  1. Ryan_D, I really like that police chase video, you wouldn't have a HD version of it for download somewhere, wouldn't you? I have a little colection of videos in my hard drive and I would love that one in it plz.

    Also, have you made any changes to the driving in the configuration? are you using anything modiffied appart for the Camaro?

  2. But in real life, anti tank rounds in RPG still used on infantry, effective? No, but you launch one RPG, even if it misses, soldiers will be running in panic screaming "RPG!!!!!"

    Well i like this feature, now its no problem making soldiers fire at infantry, because in OFP it was almost impossible to make soldiers fire at infantry, even if they had fragmentation grenade loaded. But what i hate is, AI on your team waste all AT-4's, or RPG's on infantry, and when its time to take out armor, they are out of ammo   rofl.gif

    How many hours expended by scripters so units in OFP would fire rockets at infantry and helicopters? Now that we have it in ArmA it is an issue.

    Its an issue because they do so in excess, but if they where to fire them in them really needed ocassions it would be nicer.

    I like the fact that AI fire rockets at you, specially because 8 out of 10 get killed by me because they exposse them selfs for too long before they actually fire, all you guys have to do is put more attention. whistle.gif

    I was playing Berzek the other day, and this guy was firing at me from the buildings, fire and move, I couldn't get the sod, He was bloody brilliant, so I moved to a nice conceal possition and stimated where he would be next, got my RPG and blasted away, right between two buildings so it impacted in the street behind...

    He was gone to respawn heaven...

    The moral of the story, if you can't shoot at them, blow'm away.


  3. I can't belive that I haven't seen this topic before.

    I was only wryting down exactly the same idea to start to develop it but without RACS.

    I though that if BLUFOR have full control of the island but certain spots, like the mountines and so on, where OPFOR can have hides, and set defences so we get some decent gerrilla warfare.

    OPFOR could have acces to a few AA missiles to force BLUFOR to transport suplies by road between air bases, so they would have to worry about their convoys big time, and the SLA players would have chance to get some more weapons and amunition by assaulting this convoys.

    If one airbase is only being suplied from the other one and can only be run with this suplies the BLUFOR players would be forced to make this convoys.

    This kind of mission is going to make every unit and weapon in the game to be necessary.

    BTW, satchels should be easy for SLA to obtain, representing IED's.

    I have lots of ideas for this if you like me to share them.

    I can't wayt to play this in a dedicated server.

    PS: I have the impression that you are building this around the airbase, and I'm thinking full scale here. The reason why I'm thinking full scale is because the more terrain covered the more options.

    A full server runing this would be amazing.


  4. I got a sugestion.

    How about utilicing the accessible houses as civis homes, then make a script that let the civis to have a safe to put their money in, so they have the choice to withraw from the bank and go and put it in their own safes, this way when the bank gets rob and you die at list you have something.

    Could also do with a superstore where you can buy stuff, once you have all this stuff in your inventory you drop it home and you can make a bomb for example, so a satchel gets camcreated for the player to grab it and use it... That will give us terrorist too.

    The safes in the houses will give us burglers, and it would give us victims too, so the thing isn't just between the civis and the cops, you'll also have people looking for revenge, and gangs will be created between players, and so on.

    Peaty we can't shoot from vehicles with small arms, but imagine if there is a gang war going around, at the same time the cops are trying to kip the bank and the weapons truk safe, people robing each other, civis getting payed to kill someone, hey there you'll have hitmen too.

    The possibilities are tremendous, lol.

It would be nice to have a nice set of animations to go with it, Like if you are wounded in the legs, not just having the crawling animation, but a limping animation that can be used too, or if the dammage is too big in a unit it could have an animation representing pain that at the same time don't alow the player to do much other than look around, like having combulsions or his arms on his stomach in a fetal possition, etc.


  6. I don't know if there is a way, but another way to let your mates know where you are is very simple, chek the names at the bottom of the lobby, where you select witch server you want to play in.

    If you clik on a server it will list the few first players playing, so if you know that there is only something like 3 players, and that the mission is Evolution (For example) he'll get to you in no time.

    I always use this feature.

  7. Sure it's possible. I'm doing it for 40mm grenades in my little explosives mod (not released yet). Maybe i'll include RPG's too. But it implies "createVehicle" command which doesn't give you a credit for the kill...

    You need to "create vehicle" even if the projectile detonates?

    That's a pain, isn't it?

