Yes, the problem is BIS is a 40(?) man team (correct me if im wrong there) and so development takes longer and there is less manpower. To create what Crytek have created would take MUCH MUCH MUCH longer. Also i remember Suma PM'ed a friend of mine about the Poseidon Engine, and basically, they always use the same engine, from OFP onwards, and its the same engine which is built over time, being improved, modified and rewritten. So from OFP 1.0 -> Resistance -> OFP:E -> ArmA -> Game 2 its the same engine, with more modifications. IMO if there is not some dramatic overhaul of the engine for Game2, then i think the game will be completely outdated. I mean, the physics in ArmA really annoy me quite a lot, collision still is not perfect, falling from height means you cant turn in the air and you are a static model, death animations are poor. Most of this stuff is limited by the engine, and with the same engine being used then i believe that by the time of Game2 we'll end up with just the same game with just a few more tweaks, like ArmA is compared to OFP. But BIS dont have the time, money or manpower to pull off a brand spanking new engine or anything compared to Crytek.. but unless they strike a deal with EA (HELL NO) or some other publisher who will end up spoiling the whole realism idea, they wont be able to pull off something spectacular. So i have no idea for a solution. -
Wow this looks like a great mod, i love the new movement sounds especially, u can hear the equipment make noise and stuff =) I also love the way you're doing Artillery, much more realistic. Unfortunately its so huge :O aparently it has loads of BIS addons in there, is there no way to make it smaller by only adding the edits to the mod instead of the entire PBO? Nice work though!

RTS 1.10 has been uploaded to Karr's server by the way... for those interested. It has more variables at the start, you can choose a different victory and choose between Resources/Resource money/Hybrid of both. Also i'd love to have some more C&H's like berzerk, but over an area similar to that of Battlefield 1985/Riverbattle/Battle Of The Bulge from OFP. Problem is no-one seems to be making these maps. If i had a C&H template i'd be happy to give it a shot myself, but im not a good mapmaker/scripter or anything, so making it from scratch would be pointless. More C&H's more like OFP's style would be great!!

I havent read up much on Crysis but the physics and graphics are AMAZING. Full stop. Also according to this thread the game will be moddable, in which case i see a realism mod coming out for it eventually -
Hey all, just wondering whether anyone else can see the MP server list.. I get a few second pause, then a blank server list when i click Multiplayer or Refresh. I have not changed any settings in terms of firewall/router etc and ive even renewed all the ports for ArmA to be open etc but still to no avail. Just wondering whether it is a gamespy problem or whether something wierd is going on on my PC :S

Why stop at four screens? We can do a 360 view with 8-12 or so screens, it's quite impressive. No pics + videos of that currently, though. Perhaps in the future. I'll hold you to that!!

Yeah... but aparently some people are playing but i cant get the server list at all :| Wondering whether its just me or whether its many people EDIT: as i finished typing the server list is back Mods feel free to close =)

Yeah good idea I used to make civvie maps with lots of vehicles for my little brother to play with, he could sit for an hour on end driving around laughing as he chucked himself off a bridge by poor driving and the such

While us lot are all saving up for 8800GTXs + Quad core CPUs we could have just got friendly with Dyslexci and got ourselves an ArmA Rifle Range :P LOL Great stuff!

CheatIdiots.. and BIS... Question about cheaters..

Well 'allow lists' sort of exist already in communities such as TacticalGamer + 6th Sense.. you need to register with them, use TS, get the server password etc. An allow list for all servers would be stupid though. And yeah ive noticed a decline over the summer.. for whatever reasons :S Personally im getting quite bored playing ArmA these days, same old maps, enjoying new ones that Celery is pumping out, i like the way he twists the features of standard games like Deathmatch/CTF to make them more interesting. RTS is good for a longer session, but its seeing more cheaters/teamkillers in recent weeks. Dont even get me started on the overplaying of Evolution :P -
Thats not a bug, thats just to show grass in the distance ... makes the FPS higher if it does'nt have to draw grass from range, or so says Dsylexi  Noo, sorry i should have clarified. I mean the 'distance' grass layer is present right at your feet so you end up walking through a floating layer.. instead of you only seeing it at a distance

In the complete addons & mods forum. Are mods official? Â NO Do mods have the same quality? Â Some do, some are better.... Are mods made by BIS? NO Game dismiss, we all know all the mods in the world put together are inferior to anything BIS makes. Â Thats not really true.. The only reason they are 'better' are because *everyone* has the addon so long as they have the correct patch. Mods are optional and therefore not everyone experiences them Plus a lot of new models etc end up fixed and modded by the community over again due to innacuracies etc.

And funny :P. But yeah ive seen the 'claws of doom' bug before.. its common with the model of the news reporter for some reason and the animations are messed up... did you place the news reporter in the editor or something? or is this in the campaign itself? Havent heard of the other two bugs...though occassionally i have seen the distance grass layer be too high and you can walk through it up to your knees...

Yeah its more complex than your simple "run and gun" map... But i've found that on the MCY server the ones who stay around and keep at it eventually get hooked and always want to play it again ^^ Im sure soon it will spread in popularity, im pretty hooked, and im crap at it, but its good fun and i can still get the odd kill or flag cap for a sense of acheivement
