    Hmm, I doubt BIS will see fit to add this as a sticky, given how many there are already. Titanium, remember that a team can build more than just one base. If you have the money you can take your Mobile Base elsewhere and create more buildings. For each building that you destroy, your team gets one point. The point limit is 15, so even if a team builds tons of other buildings, you can beat them with points even if you don't destroy everything. 15 points doesn't sound like much, but we played for over 2 hours one night before getting to 15 points. It can take a while if your opponent knows what they're doing. Also, remember to check the MISSION STATUS on your action menu because that will show how many bases are left for each team. If you are destroying their buildings and that number is not going down, then there's a problem. I have found that sometimes lag will prevent a public var from getting broadcast to other players so that could be an issue, but any time I have had problems squashing the enemy, it's because they build more buildings and hid them. UPDATE: New version at http://www.aggression.org/karr/RTS2.zip Fixes: -When workers were killed while on their way to repair a building, the mission did not know they had died and so that team could not train any more workers. This is fixed now thanks to Hit_Squad_Maxiumus finding the cause. -Command HQ was not making its Research actions available again after it was destroyed and then repaired. Now fixed thanks to Hit_Squad_Maxiumus finding the cause. -Some independent AI squads would no longer move once their leader had been killed because the script wouldn't recognize the group anymore. Now fixed. Thanks for the bug reports, I feel that the mission is getting very stable now. If you find anything odd, please document what had happened at about the time you noticed the buggyness.

    More multiplayer helo bugs

    I've seen this bug in 1.46. One player will think he's flying round blowing up stuff, meanwhile for everyone else he's on the ground just shooting missiles into thin air. The bad part is that he can blow up enemies, but his chopper is invisible to them. During CTF one time, I saw someone appear out of thin air, grab the flag and then it looked like they were getting in the door of something, even though no vehicle was there. Then he vanished again, and a few seconds later capped the flag. His chopper was just lagged or something, but invisible to me and others. If you find where their chopper is sitting on the ground you can blow it up and it will kill them.

    I love Coop, but I also like elements of CTF and Capture and Hold. You must admit that they offer up a bit of strategy as well since you're playing against humans rather than AI. Even if you're on a pub, if you have a decent team then you can play with a lot of strategy. What's fun is to play a Coop against Humans. Those are harder to create, but can be a lot more fun to play.

    Well some of that depends upon what you're attaching the actions to. In that case you'd probably want to attach it to the miner using local variables, and then let that script monitor the vehicle until it is destroyed or something, and then the action would be removed. Something like: _mineaction=_vcl Addaction ["Start Mining","Mining.sqs"] @!Alive _vcl _vcl RemoveAction _mineaction Exit Have you tried RTS2 yet? It has similar concepts in it, except resource gathering is a bit different. You have workers (civilians) who will earn you money at your base, and if a base building is destroyed, then they will run over and repair it, but while they're working, they don't earn money. You can also earn money by taking a CH47D, Mi17, or a Construction Jeep and find destroyed vehicles and recycle them for money. In my original RTS missions, you earned money for capturing and holding towns and for recycling and for having oil refineries. I may create some other RTS2 missions where you can earn money for holding towns or something like that, but I'm not going to do it until the base code is to a final point, so I don't have to constantly update several missions.

