I see so many small coop missions coming out for the alpha. That is really great, but what about those of us who do not have a community to play with and thus prefer single player? I know the alpha is still very new, but I am curious to know if anybody has plans for soon releasing a single player mission, preferably dynamic or with lots of replay value.
Thank you.

In the first post it says "still the wasteland we all know and love". I must be missing something then. I have been playing since 2001 and never once heard of "wasteland" until this ArmA 3 alpha came out. What is it? Where do I find out more about it? Why does the original forum post lack any and all detail? How have I missed this?

Now with proper physics a lot of the high ground clearance vehicles will actually tip over when turning sharp at higher speeds. Never before in ArmA have I felt the need to actually drive well. Nothing like that feel of retreating at full speed, trying to make a sharp turn when suddenly you start tipping over. Quickly correct your driving or you will end up on your side in half a second, surrounded by enemies. I can't wait to see how the tracked vehicles handle.

As much as I love both Evolution and Domination, in the current state of the alpha it seems rather silly. There are no support vehicles, no armor, no AA, no advanced helicopters, very limited infantry weapons, etc. Getting an Evolution or Domination mission up right now would be good only to get the code and basic mission figured out for when we get more content. I just do not see actually playing it with this limited content though.

Playing the MP mission there seems to be a bug where I cannot capture any bases. They never turn blue on the map and the AI always stays at the first objective.
-
Does this require a dedicated server? I was not aware a dedicated server utility is actually released.
-
I just downloaded it but apparently I got 0.1 instead of the more recent 0.7. Does somebody have a direct download link (or armaholic) for the newer version?
-
So what Suma said was about ArmA 2 two years ago. How does that apply here?
-
See this comment"I am sorry to disappoint you, but some things are really too hard and we are not willing to spend the time on them." - Soma
I could understand for arma2 it was out befor quad cores etc where mainstream but there is no ascuse if arma 3 is the same.
Where did he say this?

From my understanding birds are not working in A3 because the F&S mod does not know to use the A3 trees. It is looking for trees from A2 (what the mod was made for) to put birds in, but there are none.
-
This would be extremely amazing both from a modder standpoint and a gamer standpoint.
-
Does this require CBA?
Installed without mod folder (placed in addons and keys folders) and I see no difference. Still blur everywhere.

Thanks for all the comments. :)There has been much said what I thought about it. I am also test how it works.
Unfortunately, that's a lot of work because the paa plugin for Photoshop not work for me.
I do not know why that is. Maybe at the CS6 Trail that I use at the moment.
(..sorry for my english, I use a translation program)
Try using GIMP instead of Photoshop.

It seems logical to me for BIS to dedicate one entire CPU core to just AI processing. Is this impossible?

i would guess its something about what you are playing and changing the view range. the place where the fps is always the same for me to try thigns ou is on the heli, ive had terrible and acceptable fps in single and multiplayer on different scenarios. As I said I tested both times under the same exact circumstances. Same graphics settings, same mission, same everything. I used the FRAPS benchmark tool to average out the fps during the whole helicopter mission and that is where I got these numbers. Before OC I got 18 fps average, with OC (turned it down to 3.6 GHz from 3.8 due to overheating) I now get 35 fps average. Night and day difference here.
HelloI tried going in to the nvidia panel > "adjust image settings with preview" and set it to "let 3d program deside" (or similar, first option). This removed all my fps lag and improved my fps alot in general.
Does anybody else have any experience with this? I have not ever heard that solves the issue. How much more fps did it grant you?
-
From playing the ArmA 3 Alpha this does seem to be resolved. Now we can actually turn and accelerate too! Imagine that.
-
Well I only lag on multiplayer servers but the other computer at my house doesn't lag on those same servers.Boy that is sure odd. Must not be the servers then. I bet you anything it is primarily your CPU causing you issues. I just overclocked mine +.6 GHz and I see a world of difference. I need to tone it back a bit though in fear of frying it.
-
I used too have the 955 too and it goes up to 3.6, in some cases 3.7GHZ without chaning the voltage, read it up! Be warned, going higher and increasing voltage can end up badYeah I am at 3.8 GHz right now with increased CPU and CPU-Northbridge frequencies and voltages (did not touch the FSB). I think I will lower the voltage a bit from where it is now (1.4V) but not default and leave it at 3.7 GHz clock speed.
I have some screenshots of my last play through at 3.8 GHz as you requested. Note the graphics settings are between the 'high' and 'very high' presets with a few settings on 'ultra'.
I've got GTX 670 OC and I noticed that when my FPS goes down the card GPU clock goes to 600Mhz instead oh usual 1100Mhz.Looks like it does.t recognize that it's running 3D appI believe that is Nvidia's fault. There are ways to force "performance mode" and say screw it to power saving to get around this shortcoming. I am sure a soon to be released Nvidia driver will resolve the GPU not recognizing the 3D application to crank up the frequency automatically.
-
Still, can you downclock and overclock again and give us screenshots(matter of a few minutes) ? I cant believe that since we are both on the same CPU´s technology, and ive gone even higher then you...I have heard multiplayer can be more demanding, maybe try single player. I have yet to start up MP because my CPU is still fairly unstable at 3.8 GHz. I think I will lower it to 3.7 or 3.6 for stability and concerns about longevity with a stock cooler at that clock.
Before posting this I just tried the first half (before a BSOD) of the Showcase: Vehicle mission with my new clock speed. Again I was getting 35-40 fps average where before at 3.2 GHz I would get 15-22 fps average.
-
It was the Showcase: Rotary Wing mission. Obviously both average fps I gave were in the same scenarios and same environments.
-
Well that was embarrassing. Updated original post.
-
I just overclocked my CPU (in signature) to 3.8 GHz using the stock cooler. The temperatures are cutting it a bit close (50C idle without Cool'n'Quiet and other limiters, cool 60s stressed) but I wanted to test this out. With stock 3.2 GHz I was getting 18 fps average, now with 3.8 GHz I get 40 fps average! Massive difference it is really night and day.
If you are having irrational performance issues, upgrade or overclock your CPU!

What in the world is this? Found in Steam>ArmA 3 Alpha>Properties>Betas.
EDIT: Had to link the image rather than post it directly. For some reason it kept disappearing.

I seem to be having trouble with the email notifications from this forum now. I used to get emails from subscriptions, PMs, etc without issue. Nothing changed to my knowledge and now I get nothing. I verified my contact and email settings in my account, and also checked my spam and trash folders in gmail. Is your email service down or something?
Thank you.

So even to play single player it would be wise to install the latest coop version of the mission?
