  1. Everyones getting their panties in a not over this I did not suggest that an admin not deal with this. Question? Do you shut down your servers if no one can admin? Or have you hired people to admin your server 24/7? Unlike some, I can not camp on my server 24/7. I have a life. So there are times that there is no admin around. If you allow voting then these cheats will vote themselves admins. Personally, that seems more dangerous than many suggestions. What if I got on your server while no admin was around and spammed the place with kick votes? It also opens your server up to having some idiot vote himself as admin as the first to connect and them treat everyone that connects badly. Thereby giving your server a reputation of having jerks as admins. Another example, This happened while I was the admin. A cheater connected to a fairly full server using a random name like CodeSkyWolf as an example. When they connected they appeared to be the average joe joining to play. They waited until a few others had connected before they started their games. At first, I saw someone TKing everyone around him. But he was also typing at the same time saying someone had taken control of his character. Then another did the same thing. At first I thought it was just someone trying to cover their dumb acts until he took control of my character. I was out in the middle of nowhere or he would have used me to start TKing. They were also able to send messages as if they had come from me. He didn't have complete control as I was able to also send messages saying it wasn't me typing those things. We shared control. I had no way of knowing who it was. They did not hack the server. They did not get the admin password. They didn't need it. They could take control of any players character. They could send any message they wanted using any players name they desired. Including their own. Then claim someone had control of their character. It could have been anyone. Everyone basically stopped playing and stood there and did nothing. No one typed. They just let the idiot have his fun. They soon decided that this was boring as they were getting no response from anyone and went somewhere else. They had made their point and moved on. Unless the game and DirectX gets a complete rewrite I'm not sure much can be done about this. unless everyone wants to start banning entire ISP's from their servers. You could always run your server password protected and only allow a chosen few to play. I am of the opinion that I do not want to lock out people just because of a few idiots. But thats just my humble opinion.

    Servers for lease?

Wolfservers http://www.wolfservers.com Tell them I sent you You can test their servers out by trying my server. It's also on the GameRail network. Badonline.net - Armed Assault Server http://www.gamerail.com - Gamers need to check this out. The server name will be changing soon.
  3. This is exactly how to handle them. They are children at heart. They do this for attention. It's like the child in the mall that throws a temper tantrum. They know it will get them the attention they lack and crave. If everyone would just stand still, stop talking, and completely ignore them, it would not give them the attention their sad hearts lack and they would move somewhere else. Then just restart the mission and continue playing. Totally ignoring them is the best way to get under their skin.

Where did all the Berzerk servers go?

FYI, my server, Badonline.net has all of the Berzerk missions on it. It's a dual 265 Opteron server on a 100Mhz connection in Virginia. It's also GameRail optimized (on the GameRail network). Currently it's set at 50 slots. I'll raise that to 70 once the server is empty. http://www.gamerail.com
  5. Well, I installed both ARMAAC and Sickboys SIX Pack on my server late last night. I connected to see if it was working and received a welcome message from ARMAAC. I connected again early this morning and as I was connected I had a player connect and start playing. The mission was Evolution 3.0. Two players have been on the server the entire day. It has been running for over 12 hours. When I connected I saw that they were almost finished with the mission. Yet, I noticed no increase in my connect times. I asked how the server has been running and got reports that it's running as smooth as silk. I do not know if anyone has tried to connect using a hack. I received no reports of trouble. I did get some nice feedback from Sickboy's tracer mod. It received a two thumbs up review. First day report: All in the green.
  6. I pounced on this like a chicken on a bug. Now, off to install on my server badonline.net . THANKS!!!!!

    Dedicated Server IP addresses

And since yours is the only reply and your stating that you have the same problem, it seems the program is not designed well enough to have this simple ability. I guess the idea that someone might want to run two copies of the game on a multiprocessor server never crossed the designers minds. That is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
  8. I have multiple IP addresses on my server. I would like to run a second ArmA server. But, when installed, it defaults to the main IP address. Although it uses a different port, it causes lag on the server. Is there a command that can be set in the config file, or start up parameters, where you can manually set an IP address for the server?

    hack in evolution

I wished getting their ID number was that easy. I've been on when someone connected. He was able to take control of any players character he wanted. He even sent messages to everyone that appeared to be coming from me. Since they could use anyone and type anything and have it appear as if you type it, I had no way to determine who it was. It appears that ArmA does not register names with ID numbers. Just the number itself. So we can change your players name every day. Since I could not determine who it was I could not ban anyone. The odds are I would have banned the wrong person.

    hack in evolution

The best suggestion I've seen so far. I'll password the server and I'll make the password available in the forums on the badonline.net website. Many of the regular players on the server have already registered. It sucks that your forced to do this.

POLL: Do you want ArmA Anti-Cheat?

As the owner of the server that started this discussion my vote is YES!!!

    hack in evolution

As the owner of the badonline server I can tell you that it is running the latest patch 1.08. As for antihack programs. If it's something additional to the patch, I do not know about it and would really like to get some info on it. Could someone share that info with me please. Until then the only way I know to stop this is to lock out all mods. It seems my server has got their attention. Probably because it's usually fairly busy. Personally, I wished their mothers would have spent more quality time with them. It has to really suck living a life that unhappy all the time that they have to make other as miserable as they are. When you think about it, it's pretty sad. I really do pity the poor people.
