I dont really think internet rumours come into the same class as other discussions in the forum. I mean this thing isnt even on any new sites, so what credibility does it have? May aswell discuss Bob The Builders career prospects. Buuuut.... i wont close the thread, unless it degenerates into "its real" "no its not!" "its real!" "no its not" .... *KingBeast crawls back into his cave*

$70 to spend at circut city

The thing is really entertaining and a fun game, unfortunately i stopped playing it a while ago. Sometimes i get that with games, othres will hold me all the way to completion but the thing hasnt. Ill probably go back and complete it at some point but from what i played (which was a fair amount) it was a lot of fun. Medieval Total War has to be among my top 3 favourite games ever, but its the kind of game that you have to like, to like. If you get me :/ Its not everyones cup of tea but those who like it, love it.

    Zimbabwe train crash

Not a great day really for anyone We have quite a few train de-railments and such here in Britain, so I can understand how upsetting it can be for the families of the victims.

    Space shuttle columbia lost

I think what makes this particularly saddening (at least to me) is actually seeing those pictures of it happening. When it comes to train crashes and plane crashes, usually you see just the aftermath. But with things like this (same applies to the WTC) you actually see the instant that someone, or a group of people have died. For me, thats when it transcends from being statistics to actual living people. Reminds me of that Russian sub (kursk i think?) when you heard that there were survivors waiting for rescue, and you can imagine them in their last moments, knowing what was going to happen. Whether or not the shuttle crew had time to realise that they were about to die I dont know, but it is indeed a tragic accident.

Seems rather pointless to keep this thread open anymore. If anyone wants to follow up this "offer" then by all means, use private messaging.

    The Iraq Thread

And just as Gulf War 1, a small amount of the new technologies will be used and praised while the rest will be old tried and tested. Because i severely doubt that even in testing purposes, the US and its allies (or ally?) would use a majority of new ordnance when they have so much old stuff waiting to be used.

    The Iraq Thread

Technology may well have advanced, but why use all of your new expensive advanced equipment? Seems like a perfect opportunity to off load all of the old rusting ordnance that costs so much money in storage and maintenance.

Do u believe people are basically good?

im quite surprised that neutrality hasnt featured much in this discussion Yes there are good people that do the right thing, and there are bad people that do what society deems to be the bad thing, but when you think about it, the vast majority of people are neutral. Either in that they dont do bad things and dont do good things, or in that they do the occasional bad thing and the occasional good thing. I expect most of you can identify with this. As for our default state? I would say we are born bad. That is, bad as deemed by our great society. As has already been said in so many words, we have to be taught right from wrong when growing up. Children may pull the legs off of daddy long legs' (crane flies i think, for the Americans and others) and watch them suffer. While this seems cruel (well i think so) what exactly is the childs understanding of cruelty or kindness? Its all good fun to them. So we go back to good and bad being solely defined by society. If the majority of people say one thing is bad because they dont like it, then it is set as the standard.

    Anyone hear the news?

FSPilot, if you can clone specific organs or body parts, then why would you clone a working human so that you could take and use his specific organs/bodyparts. It would be less cost effective i would imagine

    Mid east

Rocks can be pretty deadly, even to soldiers in combat gear. After all, i dont think many soldiers have any face protection at all. A rock thrown at your face is going to hurt, and could blind you and such. But for the most part, rocks are not really much of a risk

    Anyone hear the news?

I think as already said, there is little reason to clone whole humans however, if so far in our history we have influenced what people wear, what people think about certain issues, how people act, what is good and bad in our minds, and if we have decided that getting lyposuction, breast implants, facial surgery and tummy tucks is "natural" then i think cloning humans doesnt stray too far from what we already do. Cloned babies - lack of 'real' mother and father This is true, but i would expect such cloned babies would receive lots of care and attention, as they likely cost a small fortune to develop. Think of the millions of parentless children in the world that wont be getting that care and attention. There are test tube babies and orphans in the world, and they may lack a certain sense of identity, but i think its safe to say that they have found ways to deal with that. Im sure any cloned humans would manage to deal with it too. But in my opinion, there really isnt any need for clones. The only situations that pop into my mind, where cloning humans would be useful, would be for various not nice things. ie growing an army, using cloned humans as medical test subjects, using clones as labourers, ie growing coal miners, factory workers, garbage men. All the jobs that people dont particularly want to volunteer for.

    Anyone hear the news?

Putting an old brain into a new body wont make them immortal :/ The brains will still get old, they will forget things, have strokes etc. I am sceptical as to whether or not these people have cloned a human, very sceptical. And if they have, its terrible news that such a bunch of nuts are the first to do it, and that they plan on using it in a rather perverse way.

    Just bought a palm m515

I deal with iPAQ h3800s (i think) every day at work and I want one Ive had to look into in-expensive alternatives and found that Dell have released a really cheap one, and Compaq have also released a lower budget model (both round about the $200 mark) The games ive played on them were pretty low quality atari style games, but those were the free ones. Perhaps if you actually buy games you can get some better ones. I really like the iPAQ though, with its IR link, built-in microphone, word, excel, outlook etc. Good Stuff
