    JdB Addon Releases

Thanks :) @=SappeR=: Nice work, I've always like addons that haven't been done before  Only some different variants are planned, mainly the country and unit insignia will be changable through hidden selections with some standard sets available in the editor. There may be some slight variants with boxes, ropes or cans on the vehicle. The Dingo only had 10mm of armor all around except for the front where it had 30mm. I'm not sure how the engine would have handled a significant amount of additional metal and the ability for the FIA to fit in a more powerful post-war engine seems unlikely.

    editor addons

They add a lot of stuff (objects mainly) to the editor that BIS didn't configure to be visible in the editor (maybe to prevent cluttering it up with hundreds of entries). All the content is already there, it just isn't showing up in the drop-down lists of the editor until an editor addon is used.

Hehe, what an ugly little thing. Since you're all wrong, but getting closer here is part 3/3: The hint: My suspension doesn't hop along like a kangaroo, but than again I'm not named after that Australian animal anyway. You would think my creator prefers bratwurst over fish and chips but that's really not the case.

An interesting guess, but no that's not it. Hanomags have been done enough already.

    JdB Addon Releases

I've been doing guns (and finishing those of others) since 2003 with very few exceptions and it's become a routine. A hobby should never become a routine imo. I found the work on the Higgins and LCVP more interesting despite the technical difficulties of getting them to work like I wanted because it's something different. The only thing I'd never try is models of living things. Realistically recreating living objects is the hardest thing to do, and only a handful of addonmakers have ever really ventured into that field. Getting closer. I'm of course looking for the exact manufacturer, name and designation (if any) ;) Part 2/3: The hint: I'm no longer in service. I'm not from France but I did spend some time there.

It's not a gun, I got tired of making them. Note that this is only a small part of the total model. I zoomed in quite a lot. When I'm behind my PC I'll post part 2/3.

    JdB Addon Releases

I've started on something new and am going to reveal it in small bits unless someone manages to guess what it is before I reveal the last bit. Whoever guesses right gets ... a cookie. The hint: It's supposed to be metal and obviously not textured yet.

Two measurements that would be really interesting in this case are the angle to the ground that the rocket is in and the direction it came from (a simple compass reading). That would enable tracing it back to it's point of origin within a reasonable margin of error. I doubt the Russians station their artillery units right next to the border so even a 2-3km margin wouldn't invalidate the calculations.

Many of those Russians are "former" KGB, FSB, OMON, GRU etc operatives specialized in "frozen conflicts" which in the former Soviet sattellite states past 1989 have all served the interests of the Kremlin. If they can't get a sattellite back under control they destabilize it to the point of being rendered disfunctional states with people longing back to the stability of the USSR.

That assumes that Ukraine can take certain steps to avoid a Russian invasion. There is nothing that Ukraine can do to prevent it, as Russia's objective is to break up Ukraine and Ukraine's objective is to keep the country together. There is no way for either side to compromise because it would either mean the end of Ukraine or an immense loss of face for Putin. As history has shown Putin never backs down. Imo this invasion is inevitable unless international pressure can make it too costly to Putin's regime and give him an excuse to the Russians for not going in.

How would you rather fight the Russians? With a clear front line or with two enemy strongpoints to your rear? In a military sense option A is the more preferable one.

The Ukrainian army has Donetsk encircled and is advancing on all other fronts as well. Only a complete tool would agree to a cease-fire now, humanitarian or otherwise.

Backing down is not in Putin's nature, his entire image is built on not backing down. The only reason could be that his oligarch friends are feeling the (potential) hurt of sanctions and are pressuring him.

Russian media report that Aleksandr Borodaj, leader of the separatists in the Donetsk region is being replaced by a Ukrainian named Aleksandr Zahartsjenko. Either Russia is withdrawing it's support, or more likely it wants to increase it's military involvement and/or keep it's agents out of the hands of Ukraine and the ICC now that Donetsk is being encircled. Borodaj was the political front, not a soldier. I guess we'll know if more "replacements" are going to happen soon like Girkiv and Antyufeyev.

Found a good op-ed about Russian politics, policy, media and society that looks into the Russian perspective of the last two decades in Eastern Europe. It's rather lenghty ... http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/08/11/watching-eclipse

Are we at the brink of World War III?

Russian "Bear" bombers have been intercepted over the North Sea from as far back as at least 2004. Standard procedure of the Russians to see how NATO reacts to an airborne threat and to let them know they are still there.

He knows the tricks of the trade. In other words he knows what to fear since he has been using the same playbook many times since coming to power. Journalists, opposition members, defectors and many more.

The distance is approximately 120km. Considering the aircraft blew apart in the air over a 10km wide area it can't have travelled the 60-70km needed for a BUK-2M to have shot it down from that location. That would mean it had to have been an S-300. The warhead size of the S-300 is about double that of the BUK-2M which would have meant that even more of the aircraft would have vaporized imo. From the footage is looks like it hit in the middle of the aircraft near the wings (aka main fuel tanks) and caught fire there. The forward and rear of the plane seem less cut up into little pieces and burnt than the middle of the plane indicating the use of a smaller warhead.

The M2 and M2E (not entirely sure which of the two missiles Ukraine uses on their BUK systems) have an engagement radius of 45-50km. The front line is said to be 90km to the west ...

    Legal discussion regarding Steam Workshop

No, you have to check the readme and license file (if there's a separate file included) to see if and how you can reuse the content and ask for and receive permission. Only then can you edit the content and release it without replacing or obstructing the original author's content from functioning as it was originally intended in the case of adding to an existing addon unless the original author hands the project over to you or agrees to let you submit your own work to the addon. Otherwise you are adding to bogus bug reports that the original author might receive or even subduing the original addon entirely. Technical difficulties aren't a valid excuse for editing someone else's content without their permission.

That was during an exercise where the operators would expect to be engaging practice targets whether simulated or physical ones and may have mistaken it for one such target. In this case the plane was travelling out of Ukrainian airspace and the Ukrainians don't have to consider enemy aircraft since the separatists don't have any. Unless a contact was picked up entering Ukrainian airspace from Russia or a country friendly to Russia I doubt the Ukrainian air defence would even bother giving it a second look and if it had entered from such an area it would have been brought down sooner because the closer it would have come down to Kiev the stronger the case would be for the Ukrainian government to point the finger at direct Russian involvement. As the Ukrainian civil air administration was in contact with the plane and didn't have any reason to doubt it's authenticity I doubt they passed it on to the air defence command. There were reports prior to the plane being shot down of a Buk system captured from the Ukrainian army being on the move in the area on the same day and separatists in the same area claimed to have shot down an enemy aircraft 30 minutes before it hit the headlines. 1 + 1 = ?

    World Cup 2014

I feel that the general level of the referees this tournament in regards to heavy fouls and challenges with the intention to injure a player was extremely poor. Very few reds cards were given when there were plenty of attempts to break legs and shatter kneecaps.
