  1. Pity the textures look like they are from the 256MB VRAM era.
  2. Looks really neat! Only real gripe I have atm (since the others are just cosmetics, and I don't envy you doing new animations!) is the instant transition from standing walk to crouched walk. I hope that'll get slowed down a little?

Are speed readouts in mph or km/h?

That's what I said: Brits. It's just Brits in different areas of the world :P
  4. Yep. If it wasn't for the poor training of the Iraqi crews and that the M1s had better night vision it would have been a much tougher fight. M1s up against Russian T-72s would have been a very even fight, most likely.
  5. The T-72 and M1 - yes. The M1A1 got most importantly a bigger and better gun, and the M1A2 has got even more upgrades. Even then the M1 had better armour than the T-72 which still relied more on numbers than 1v1 fighting.

[Mini ACE2 SP Campaign]A Noble Cause

It's a "yes and no"-case here. AI reacts to the ranks of the enemy they fight, so even if higher rank doesn't automatically make the AI better, ranks do have an impact on AI morale. If I recall correctly high ranking AI is more aggressive than a low ranking AI, who prefers cover more than shooting. Indeed though it would seem logical for such a reason to make SpecOps at the very least Sergeants, so that they fight with more confidence and aggressiveness than their avarage opponent.

Time for you Brits to stop being stubborn, and start to use the same measurements as the rest of the entire world, so you can get rid of the conversion headache! :D

    Ai thread

Not really, as long as they remain in combat mode or stealth mode. Both those behaviours makes the AI prefer slow, bounding movement.
  9. In the event of penetration it indeed is. The comfort for T-90 tank crews is that scoring a penetrating hit on a modern T-90 is much more difficult than on a T-72. It was also the reason for the now abandoned Black Eagle tank project (modernization of the T-80 with a new turret, with a blow-out magazine like on western tanks), so that they too would have a tank which - when destroyed - doesn't instantly kill the entire crew as well.
  10. T-80s are the 'heavy' tanks of the Russians - yes. But after Chechenya the Russian military has come to *hate* the T-80s and sworn to 'never ever again gas turbines', prefering their (nowadays as heavily armoured as the T-80) diesel-engine T-90s.
  11. I agree that more realistic tank damage would be nice. The current system is some mix of expected tank toughness and zoned damage that 'bleeds' into other areas. Essentially the compared toughness between the tanks is about as one can expect though. T-72 terribly weak by modern standards, T-90 fairly tough since it has several armour upgrades, and the M1 a total beast since it is designed as a really heavy, high-quality tank. Not sure about having the crew fix the tank though. Arcade enough as it is with the supply and repair trucks, but how can the crew fix that mean damage in the field, without large and heavy tools (i.e. repair truck) ?

    Realistic Armor Fights and Penetration.

Depends. Porting the tanks to a playable state is probably fairly easy (if one doesn't care about the graphical juicyness of ArmA2), but to implement it on existing vehicles is impossible unless the model is available to be edited, because to work properly the tank need to have an accurately modelled gun sight in the actual tank model, not just as a texture (which is how it works per default in the game).
  13. If it is hosted on Fileplanet it might be free to use in a non-profitable manner (like these addons), but it might also be under a 'personal use only' license. Best to check that. Edit: Been checking around to try to find info, and it's not easy. On Fileplanet it just says 'free to download' (for the Project IGI soundtrack. I obviously can't find the IGI2 soundtrack there since it's part of the game release), Innerloop who made the game doesn't exist anymore and neither does their website, and finding info at Eidos (the publisher) isn't a walk in the park either since they have no forum section for the IGI games.
  14. Do you have written permission from the creators of IGI to use the soundtrack in this way?
  15. 1: There's no 'bang' as the initial charge goes off 2: The rocket engine starts the instant the round leaves the SPG-9's barrel 3: The rocket engine seem to burn indefinitely.
  16. The Carl Gustav and the SPG-9, and the M136 AT-4. All of them are (potentially) rocket-assisted recoilless rifles. However unlike actual rocket-weapons like the RPG, TOW or FFARs they don't fly by the power of a rocket engine, but use it to extend and stabilize their flight, but work more like a rocket-assited cannon round. All of the above mentioned weapons function by letting half of the explosion force from the ignited propellant exhaust backwards to counter the recoil movement of the weapon. The SPG-9 is a 'soft recoilless weapon' in that it has quite extensive rocket assistance (not near as much as depicted in game), and the CG *can* have rocket-assisted ammunition to extend its range. The AT-4 isn't rocket-assisted at all after the charge leaves the tube. ACE does this quite well, and shows it can definitely be done in the default game.

