The command topics? Right. Could be reworked I guess, some commands are useless as they stand. 7-2, 3-5 is all you need from there. :D ---------- Post added at 17:41 ---------- Previous post was at 17:38 ---------- Sweet, that's exactly what I have in mind. Can't you "stream" new actions onto the rose-wheel? Empty, invisible waiting spots for new Actions in the vicinity/context - are you saying that they can't be swapped places easily?

In what way would the motor functions be affected? What I don't like is people putting themselves into these artificial environments and then come back screaming with their profound results... The UFC analogy is poor, two fighters are in a cage, there's no Flight in the equation - sure you can give up, but the fight doesn't have the same dynamics as it would in the real world. Here's some artists, UtRu7FAe3IY Get my drift. :)

Context-sensitive you mean the crosshair? There needs to be an increase in the deadzone to trigger a pop-up for Action, because as it currently stands, you're actually looking for a few pixels to initiate ladder climb, open a door etc.

Obviously, but the derps here expect me to roll on the floor in horror and psychological agony due to some artificial gimmick system and not fire back at them. I know the characteristics of M9 in ArmA, that's why an opponent wielding one is usually a non-threat - not my problem that it's 9 mm and holds only 15 rounds with crap accuracy - update it in some way, and we'll adapt accordingly. ---------- Post added at 17:14 ---------- Previous post was at 17:10 ---------- That was tongue in cheek as an other extreme to the proposed solutions. Regarding the previous condition that you posted: good luck implementing time dilation in multiplayer. All I read previously is demagogy and bullshit, no one has proposed how the system would work, so it's still amusing.

Which part of, Is so difficult to understand? You're not making any sense: the fire element could be sporting 3 squads with 3 SAWs and rest with M16s to suppress a single fucking target - FIFTEEN men for ONE person. You people expect "suppression-derpression" to happen every single time no matter what. CoD is down the corridor and out the window on the left. P.S. To reiterate for the thick-skulled: handgun-nonsuppression correlation implies physical inability to intimidate the target in any way or form due to either 1) caliber of the ammunition used; 2) number of rounds available per magazine; 3) rate of fire for said handgun; 4) accuracy of fired rounds.

What the hell, an M249 SAW can't instill that belief in a rational, sane human being on the opposite end of the barrel? You're indulging in demagogy there, you sneaky rabbit, you. :) http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/basic_rifleman.html http://dslyecxi.com/images/arma/ttp/suppression_fire_illustrated.png (129 kB) Wait, you people want to actually "suppress" with your rifles and handguns? Clowns! :p ---------- Post added at 16:28 ---------- Previous post was at 16:24 ---------- Nope, those things actually feel genuine, and are part of the "physics", because of the distance traveled and the weight carried is directly responsible for fatigue. :P What some people here are suggesting is closer to neural science and brain surgery. :D

Anatomy of the human body is not an occult secret, and I bet everyone in the civilised world has seen mass murder in the concentrated camps of World War II, there's no need for me to further indulge in "looking" at mangled corpses. The way you present the topic gives me an impression that you take pride in death, or suffering. I don't get it. I agree with previous posters that the character is a vessel: want to be a murdering psycho and try your luck in PVP? How about a rambo? What, do you want to use the grenade launcher Dslyecxi-style and silently rack-up the kills behind enemy lines? Sure, go ahead. Speaking of which, http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/tactics.html Read up.

Happens all the time in ArmA II, you joined this game late, most of us are waiting for ArmA III to show you how it's done. jbqzST_3Bno Analyse the encounters, tell me how would my character behave in each of the situations presented, what horrific convulsions must I go through to accomplish this mission? Thanks

Aww, but where's the "great physical stress" with bullets merely flying around, not hitting the subject? That's an over-reaction by the nervous system, bordering on system shutdown due to extreme pain. Are we talking wounds again? These extremes of either side are getting boring. There shouldn't any gimmicks to the collection of systems, which is ArmA - just simulate proper physics and its effects on infantry and we will all be fine -> See ACE 2. I'd rather wait for an eletrode-to-the-brain helmet with VR displays to simulate anything concerning consciousness.

Both really, former being applied to AI: ineffective utilisation of rate of fire, slow tracking mechanisms, it often feels as if AI won't fire till they have an absolute lock with 99% hit rate. This lock deadzone needs to be increased, even if they miss like 40% of the bullets. The latter rings true in PVP with respawns.

