Uniforms dont matter *too* much in this game, its a tactical game, get your tactics right and someone with an average shot and you'll win more often than not.
Its realistic...
It also adds diversity, otherwise you'd be fighting the exact same enemy as yourself, with the same weapons, no fun in that. If you're bothered about balancing between sides, get the players to switch over teams at the end of a match...

I believe you need to create a ban.txt in the root of your arma application folder. Â See Banning in the Biki.Hopefully that will be made automatically in a dedicated server patch :S
Cant be too hard to make it spawn a ban.txt automatically?
-
MOTD interval is simply the interval between lines appearing when you CONNECT to the server. It will not repeat throughout the game as a scrolling message.

E6600 @ 2.4GHz (awaiting a competent cooler to overclock with)X1950 Pro Mmmmm
2Gb Corsair PC8500 RAM
This is all on normal settings except post processing and blood which dont have that setting and are on low.
On high settings all round (except Anisotropic filtering and shadows which were on normal...dont know why they were but I cant be bothered to redo it)...that includes full AA I got 2601:
These were both done at a resolution of 1024x768.
I pumped up the res to 1280x960 and did the normal test again and I got just over 4000. Now im off to do some 3dmark06s...
Im running Vista so I probably took a performance hit because of it. Damn resource hog...but so shiney...
Excellent... Just ordered that GFX card ATI Radeon X1950 PRO 512mb
And you got the same speed processor as me (2.4ghz) but u got a gig more ram hopefully the RAM doesnt matter too much

^^^Will show you benchmarks of a wealth of systems.

^^^ ArmA system thread =)
I've got 2.4 GHZ AMD 64 processor, 1 GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9550 256mb.
Upgraded my GFX card (due in a day or two) to an ATI Radeon x1950 PRO 512mb, which on various searches on the forums seems to be working well with the game.
If you cant afford to upgrade, overclock a little, tweak your system etc.

Yes its not a bug... Plus this only appears in Cadet mode (most servers run Vet in the full game).
If its a friendly in an enemy vehicle you are automatically going to think its enemy. So you gotta check that name off with your player list (p) before you engage. Or if its on vet mode call out on chat whether its friendly or not.

Well they've improved now a bit... but they're really expensive and dont have the quality of a decent monitor. But with Trackir it must be really immersive