    I'm actually glad that in-game chat is not in the new MP code, and unless there's an effective way for admins to see who is talking or abusing it, then I don't want it. Sure, it's fun when you're playing coop or something, but to be honest with you, I never had much use for it in normal MP games, especially with a lot of ppl. Of course, I'm a fairly fast typer, so maybe that's why I don't care as much. I just remember how many times we've gotten lamers that keep talking and completely disrupting the game for everyone. The negatives of Voice Over IP as currently implemented in the game FAR outweigh the positives I've seen. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to strangle some Arschloch for continuously yelling crap into the mic, or some moron who decides they want to share their music with us during the game by holding their mic up to their speakers while blasting something completely incoherent. When you can't even hear Sabot rounds going off in the game because of VOIP then you know it's bad. Grrrr. Anyway, if they implement it again, all I ask is for some way to monitor who's using and abusing the system. If that can't be done, then an effective way of disabling it or muting it from within the game would be awesome. How about each player could have a mute button or something? That way if you have some bloody obnoxious little twat-faced loud mouth driving everyone insane with his inane chatter, you could click mute and then he'd be talking to himself. Otherwise, I think Opflash now has kept me captive longer than any other game I've ever had. I used to play Action Quake 2 for a long time, then came Half-Life and I played several mods including CS and AHL for quite some time after it came out. Opflash took everything to the next level, and I haven't been able to put it down since. All of the other quake-based FPS games are simply versions of the same old tired shooters that I grew bored with after playing CS. Nothing yet compares to the scope of Opflash. That's not to say it doesn't have major shortcomings, primarily the 3D engine needs some work in these areas: -Water really needs to be more realistic. Right now it's like the ocean is a wading pond that kills you. -The terrain is nice, but it isn't truly 3D, i.e. no tunnels, caves, etc. Also, true Rivers and bridges would be great. And how about some ramps for jumping those sports cars! =) -Buildings are simple objects that look nice, but otherwise are not very functional. Building should be much more "solid" and perhaps made from the 3D engine rather than being models. -Soldier animations and reactions to certain things are just strange. If you fall from a tall height, your soldier still keeps his stance, but just sort of topples over. It looks really bizarre. Also, hit detection is good, but the damage detail isn't too great. Perhaps something where the soldiers could get body parts blown off? SOF2 actually has a great system there. -Vehicles don't have true brakes. For example, in a sports car when you slow down, it takes forever to stop. you should be able to slam on the brakes and lock up the tires and skid to a stop rather than that gradual slowdown. I would say the brakes on the sports cars are worse than the big trucks. They all need better and more realistic brakes. Well there's other stuff, but those are the shortcomings. The game is very solid overall, but we've gotta have something to complain about! =)

    Heh, beat me to it. =) I've just uploaded a zip to the download link that contains 3 RTS2 maps, one for Everon, Malden and Kolgujev. http://www.aggression.org/karr/RTS2.zip Fixes: -fixed the "not enough money to repair vehicle" bug that occurred even though you had enough money to repair. -recycling now works from the CH47D, Mi17, and Construction Jeep properly, instead of the player having to get out of the vehicle. -Squad spawn for east now calculated correctly -You can now build all buildings while staying in truck, instead of having to get out of the truck for some buildings. Changes: -AA Soldier Squad is now a 12-man soldier squad consisting of a more balanced complement of soldiers -Random starts were tweaked so that the start locations are closer together -Heli Pad symbol now appears where AI squads spawn so you'll know which area to keep clear of buildings I'm sure I'm forgetting some tweaks, but that's the gist of it. Â I think most of the bugs that are under my control are about squashed. Â I just hope that the new Netcode will get rid of some of the AI related bugs.

    How to remove voice setup configuration...

    I think if you run OPFLASHPREFERENCES.EXE and then go into Voice Setup and cancel during the setup it may disable voice over ip. I'm not sure if that's the best way or not.

    You also have to remember that there is a silent majority out there that plays mostly coop amongst themselves, rather than on a dedicated server. I started out that way, but once the dedicated server started looking better, then I tried it, and haven't looked back. I think some players might start trying dedicated servers once Res comes out with the new MP code. Don't give up hope, you have to remember that this is not a game for the twitch-n-shoot crowd. You've actually got to have some patience to be good at it. =)

My server at 209.193.133.66 or karrillions.fatmeat.net Then there's Radishville..I can't remember the ip, and FragHaus might also be playing it. If you get All-Seeing Eye server browser then you can also see who's playing it at the time. You can get it here: http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/ My server is not up until after 5pm Eastern Time U.S.

    Airlifting is possible. Basically you'd take a jeep to a chinook, click Load Vcl and then it'd disappear rather than being towed under the chinook. With lag you can't really do the tow underneath the chopper thing cause it'd have to setposition with chinook and would probably look bad. when you got somewhere, then you could unload it, but you'd have to be landed. It might be too much to do properly though, although it'd be cool to airlift your Mobile Base over to an island. =)

BTW I wish I could figure out why some ppl aren't having their "Re-Establish Communications" action put on when they respawn. I changed that from a script doing that to triggers, and it still doesn't seem to work 100% of the time in large games. I have a trigger for each person that checks for when they're alive, and then it adds the action. I think that lag might be the issue here.

    Well, you can't really change the SIDE of the vehicles. That is assigned internally by the game and there's no real good way to do that. The only way that your AA's will target a Cessna is if that cessna kills one of your AI's, or you or a vehicle that is associated with your team. Then the AI's will see them as hostile. Because of that, most of the time a cessna will only be able to take some potshots. It would be a pain to make another price range for cessna's, so their price would remain the same after the Advanced upgrade. But it would take at least 12 mins or so to upgrade. I think I may just leave them with only brownings. That way it's not too unfair. They can still crash them into buildings though, unfortunately.