    I don't care about not getting credit for the kill/s, I use this sort of modifications for single player only, I like playing MP too much to chance not being able to play in a server because of whatever mods I'm running. wink_o.gif

    And if is a PvP game the enemy will also know when you are about to reload crazy_o.gif You better hide very well while reloading, LOL.

    I was thinking about the sounds when a unit is injured, the screams and moanings and so on; do you have any intentions to update them sounds at any stage? Cos I could get you some stuff recorded.

  9. I tryed this and I love it.

    I was in a plane as the player droping a full load in one of the towns, but I also set up a civilian as playable, so just after I drop the very last one I pres "T" in my keyboard and select the civi, that happans to be in the middle of the bomb run.

    Suicidal? Maybe, but bloody amazing to see them coming and blowing one by one right in front of you.


  10. I noticed that the AI in my squad refuse to stay in the building possition I order them to stay. They move there, but then they follow me wherever I go. If I take this addon from my folder they stay where I say for them to stay.

    I'll have a look if is a conflict with another addon, but in the mean time some one could chek this out, because everything els is A1.

    There is no need for Hd weapons anymore as you can change the AIs dispersion in your settings.

    Yes, but wouldn't that change the accurancy of every enemy in the game? If I was playing a mission against badly trained insurgents and then a group of skilled Russian VDV come knoking my door with the same bad skills, well, that would just be horrible.

    Or I got this completly wrong.

    I just loved how it was with JAM in OFP, I think that that was perfect.

    I was thinking about tagging textures actually. Not a label but a small stamp that can only be seen from a close distance, basicly a signature from the author to stop arguments.


  13. well, that glich I can live with. I recon that this is happaning while is loading a particular LOD; but I got a decent size system, and it would be interesting to see what lower specs are like with this. I doubt there will be an issue.

    If I was you I just add some blood textures in there and it will be more than good enough, because the scope issue isn't something new, I seen it before with some other addons.

    If you find a way to improve it then excelent, if no, is not big issue, well, that's mi opinion.

    BTW, is nice to see people with the initiative and wiling to learn the tools so some more stuff gets released, kip up the good work.


  14. Just tryed this.

    There are some nice textures in there, I like them.

    On the negative side I noticed 2 things:

    1-No blood textures.

    2-They affect performance, I noticed that with just two units in (running a 3Ghz dual core Pentium, with 2 Gb of RAM and a 500Mb Radeon)

    Sort that out and they'll be perrrrrrfect.

    EDIT: Forgot to mention this is in Rahmandi's air strip.

    Also there is not a performance drop, is more like a glitch that happans when aproaching them, at about 10 metres away from them, I take it there is a LOD change around that region.

    Also, trying to snipe a group of this is hard work because once the scope of a sniper rifle is selected there is a significant performance drop. Could be to do again with a LOD?

    Hell, I just add them to the units through the config in the pbo file. You got the class names and ammo available, just do it that way. thumbs-up.gif

    It can go a bit further than just that.

  16. I know the purpose of a designated marksman, and is to give the team the extra edge on long accurate fire, so "in theory" a field sight rifle wouldn't fulfil the purpose. I do like and love shooting with field sight thou; one of my favourite weapons from always is been the G3 with open sights, and the open sights version here would let me enjoy that feeling again.

    I'm about to download this pack, even knowing that it may last one day in the "Top 40", I'm pretty sure that if it bring more than 5 minutes of fun it will stay in my hard drive.

    Experimenting, creating imaginary weapons, or vehicles, or units, that would be impossible to have in real life, that's not an issue, just gives this game (Like in old OFP) the extra edge, just think about this.

    That's the spirit. Create what you please; release it if you please, because as long as one person likes it and use it is well worth the hours of work.

    I always though that chaffs divert radar guided missiles and then they'll blow because I thought that chaffs are small solid objects that when a fast moving missile collides with them would make the weapon explode due to damage.

    I also thought that flares divert heat seeking missiles, and because some of them missiles use a proximity detonation system they'll explode thinking that they actually reached the target.  sad_o.gif  huh.gif

    Oh well, never mind, I think I watched too many films  biggrin_o.gif  LOL, but it would be CAF, init?

    But the island thingy is a good request, isn't? whistle.gif


  18. Sounds pretty strait forward.

    So you just want to discuss about it? Or are you actually going to work on one.

    The way you put it make it sound very achievable, and that would open the door to range finding using a laser in combination with a scope, for sniping purposes, like the way I use it in my air rifle.

    I know that an air rifle and a fire arm is two different things, but the principle of aiming and knowing the amount of sight adjustment to be done by using a laser with a scope should be very similar.
