@ Mr. Reality: I agree with your post. Im finding it hard to find faith in BIS. Sure i like the game, and i love OFP, but it seems that this community gives them too many excuses. I dont know how they could release ArmA 1.0 in as bad a state as OFP was in its early days.. And to be honest the performance in the game is not acceptable for these modern standards IMO. Those who have working 8800 GTXs still cant max out the settings, and the performance is erratic, bushes can drop your FPS by up to 20 FPS, urban environments and grass all hammer away at it making the game not smooth. Seems to me like they've tried to keep up with the times by chucking new graphical effects like 3D grass and HDR into an engine which cannot support it. The grass kills frames, and gets in the way, when in real life you can still look between grass and see fine as you're in a higher up position. And HDR causes so many issues for some people i wont even get started on it. Im really hoping they DO put some engine improvements or a patch into QG or i dont think im going to buy it.

Same here Radnik. Its stupid.. they seem to have just thrown the grass effect in the game without making sure it actually worked without causing a huge hit on performance. Its not so much the bushes for me, its the grass + large cities. It seems to me that the engine for ArmA is not optimised for the present day, and BIS are trying to keep up with other games by throwing in lots of effects like the grass and HDR and stuff, but the engine just isnt really up to the standard to make these effects run smooth enough.

I don`t think so. It would be stupid, to make the fastest and most expensive hardware the minimum requirement. Dont worry i wasnt 100% serious, but u know what the performance is like in ArmA anyway, adding more shiny crap aint going to help that :P

If you saw that in a shop you'd laugh at it, its poor quality... a mate told me about the original 505 ArmA game box and said that "it doesnt show the immensity of the game at all" and yeah hes crap at english, he doesnt realise immensity is not a real word... but regardless, if the 505 original box lets you down, this will make you cry. I'll remove the image from its box and tip-ex "ArmA 1.08" under the sleeve...

No but the problem is you *dont* get the points often for shooting a tank and then it explodes a few seconds later as per ArmA, u wont get that kill, same with helicopters sometimes, u can shoot em down but not get the kill. Motorbikes i dont know what BIS were thinking when they were added into the game, u cant go for a few minutes drive without getting thrown off, even if ur on a straight road, going dead straight, u'll get chucked off very often. Cant believe BIS let that slip thru the net and still havent fixed it O_o

Yeah same, i love making missions, im crap at it, but i like making them regardless! :P And yeah about Sahrani.. its really laggy and probably the cause of a lot of ArmA problems.. im hoping the expansion will sort that out, but still ArmA has LOTS of performance issues which shouldnt be in a modern game. I also find it hard to find good areas to make missions in? I dunno if u feel the same about that, i found it much easier in OFP :S All missions in ArmA seem to be based around the same places also... Tons of coops start from the South Sahrani airfield, CTF missions are usually custom made 'towns' in the desert in the south of sahrani. Still cant find why i just get bored of the game after a couple of hours tops tho lol. at least i aint the only one!

1950pro, cheap ATM and I play with it settings very high, with 1280x1024. fps ranging from 25 to 60 i have the same card X1950 PRO but the performance really does vary playing a game last night in Corazol, and i had to put all settings on LOWEST and the performance was so poor it was actually unbelievable, i actually felt like snapping my ArmA disc in half and having a huge ass rant on the forums about the poor performance. Sometimes i can get a steady 60 FPS tho :| What drivers are you using? I got a slow down on my 7900GS on the same map as you last night Jack. It was still playable but I did notice a definate slowdown, although thats in no doubt due to the fact we had three hours of blowing up buildings and killing, which all added to the lag. Plus someone might have blew up all the Bridges in the early part of the game  Yea i thought it mite have been a slowdown due to the map, but as soon as i got in the game it was just soo choppy i couldnt aim at a thing, and with all settings on minimum it made 0 difference to my frames.. it even made it *worse* on some lowered settings.. this game is unbelievable lol

I dont know i havent played arma more than once in the last two weeks. Seriously, i cant get into it.. OFP i played for hours on end, i cant play more than 2 hours of ArmA without getting severely bored. No idea why, whether its the community, the game, the way its so similar to OFP and doesnt seem 'new' i dont know. I just cant get into it like OFP :\ only thing i actually enjoy is IC-ArmA :\ lol

I aint bothered that it was chosen by the publisher.. i think they should do that and not the community.. they are the publisher afterall.. But that shot is crap, the text on the top has the default photoshop outer glow, the pic is of a low quality res and on low settings in ArmA. Jeez is this a joke? 1st April was a while ago lads.