Reading these posts really makes me want to get it but worries me toI REALLY want it..don't get me wrong.
I'm just hoping the problems that are being reported will be fixed is all =)
I still plan on buying it...whether it comes my way *United States* or not
I could always teach myself Czech or something so I can play haha =P
or get the UK version
but my question. In your opinion will my system specs be good enough to run ARMA? I just want to run it through with all of you who have it before I buy it so I'm not disappointed =)
7950 GT OC 512MB
2 Gigs of PC5400 DDR2
Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
and an Intel Pentium 4, 3.2 GHZ processer
anyway hope you all have a happy new year and have a fun time playing ARMA
hope to join you all whenever I can get it =)
You should be able to run it well on that spec i should think
And yeah, give me an M249 And i'll wipe the battlefield clean.. while prone i can destroy vehicles with ease too...
-
Thanks =) If you upgrade your GFX card you should get much better performance from ArmA
-
I made an improvement of about 10 FPS from overcloking my GPU on my Graphics card... There should be an Nvidia overclocking tool if u google it. I have an ATI card so i used ATI Tool and i overclocked from 400-500 mhz and saw an increase of like 10 FPS give or take...
-
Yeah its probably the GFX card.. you got more RAM than me and a faster CPU, i get 15-30 FPS (i overclocked my GPU of my ATI Radeon 9550 256mb)...
Ive ordered a new GFX card which should be here in a day or two... ATI Radeon x1950 PRO 512mb which cost me 140 Pounds.. its said to be a very good card for the money and players who use it with ArmA claim to have no problems.
-
i'd say upgrade ur GFX card if u can, i think thats what would be causing the most lags.. but that system isnt THAT bad.. what FPS do you get on what settings?
EDIT: For those talking about hard drives... Defrag regularly to increase performance, and if you get a program like UltimateDefrag you can put ArmA on the outside of the drive and that will allow for greator performance
-
lol that looks NICE
I mean the explosions have definately improved, but if they can be improved by all means please do! :P
-
Tiger 2650: You need a new graphics card, the one you have is quite old. Thats why you got a low FPS.
And please remove the DxDIAG from the post its stretched the page massively, just link to it or something next time..
-
Well i dont have a joystick, keyboard and mouse only. So the 2nd issue is nothing to do with control conflict... The first might be... If it was a control conflict i'd expect it to happen more often though...
-
You can change the sensitivity of Track IR so u dont have to turn your head too much so its not like looking in the opposite direction. If you're rich enough buy a pair of video goggles and play with them Realism to the maxxx
And does anyone know of any free game capture software with no limits?
-
Ok ive read some of the latter posts and i do not think its accurate to say anyone is being "disrespectful" to customers for releasing the game with bugs.
Bugs happen, i agree, these bugs are very numerous and in all fairness should have been fixed before release. But it is not disrespectful, we wanted the game, we got the game, but with bugs.
BIS are doing things on their own thanks to Crapmasters. BIS were and still are a small company in a secluded part of the world, to create a game on this scale is quite amazing. I'm relying on their patches which are always brilliant and regular to make the game complete. But my only worry is that you are going to turn away customers until you get rid of these current major bugs. The OF fans will buy this game, cause we love it, but trying to increase the fan base is not going to work at the moment im afraid
I still think the AI are weak though, they dont seem to be aware of anything going on, until they get shot, and even then sometimes they dont respond. I mean AIs just lay down in the middle of large open areas with no cover while they should be aware that they are being attacked. I think they've improved since OFP, but i was quite dissapointed to see it with some of the main problems that were in OFP.
But this is a great game, keep up the good work BIS =)
-
Well you could just give them a move order to your feet
-
im sure there will be addons made for entrenchments sooner or later, or build your own using sandbagwalls and stuff...
-
This is a brilliant idea, best of luck with it i cant wait to play my old CWC campaign in ArmA =)
I would offer my help but i have no skillz So good luck

Its interesting but I'm not sure if the animated buttons are really necessary..oh and shame on you for having used a Renegade theme in place of Tiberian Sun,it may be one of the best Renegade themes but still ÂRenegade?!
Ah you mean the soundtrack... ^^
Ye it is, but its nice ;P
@MrZig
It is a hard work with some hundert pics Â
@Jack-UK
we got the permissions from EA, so we can use it. But we will write in the readme a text about it, trademarks etc
And soon comes a new video about our buildmenu...
Sentry
ooo nice, lucky to get something out of EA
So basically its like CTI.. but with Tiberian genesis units/buildings?

I have not encountered your first issue.
I have encountered your second one about not being able to turn twice. Both times it happened when i crashed and died in a vehicle.. Which leads me to assume that when i respawn it still thinks im IN the vehicle or something like that, as i can only rotate my head (yes ive tried the freelook button) but it doesnt explain why i can run but not turn using the mouse (though i can turn using the keyboard)
-
I agree with you but this is not a troubleshooting issue, put it in the wishlist on the forums or the bug list on the wiki...
Expect a close lol

To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?
in ARMA - GENERAL
Posted
This game isnt that hard to learn :\ Plus people are usually very eager to help out, just put a message on global chat in a game and someone should tell u what u need to know. Im always helping people who are new to the game. They'll come in and ask about 'what do i do' and u just gotta tell them about the game and map their playing and some of the basic keys...
The reason you find it crap is because you are comparing to other games like battlefield 2, which i dont really like as it is too much of an arcade shooter for my liking. Hence why i played Americas Army until ArmA is released.
I agree the engine needs some refining, but the game is only on version 1.03 which is very early for a game, and also BIS are making this game independantly...
If you dont like it, give it a try after a few more patches and see if you change your mind on the game. And the comms on this game arent too bad, use the number keys to get up the comms list... the orders in this game are much better than BF2 thats for sure, much greater control.
