letters didn't work) and it worked ,however I had problems when the drives were assigned different letters. You can change them back via (XP) right clicking My Computer then 'Manage', However I would try just deleting the ' \??\Volume ' entries, that may avoid it.

    1.08 Troubleshooting thread.

Thought the US patch wasn't out yet?

Nope, didn't even think off that.
  8. It's multiplayer, sector control through the streets of Ortega. East and West spawn at opposite ends of Ortega and have to capture the eight sectors (in order) spread out over a route through the town. I should also mention it is infantry only, no vehicles, but there is an advanced respawn point should you get to your 4th flag , just to save your feet if you are doing well. You score points for each sector captured ,the further the flags from your spawn, the more points they are worth. The winners being the highest score at the end of the selected time, or the capture of all eight flags. This version was made with ArmA 1.07b.Should work with all versions. Hope you enjoy, all criticisms / suggestions welcome. Download> My Webpage Thanks, Kango [TZW]
  9. I made a map in 1.05, when played with 1.07 I noticed a static wreck I placed on a bridge dropped 1 or 2 metres , the same with a mound I placed in the water for a crossing. Anyone else notice this sort of thing?

    MP SC  Streetfighter Dolores

No AI in this, I did toy around with putting in some but decided against it ( the bridges made it awkward ), tried just to keep it small and infantry on foot only. I'm sure it would be easier now to make the next one I try bigger and with vehicles now I've got the basis down. That's of course if there is any/much interest in it
  13. Hi, Here is my first mission, an idea I had that I thought may be fun with a lot of players. It's multiplayer, sector control (I guess) through the streets of Dolores. East and West spawn at opposite ends of Dolores and have to capture the eight sectors (in order) spread out over a route through the town. Hopefully it works out as a right ding-dong in the centre of the map as opposing sides try to push each other back over their bridge towards their starting spawn points. This version was made with ArmA 1.07b ( anyone else notice object position differences between 1.05>1.07 ie a mound I placed perfectly in 1.5 seemed to be a couple of metres lower in 1.07). I also adjusted one slightly for 1.05 but I am posting the one for the latest 1.07b. I tried to keep things simple but being my first map it was a bit of a steep learning curve. Tested as best I could by myself and also thanks to Bwibble , Fish and Mort for their suggestions and for testing it on the Timezone Warriors server. Hope you enjoy, all criticisms / suggestions welcome. Download> My Webpage Thanks, Kango [TZW]
  14. Think the Battlefield type maps would be good for this, with on going battles you could join in at anytime as re-inforcements, however some may have a problem with leaving the game and not knowing the eventual outcome of the battle, unless summary/stats of the battle where kept somewhere ,maybe on server, i don't know. Seem to remember Unreal Tournament having some sort of collection of stats. Been playing the Joint OPs demo aswell , something similar (OFP version) might work, however with OFP being more realistic  I doubt if anyone would get near another island!
