I have a Nano. Â Good to use in my car since i can connect it with my carstereo and it beats switching cd's the whole time. I hate Itunes, that s why i use Anapod manager, that way i can just drag & drop music into my ipod. Â It helps making it more userfriendly for me.

I got my nick from the one of the first ww2 flight sims i played i think it was on C64 or Amiga, can t even remember which one it was. I used japaneise but since most of the arcade highscores only allowed me to put in 3 letters i quickly shortened it to jap.

Happy Birthday OFP ! It s been ages since i posted here, and strangely this is the first website i open in the morning with my first cup of coffee. It s like already said a few times, it s the game combined with this great and might i add mature community that s keeping OFP alive. So congrats to us too I first saw something about OFP i think in the UK PC Gamer way before it came out, got the demo the moment it got out ... bought 2 copies ( gotta be sure ey ;-) ) the moment i got my hands on it which was a few days before official release since i had a computerstore back then and bought it directly from the supplier and been hooked ever since. There are months i dont even open OFP but then there are weeks i even have difficulty not playing it all day long, i think it depends on the time of year hehe. Mostly a new great addon or the OFP Photogaphy thread will spark OFP gamesessions for me. Dont underestimate the power of that thread. Because of the fantastic screenshots in that thread i convinced more people to play/buy OFP the last year then the previous 4 years together. Cheers OFP & Community, you re the best !

I ll second NOT buying Maxtor. They are having serious problems the last year. Selling alot of pc's / parts i must say over the last year the only drives that we re replacing are Maxtor. All die after about 6 months to a year. It s so bad we switched completely to Seagate. My advice, buy seagate. Cheers

I agree with Chris Death and more .. It s like it s really football now. My biggest problem going from 3 to 4 was the speed .. it just didn t feel right it the players moved way too fast. Now it s perfect. Also you have way more control over ballhandling i mean when trying to pass a defender etc the little sidesteps you can do and all without the hassle of pushing 1000 different buttons, it s all more in the speed you have and the way you move your left thumbstick ... brilliant. Now you can really hurt a defense as in pes 4 you couldn t really loose a defender now you can ... brilliant I even had a few ( not many ) runs i took out 4 defenders with 1 move ... brilliant In 4 nearly 80% of the crosses were in the box as now when a defender is pressuring you you wont get it in the box ... Doing the line just isnt that easy anymore and rightly so ... Switching tactics and substitutions have more effect then in 4, i mean bringing in ronaldinhio for Barcelona REALLY makes a difference now ... I have it for 2 weeks now and still i see stuff i didn t before and make me go  AI defending really is improved Switching sides or passing short distance with lob is greatly improved ! Keeper is waaaaaaaay better in coming off his line then in 4 Second line shots are awesome although practise is needed, running or shooting out of a turn is much harder to shoot then it already was ... but it s soooo f*cking satifying to actually score that way Freekicks .... mmmmmh greatly improved.  I scored more fk goals already in 2 weeks then with pes 4 in a year ! The fact that you can have shitty matches like in reallife where no team can do anything right with the ball are there also to my big frustration hehe Only thing i m missing from what they promised ... WHERE IS THE DYNAMIC WEATHER ? Didn t they promise it could start/stop to rain / snow during matches ?  Or else i m just lucky to almost only play in good weather. All things aside, this version for me is a very big step in the right direction ... now let someone make a good option file for the xbox version and you wont hear me again for another year ! I mean the fact that i play with Barcelona with Real life squad ( just to get into it ) on 4 stars and still loose from small teams and maximum win with 2-0 makes me a very very happy man :-) Fifa ... lol .... owned ... again ... by PES. Cheers /edit ( forgot to be negative ) - the music is much worse then before ( if that was already possible ) it s like elevator music now - the ref still loves the AI more although it s greatly improved - Kompany should be way better ;-)

Sorry for the late answer, been pretty busy. Last Fifa i really played was 2000 But i rent it every year just out of interest to see if it s gotten better. Fifa 2005 was in my ps2 for exactly 30 minutes ... even the menu interface was total crap I give Fifa a shot every year ... but like every year it s a biiiiig letdown. I make it up by playing NHL and NFL series every year. Cheers
-
You re lucky he didn t ban you for a week for saying fifa is better lol. I know he s a big PES fan too.