    Mi-24 fix

Dunno if the AT missiles actually should be 'fixed' though. They are horrible IRL, so I can't see why they shouldn't be horrible in-game. =/

Steam - opinions and experiences survey

Not Steam only. I prefer hard copies for my games, and I do like to get to install them where I want (should an HDD get full for example) rather than be forced to install them all into the Steam folder. And well.. I don't like a 200MB patch to become a 5GB download.
  19. INKO Disposable UPDATED TO 1.3! Information: This addon for ArmA2CO makes the M136, NLAW and RPG-18 man-portable anti-tank launchers disposable as they are in real life. After one shot the tube is spent and cannot be reused in any way. Ammunition size has been removed for players. Or rather, the magazines are removed from the player unless the launcher is weaponed. This means you have to reload the launcher every time you weapon it, and it is there to simulate having to remove the safety and flipping up the sights. Carry a disposable launcher and you know you'll have ammo, as will your AI buddies as long as they have a useable launcher. The spent tube can be thrown away after firing simply by switching weapon (default key: F). AI throws it away automatically shortly after firing. The addon has full Extended Eventhandler support. Purpose: Aside from being a simple addon for a slightly more realistic game it is in great part designed for other addon-makers. The code has been kept as simple and as modular as I have the wits to make it for the simple functionality it has now. It is fully possible to make this work with disposable launchers in other addons by adding a few variables to those launchers's config and should require no tinkering with INKO Disposable at all. Version history: v1.3 (20010-09-05, CO ONLY!): - Added: NLAW launcher has been made disposable - Added: M2A2 has got disposable launchers added to its cargo. - Changed: All OA and BAF vehicles and ammo boxes has had their disposable launcher ammunition changed to actual launchers. - Changed: Addon cfgPatches class name changed to inko_disposable_oa v1.2 (2009-12-06): - Changed: Empty tubes are now locally created objects on all machines and are not retroactively created on JIP clients. This is all to reduce net traffic and improve overall performance. v1.11 (2009-09-10): - Added: LAV-25, AAV-7, BMP-3 and BTR-90 have got disposable launchers added to their cargo. Numbers depend on vehicle size. - Fixed: Ammo boxes and vehicles have got their cargo changed to provide enough launchers - Fixed: Correct displayNames for magazines - Fixed: Magazines (rockets) on ground are now invisible. v1.1 (2009-09-09) - Added: Automatic ammunition management for players and AI. As long as you carry a M136 or RPG-18 you don't need to worry about ammo anymore. - Added: Ammo won't take any inventory space for players. AI carries ammo as normal though, not to mess up their ability to fire. - Added: Forced reload when weaponing launcher to simulate preparing the weapon. - Added: Automatic throwaway of launcher when switching weapon - Fixed: Player is no longer forced to kneel and drop weapon shortly after firing - Broken: Discarded tubes might spin like a merry-go-round and bounce like a rubber ball. v1.01 (2009-08-23) - Fixed CfgAddon entries - Added module for reduced inventory size for M136 and RPG18 rockets (inko_disposable_ammosize.pbo) v1.0 (2009-08-23): - First release Special thanks to zGuba for his assistance and cooperation! !!! IMPORTANT !!! THIS ADDON REQUIRES COMBINED OPERATIONS PATCHED TO AT LEAST VERSION 1.54. This addon requires the Extended EventHandlers found in CBA! Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

I actually have to correct my statement. Even though the gameplay is still as terrible as in the two prequels this game actually turned out having a quite nice story. Wrapped up nicely in the end.
  21. CM just need to glance at Activision to see that people are willing to pay A LOT for feces. Activision keeps selling the same dung they've sold for a few years now with the CoD-series, and despite it being the exact same dung every time more people than ever thinks it's a marvelous idea to cash out $60 for Black Ops. If that's not encouragement for Conmasters to make absolutely no effort at all in making a decent product I don't know what is.

MW1 in a new package, with just the same bad gameplay and a just as stupid story. Yay. Save your money, folks.
