Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
Iroquois Pliskin replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I suspect the last few pages will mysterious disappear, once an update is available. :icon_mrgreen: -
And you'd rather have the horrendous, unplayable LOD-switching experience like in Chernagorsk? Feruz Abad on Takistan with "sand coloured rooms" is a hundred times more fun than Cherno, Elektro or any of the smaller villages, like Stary Sobor. ---------- Post added at 13:38 ---------- Previous post was at 13:36 ---------- Good screen grabs. Since most of them are enter-able, a mission/gamemode with respawn points on the outskirts of these towns will quickly change the landscape for the better - ruined/destroyed structures will bring "variety" to the town. :D ---------- Post added at 13:57 ---------- Previous post was at 13:38 ---------- OTDDwKQncEY They didn't enter in buildings, but this looks like it could become very dynamic, although this particular coastal town probably wouldn't be the perfect choice for respawn missions, since there aren't enough buildings and the ones which you see, will be destroyed. :)

Are those crew hatches on the rear-view of the diagram? Hehe.

Lost me here. Ping Pong must be the pinnacle of gameplay then. Immersion and smooth game mechanics, who need em? Eh. Flying tanks, flying infantry down the stairs in a linear projection, control lock-ups everytime your character gets off the ground by 1 mm and then lands and comes to a stop etc - nope, no, the current "physics" (LOL) engine in ArmA II is not affecting gameplay features. :icon_mrgreen: ---------- Post added at 13:14 ---------- Previous post was at 13:09 ---------- P.S. Some people never leave the Editor in this game. BIS are quite generous for some reason, providing a platform for film-makers, wannabe modders, programmers, who are just starting out and many others, though that list doesn't include the Player. ---------- Post added at 13:22 ---------- Previous post was at 13:14 ---------- sGnFy5NzNjA J7wcAAitfCk QDwp6QeYveg Can't do the last bit without gimmicky scripts - says a lot about gameplay. Something fishy is going on, could be a RAM problem, since a lot of data is moved into RAM memory before being applied to the actual data files. Like I said, 1.02 is a very old version, you'd be better off purchasing ArmA II Combined Operations, which includes Operation Arrowhead and Takistani island that everyone plays nowadays online. :) -
Can copilots control aircraft?
Iroquois Pliskin replied to Bonx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
In ArmA II - sadly no, otherwise I wouldn't have lost so many Littlebirds to sniping DshkMs. :D It's one of the proposed ArmA III features/wishes. -
Pics, nothing explicit - http://www.nationaljournal.com/nationalsecurity/the-aftermath-of-the-u-s-consulate-attack-pictures-20120912 Looks like a nade started a fire in the building. No idea what happened to the car.

E3 2011 demo didn't have it. If volumetric clouds are present along with PhysX integration, it's safe to assume those particles are dynamic, hence their relatively short lifespan due to overall performance consideration, as seen in the GameTrailers vid. -
Day Z Announced as standalone title.

Zombie-in-Picture, Undead Copters? Aw, come on, they're way off the mark of what the people wanted, hence - DayZ. -

Has this been posted yet? http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/31347010829/the-integration-begins ToH engine and paper-over of Chernarus buildings is a good start. Stary Sobor with fully enter-able houses would've been so much fun 2 years ago, not to mention Chernagorsk laggy industrial area needs a revamp. -

Oh, yeah, you'll be able to join all vanilla 1.11 ArmA II servers, though most people run ArmA II + Operation Arrowhead expansion together nowadays. Did the those patches work? Example of a server, where you'll be able to play - http://arma2.swec.se/server/data/191769 Although, most are running ArmA II Combined Operations 1.62, which includes the "Operation Arrowhead" expansion pack - http://arma2.swec.se/server/list Once patched to 1.11, your next best step would be to purchase Operation Arrowhead. :) -

I'd be interested to see how this derp system could be improved on a PC exclusive title, Menu itself can be displaced off centre, but the crosshair would remain context-sensitive for AI commands. -

Now, give Pliskin a medal, I have done 0.0001% of maionaze's work. -
Good to hear, I wish BIS would hire you for ArmA III to remotely adjust the balance and fix bugs as the Official CTI Dev, but they probably know you will do that regardless, cheap bastards. :P nMarauder, another great thing about CTI Warfare is that everyone can participate in a meaningful way to the best of their abilities in any way they want. Total nabs don't get access to aircraft straight away, if they don't save up $ and truly impact on the game all the way upto the point, when the Aircraft Factory is built and relevant Upgrades are complete.
-
Yeah, Warfare and ArmA II is like that. :D The public used to play it 24/7 2 years ago with full servers, it shines even more in PvP, because the balance is so finely tuned, that games often lasted from two to six hours. Benny better bring it to ArmA III. :icon_mrgreen:

1998 and Counter-Strike called, they wanted their feature back. Good to see it confirmed, so does that mean two loot points are created, i.e. press G around a character and you can get items on the body, then move up 10 metres and do the same for the weapon to pick it up? -

180 vs 125, not exactly double. :) That's pure superstition RE Intel + Radeon compatibility. This new generation 7-Series are great, as were the 6-Series & 5000s before them, and 4800s prior that to that etc. Current AMD GPUs are built upon a 28nm manufacturing process, which is far more efficient in terms of waste and heat compared to the 40nm Fermi cards - the 550 Ti. If you can't get a 560 or a 560 Ti, HD 7770 is the next best choice. http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-radeon-hd-7750-and-7770-review/2

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?
Iroquois Pliskin replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Cool story bro, but in the ArmAverse we're limited to 0.80 Mach speeds, which is the RL maximum for the L-159 - the aircraft is lightweight and carries the same armaments as the F-35. Unless you can prevent the F-35 showing up on the radar, it's going to be a close call. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_L-159_Alca#Specifications_.28L_159A.29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-35_Lightning_II#Specifications_.28F-35A.29 Empty weight thrust-to-weight ratio is 0.66 for L-159, and 0.95 for the F-35; loaded: ~0.44 vs ~0.55 The L-39 in Op Arrowhead is competitive, the only downside were: the engine, lack of ATGM/AA missiles and no missile launch warning system. ---------- Post added at 13:44 ---------- Previous post was at 13:39 ---------- I feel your pain, but Celery is on our side, Qaz ya nab. :p ---------- Post added at 13:48 ---------- Previous post was at 13:44 ---------- Heh, not to mention the cargo space for infantry. :p And that missile 4+2 layout on each side is very arbitrary, since the whole aircraft is fictional, the number could be reduced to 8 missiles at a whim. I understand that they want to have a heavy-hitter against Blufor tanks, but there's a Merkava in the game and who knows what other AT. -

LOOOL. Well, ragdolls are a concept: the skull on the ragdoll characters doesn't deform (animate) in any way, but that doesn't prevent it from rolling downhill, if it becomes detached from the body. :) I suppose a "rigid body" definition would fit better here. -

Would a real ragdoll create two new loot points on a kill, i.e. character gets shot on the edge of a cliff/guard tower, drops dead, but the weapon goes over the edge/over the raillings and keeps tumbling down until finding a rest spot? :) -

Conflicting info: either 300 or 400 for landmass. Papanowel is correct, though, the whole map is 30 x 30 km with surrounding water included, makes for 900 sq. km area. :D :D :D -