Spoken like a true connaisseur of simulator games

The problem with PES is the same problem with OFP. If you dont give it time you re gonna hate it. I cant count how many people thought OFP and PES sucked cause of it s rather steep learning curve but afterwards when they gave it some time thought they were the best of their category. So reinstall PES, get your ass kicked for weeks by the AI and then watch as you start getting better and start loving this series ... Enjoy

I got my original copy of F4 lying around somewhere ... Can you post a list of links of all the stuff i need to patch/update an original install of falcon, or is it waaaaay too long ? Been meaning to reinstall a few times now over the years but when visiting the Falcon forums and seeing the downloads just makes my courage to do it sink into my boots. I ll have to practice i guess ... give me a few days and i will have got the engine started. Does anyone need someone to help with MP Missions for OFP ? Anyway, lemme know about the falcon downloads, only the essential stuff or things you think you ll need that to make it better. Greetz, JAP

I read a review in a PC magazine about boiling point and they really liked the concept but there was alot of critisism about the game being a bit buggy and sometimes very messy and an unfinished feeling in the gfx departement of the game esp. interiours. Maybe it was still a review copy and they fixed those things in the final release .. i m gonna choose GTA

Lol winters ... Encountered my first passenger liner too today while doing the career .. was in the carribean. Hit her about 3 times all nice and clean and she was still afloat Then i had to step back from the convoy to reload from the outside tubes and some gfx glitch f*cked it all up The convoy more or less left her for dead since she couldn t sail anymore. Due to this glitch my weapon screen started flashing etc .. couldnt reload anymore so i had to end the mission without sinking her i still had about 5 forward torps left and 4 rear torps ... grmbl. I did sink 2 T2's and a troop transport of that convoy. But i wanted to soooooooo bad sink her. The moral of this story ... computers are evil things ! Here she is after 1 st torpedo hit ... Next mission i encountered two lone T3's otw to patrol zone Dont know what s up in '43 but they each needed 3 torpedos to go down Final torpedo hit on 1st T3, other one is manouvering around it and needed 1 more hit also My new submarine in it s subpen in Bordeaux Ex Ronin isnt gonna like my next kill ... spot why .. Cheers

Coool I saw that too last night ... till almost 3am  But i couldn t stop watching lol. We have ADR, ZDR and WDR on cable here, although i never watch them cause they are king in boring programs and schlagerfestival shows but i m lucky i was zapping away my evening and spotted Das Boot. Glad it helped. Cheers

Mr Burns, It s hard to say. It depends on the situation i m in what i do with the destroyers. In case of the large convoy it had only 2 escorts and calm sea so i focused on the escorts first to give me more time to finish off the convoy without any destroyers hunting me. To trick the destroyers i usually dont sneak around but infact let them notice me. Â Be sure that there is about 2km between you and the destroyer then let m detect you, either by going full speed or sometimes i just dive up a bit. Â Then i goto 12-14 m again as soon as i see the destroyer is heading for me. Â I make sure i m sailing away from the destroyer and manouver that he is directly on my 180 and heading in a straight line to me, i go at 1/3rd speed so he gains on me. Just lure him to you and when he s about 1000 900m away he ll start engaging you with his guns ( make sure your perscope is up so he sees your ) once he starts blazing he wont back down anymore, speed up and that s the time to strike, it s a nervewreking phase but he ll hardly do any damage, at least no unrepairable damage. Â I usually shoot my torpedo when he s about 700m away, then i dive to 25m and divert course a little bit and go full throttle. Doing it like this the torpedo maybe misses 3/10 times. But you gotta wait till he s in an attack run steaming at you guns blazing. I also do that when i m heading straight to him but i try to get him on my 180 cause i dont usually use rear torpedos to attack merchants so they are no loss if i miss. I have acoustic ( red tip ) torpedos in the rear so they dont need alot of tweaking before firing. If you have the white ones with a blue tip ( dunno their name ) put it on fast and magnetic and about 4-5m depth. Â Lifts the destroyer mostly half his depth out of the water when it hits. When i m outa rear torpedos i usually do the same and when he s 150m away i retract the scope and put engines full back, it s not the way it s done irl but the bug that running over cause more damage to destorer then sub is a good one. Avoiding destroyers is a whole different thing .. Silent running and patience is the only way i think. When i m close to a destroyer i mostly rig for silent running stay at periscope depth and put the time in 8x and watch my sub icon, if it turns orange i shutdown engine and hope he didn t spot me. Hope this helps a bit. I know my tactics are nothing like they did it in real life but it works for me Cheers

From the SP mission Malta. I use it to test new subversions they offer me in the career. Was testing the IXC/40 1943. She s not a bad boat and they had a much much harder time detecting my sub as with my VIIC anti sonar coated career ship. To really piss the destroyers off ... After 2 successful torpedo hits The finishing touch C'ptain .. she cant hold out much longer .. !! The water calms down after the majority of the 36.000 ton beast slid under water ... My first Nelson sinking ... Cheers