Stress and going prone doesn't correlate - an ignorant target would most likely keep on running in hopes of whatever imaginary relief. Why would you go prone in an open terrain, or a valley? Why not zig-zag some more? That's because you don't know what would happen, humans decide what will happen in every situation, given the circumstances. They decide by simply playing the game. We're talking professionals now? This suppression "mechanics" has even less effect on them! Adrenalin sharpens your vision, a direct, apparent threat will be quickly refocused and tracked no matter what - is this disputed? I'd rather concentrate on running with keeping my head straight, while trying to pick out the threat in the corner of my eye. But again, circumstances, circumstances. I haven't seen a demonstration/example or an in-depth definition/description of this. Sorry. :(

I think it's the most eloquent solution to Weps-Command problem and it doesn't employ radial menu for commands, which would be a bit unwieldy because of the number of sub-sections/directories. No key bindings would change, apart from the automatic function toggle of the 0-9 number keys, upon selecting a unit.

    Development Blog & Reveals

Precisely. Aaand I think we have found a solution to Weapons-Command thanks to Guess Who: slave the command menu context of the number keys to F1-F12 unit selection. With no unit selected, 0-9 number keys disable commands and are used as weapon/gadget selection by default. Would this be technically possible? :o

The tactic employs bullets. That's it! Nothing else! For if you dare to disregard this tactic and expose yourself, you will be hit by a projectile traveling at multiple velocities of the speed of sound. You will surely drop dead with no motion blur and/or slow motion.

Exactly, true art can bring out the emotions in you by sheer integrity of immersion that it provides, or profound concepts, which the viewer can associate with. ---------- Post added at 12:01 ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 ---------- Any beautifully-constructed System, that has a set of coherent Laws can be used there.

Go prone and do what? Not fire back? No you wouldn't, if your brain tells you - "YOU WILL DIE". Bullshit, adrenalin kicks in and you either keep on running and get gunned down with no further warning at all, falling down flat and hard, or you look for a moment to open up on the threat. You can't stop heightened alertness levels with high pulse rate and twitchiness - I wouldn't call that perfectly calm. What are you talking about? All of the arcade shooters have said suppression systems, hampering vision mainly, but still.

7-2 is command menu territory, we're talking about Actions! If you hardly use any menu in ArmA, then why all the irrational fuss about not being able to "Set up fire" and kill your enemy at the same time? Rose menu speeds up any Action activation, not to mention reducing the number of steps to get there.

One will be zig-zagging and bending oneself, which coupled with heavy breathing and aim shake that is already in-game, already results in not pinpoint-accurate fire - there's no need for gimmicks. ---------- Post added at 11:21 ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 ---------- My point is: the Universe doesn't suspend its Laws in order to prevent the destruction of most Holy of Holies. Our emotions are a result of our environments and a ton of biology, which had existed since time immemorial and are subject to said Laws. BIS can be God too. P.S. God doesn't use gimmicks. :)

Fight or flight has kept countless species alive on this planet, and you sometimes have to roll the dice. ---------- Post added at 11:11 ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 ---------- ACE amplifies near-tank experience by subjecting one to overpressure of tank cannon fire - example couple of pages back, it think this alone should be in-game, then you begin to respect armour and cream pants with joy.

Running out of arguments against the radial-rose menu? It won't be different in size to the current scroll menu, or your vanilla compass - how does it take up space? You can't make an argument in favour of a 1-dimensional scroll list, when 2D solution is present with TWO less keys needed. Only 1 key to operate the menu - isn't that a charm? I apologise, didn't mean to sound condescending - heated discussion that is all. :) P.S. Please do tell which Actions you use during firing. Thanks.

Good fact, this means everything is optimised and perfect and the interface is not clunky? That's a logical fallacy. Reread the previous pages. A radial Action menu would not be in the middle of the screen, it would sit in the same position the current menu does, or any other convenient spot, and it would be the size of your compass. And please, disclose what Actions do you use in ArmA while you're "point-ing and shoot-ing" at the enemy at the same time? This is not a troll comment after a fruitful discussion? I think you're being a troll yourself, Guess Who, or at least you're misunderstanding the issue at hand. ---------- Post added at 10:49 ---------- Previous post was at 10:45 ---------- Another good solution to Weapons-Command problem. I'm starting to regain faith in you, Guess Who. :) In fact, this is the best solution to date: I don't remember ever using the number keys without F1-F12 unit selection involved, apart from arty strikes and misc stuff. BIS, are you listening? :o
