Havin errors installing 1.02 patch HELP!!!
Joseph Troska replied to DeadlyButters's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Maybe your download was corrupted? Maybe try and re-download the patch. Perhaps try re-installing ArmA2 as well first. ARMA II Patch 1.02 (Updated to build 58134) -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(
Joseph Troska replied to Joseph Troska's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Do some research. There are different kinds of seizures. Grand mal and petty mal. With the latter, the sufferer is almost always conscious of what they are experiencing. My doctor has referred me to a specialist, but says I am showing signs of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, which is quite mild - loss of concentration/awareness, small involuntary movements, blurry vision etc. No falling down and frothing at the mouth. There are many misconceptions about epilepsy it seems. As far as my 22" goes, there is an option on the Flatron monitor itself to force 4:3 and disable the widescreen, so the display is like a square inside a rectangle. I always use the 100% fillrate. I just finished the Razor Two mission. Soooo good! Took me hours, and after playing non-stop I feel fine. Case closed. :) Thanks for the replies people. -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(

I fixed it!!!!! All I had to do was -force my 22" LG Flatron monitor to display at 4:3 - put the game to 1280x1024 (still looks good) no more motion sickness or seizures! The problem was definitely using widescreen and a 1680x1050 res. Now I can play for hours no problem! :) -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(
Joseph Troska replied to Joseph Troska's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I was told the symptoms I am experiencing have more to do with flashing lights/lighting than actual stuttery motion. Now I am convinced the Bloom effects in the game are at least contributing to my unease. I have always set PostProcessing (Blur & HDR) to Disabled, but that weird lighting in the game (like when you look at the ground or change your viewpoint and everything lights up unnaturally) persists. I have read that this cannot be disabled in the game. Is it possible future patches or mods may be able to disable it? -
ArmA2 gives me seizures :(
Joseph Troska replied to Joseph Troska's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
\I have been playing games all my life - I'm almost 30 years old, and the issue only started a few days ago when I bought ArmA2 (and installed the beta catalyst 9.7 drivers). Actually starting this thread was done to ascertain whether others might be experiencing something similar. Seeing as though I have no history of epilepsy or lowered threshold to seizures, and it only started when I played ArmA2 (using beta 9.7), then it only stands to reason that others may also be experiencing it. As I stated in the OP I am unsure whether it is solely the game, or possibly a combination of factors such as the game using beta drivers or other display settings. Please do not call me strange for highlighting what is actually a legitimate concern. -

Thanks for the replies, guys, definitely going to get it checked out. I've always kept the post processing and head bob switched off. Such a shame - I've been eagerly awaiting this game for soooo long - and I envisioned playing it non-stop for days on end. Unfortunately I play for only a few minutes and have to turn it off due to motion sickness/dizziness. -
505 Version: Release Date & Other topics - EU/Aus/NZ/SA/ME/Israel etc.

It's sooooo good having my own boxed copy now. That smell of fresh DVD and manual inside the box that you guys talk about is definitely entrancing. -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't CWR for ArmA1 just a 'beta'? I always thought that the final CWR release had always pretty much been envisaged for ArmA2. You never know, CWR's release for ArmA2 may be quicker than we expect.

While ArmA2 is superior, there are aspects to CWC/Res that have an 'X' Factor that can't be matched. Just wait until Cold War Rearmed comes out for ArmA2. Then we shall have our cake and eat it too :D

To all those who pre-ordered from EB games in Australia, their website says that they will have it stocked on the 16th July (after bringing it forward from 20th August)... BUT BUT BUT - OMG! I rang them this morning (Fremantle, West Aus. store) and they had a few copies in this morning for those who pre-ordered!!! I ran in there and grabbed mine without a second to spare. They still have a few so if you pre-ordered and can't wait a few more days then go in right now!! I'd assume all EB stores in the area would be the same. YAY!!!! - I'll see you guys in a few weeks - I'm about to go install! :yay: -
Chernarus sounds more like the old Soviet country Belarus, even if it is modeled mostly on part of the Czech Republic.

just out of curiosity, how long after the beta drivers are 'leaked' does the official new catalyst usually get released?

6 days until I can smell my pre-ordered hard copy. :) ...assuming everything goes to schedule with EB's proclaimed release day of July 16th in australia... -
IBTL ... why don't you just buy the game considering so many people put thousands of hours work into something you can enjoy

The breadth of ArmA II's SP campaign
Joseph Troska replied to arewenotmen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
OMG SAME!!!!!! To be absolutely honest up until a few weeks ago, I didn't know CWR had been released for ArmA1. I thought that the long delay in its release meant it was going to be kept for ArmA2. I would of dug out my old ArmA1 dvd to install it, if not for the fact I disliked the first ArmA so much and immediately went back to OFP/Res I hope and pray the final Cold War Rearmed will be released for ArmA2. Can you imagine exploring Everon with the ArmA2 engine and looks? Makes me giddy with excitement just thinking about it. -
DID NOT KNOW ABOUT limited SecuROM activations

Hangon, what? Are you saying you can only install the 505 DVD version 5 times? -

Wow! So is this official then, that the release date in Oz isn't going to be so far away after all? -
No Satchel Charge Sound? (demo)
Joseph Troska replied to Diosdemuerte's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The higher revs sound for the offroad car in the demo is also missing. When you accelerate there is no engine sound at all. -
Hey that's a good point about going prone Walker! I love lessons in simple physics!! On another note, and apologies for the offtopic, but if only people could apply the same principles of gravity and physics to the three (3) world trade center 'collapses'. In april this year an international group of nine scientists/physicists confirmed the presence of (active) nano-thermite materials in multiple dust samples from the wtc collapses. Here is the peer-reviewed, published paper, done out of the Dept. of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen (2009 section). Might explain the three buildings (1,2 & 7) accelerating through the path of most resistance, and falling at virtually free-fall speeds.<shrugs>

It's only good for games which have free-look, or a way of turning your head independent of where your gun is pointing. Theoretically if you were to use it in crysis, everywhere you turn your head the gun would follow. No fun.

I am going to buy one of these as soon as I can. Unfortunately I don't own a credit card so I'm unable to buy off the net. It's a shame dedicated game/computer shops in Australia don't seem to ever stock them.. I asked the guys at EB games if they had ever sold TrackIR and they said had never even heard of it. :( I'll find a way

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Joseph Troska replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I'm not quite sure what to make of this: In the ArmA2 demo in the scenarios section I ran the Arma2 Benchmark mission/cutscene. At the end it said: Average 43 fps I run it on a Corei7 920 @ 2.67 (stock) with 6gb DDR3 and 4870x2 (no crossfire) - Catalyst 9.6 and on Vista64 Home Premium with SP2 With Terrain: High, Objects: High, Shadows: High, Textures: High Res: 1680x1050, Fillrate: 1680x1050 (100%), Draw Distance: 2000m Anisotropic Filtering: Off, Antialiasing: Off, PostProcess: Disabled Is that good? -
I think only BI can help us now.
Joseph Troska replied to wazandy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I think it is easy to spot someone who has genuine problems and is looking for assistance. Likewise it is easy to spot those who come on here and in their first post don't list any specific problems, just scream how much they hate BI and love (the thought of) DR. The remedy for all honest OFP/ArmA2 fans is simple: Don't feed the trolls. -
How so? And what is it with all the people from perth on this forum? we should get a LAN party going sometime in this quaint city!

I rang EB Games (west oz) earlier this morning and they told me 20th July, not August. I was first told 5th July a few weeks ago from the same store. Another user on this forum who rang the same store a fair while ago reported here that he was told the 9th July... why is it that people are being told something different each time?