As promissed for the good advice From my 23rd mission .. Most of the times i kinda forget to take pictures once the first action begins due to the tension of those moments .. Me leaving the subpen at Bordeaux Bordeaux isnt actually a bad base to be in, you sail straight out and get a mix of north atlantic and us east coast missions That C3 kill i talked about in the heavy storm First torpedo hit .. She crippled now .. not long now There she goes ... capsizing One of the rare sinkings usually ships tend to breakup in the middle and sink in 2 parts with me Sank another C3 after that but lost most of the ships/convoys when trying to setup that mission due to storm and fog Think i had 2 C3's and some smaller things. Â But had a great time due to the heavy storm and fog catching up with targets and lining up for the kill. Â Was heavy duty and in big contrast of cruising over the atlantic in 1024 Â Lost alot of quality resizing them down, they were all about 4-500 kb big ... Cheers

Thx for the advice. I just got back from my patrol it was awesome ... and there r new upgrades I m gonna stick with my VII i think, there s a new conning tower available and new radar. Gonna wait for the XXI hehe i love the way it looks but doesnt have rear torpedo's right ? My last two patrols were awesome especially my last one. Had to patrol BE82 in the middle of the atlantic, boring .. on the way over i encountered a lone Small tanker, wasted 3 torpedos on it ( 1 rear 2 front ) but was very stormy and couldn t catch up with him to get infront, so i let him go. Then after my 24hr patrol i decided i would sail to New York harbor and check out the scenery cause every time i get a mission close to the US i encounter some bloody big convoy and i head over to it instead of carrying on. Anyway .. guess what ... yep ... BIIIIIIIIG convoy moving slow not too far away. Action time ! It was easy to intercept and for the VERY FIRST time in 24 patrols i was in perfect position and there was NO STORM when i encountered a convoy. It were about 25 ships i guess, some tankers, C3s and the rest coastals, escorted by a V&W and a Tribal. Piece a cake ... First i tricked the V&W into damaging himself and he ran ( actually he stayed far infront of convoy from then on ) then i went hunting for the two T3 tankers nicely tucked away deep inside the convoy. 2 torpedos later they were gone Then i shot a FAT ... meanwhile i was dodging the tribal who was trailing me and was about to commence an attack run on me. Meanwhile the fat hit the small tanker. I avoided him, then damaging him and finally after some manouvering sank him when i took some distance behind the convoy and finished him off with the deckgun. I mainly focused in getting rid of the escorts because it was calm sea and i wanted to do as much damage with the deckgun as possible before waisting my torpedos. To make a long story short, i sank ALL big ships of that convoy and left the remainder of the coastals and small merchants as they were. Was a good mission finally i got some good convoy ambush working out like i wanted. I sank : 2 x T3 1 x small tanker 3 x C3 ( one a bit damaged with my last shells then sank it with my last torpedo i had ) 1 x flower corvette 2 x small merchant 1 x coastal merchent Downed 1 plane that came to the rescue when i was busy sinking C3 number 2 ( second to last ship i sank ) Had a tonnage of about 59.000 + 950 for the flower corvette. I ll post some pics later have to resize and upload first. The mission before that i didn t sink much but had a cool C3 sinking in a very heavy storm. Got some nice pics of it too. Cheers

Hello fellow subbers, I need some advice. I m now in 11 december '42 and i have a fully upgraded VIIC submarine. I have the choice now to buy the following subs : IXB for 5000 renown IXC for 6500 renown IXC/40 for 7500 renown. I currently saved 6016 Renown and i dont know what to take. Should i take one of these three and which one ? Â Or are there much better ones coming soon ? Damn i dunno what to do, i dont think there are any more upgrades coming for my VIIC and i dont wanna waste my hard earned renown on a shitty submarine. Heeeelp ! Hehe, cheers I ll post another story with pics later for some good advice

Yes but you have to remove the plastic bracket to fix the new CPU cooler and you used hammer and screwdriver to get them off ?
-
I still dont think it s the motherboard. Getting more and more sure its the PSU. Also with a P4 cooler you dont need screwdrivers to put it on you normally fix it to plastic brackets on the motherboard. Motherboards are also thougher then most ppl think, you can put on more force then you might think. Â Scratching it is another thing tough. You said you replaced that PSU 2 months ago, you still got the old one lying there ? Â If so, install it and check if it boots, it s only about 7 connectors to swap ;-) Cheers
-
One more quick thing you can try is disconnect the power of the new cooler and see if it boots further. If it does you know there s a problem with the cooler. Dont leave it on too long cause it will crash in about 5 minutes time when not cooled. Cheers
-
Supah, Nowadays the thermal paste is already on a small ( square ) layer on the bottom of your new cooler. It s more like a sticker then fluide paste. Did you try those things i said btw ? If you did and still nothing you can be pretty sure it s either the PSU or the motherboard, although i doubt the moterboard. Even if the PSU is faulty you can still see the light on the mobo, but that doesnt mean the PSU is good. Cheers
