At the risk of going offtopic 1. The Centauro and Rooikat are much heavier vehicles than an LAV, AFAIK with a wider footprint too. 2. The inability or limited ability to fire to the sides on the move is or has been common to all WAFVs equipped with Tank (this includes 90mm) calibre gun systems, even low pressure systems such as the panhard turret and the Lynx H90.

Edited for not having read the first page Its a valid point that dozens if not hundreds of military users around the world have been happy with the Piranha/LAV series vehicles...then suddenly this one version is supposed to be a piece of crap. All because some lobbiest for the M113 Upgrade started a hate campaign.

Hi Guys, Basically I want to kick off a discussion on Artillery systems in OFP, firstly because theres room for improvement in the current systems. Secondly because I can't keep track of what CoC or VME or other scripters individually are doing. So I have 3 questions: 1. CoC is the most realistic system in my experience, but could it be made (a) More realistic--with a WGL style real grid system and the introduction of Mils protractors and an AI FOO for when you want to play as an infantry observer. (b) more immersive--by this I mean that specifically enabled AI units will use it of their own accord when suitable and compete with the player for access to assets were appropriate. 2. VME is much more flexible in my opinion because its a very simplified system that allows the AI or the player to use a greater variety of Arty, Air and manouvre assets through one basic interface. (a)However could this system be given more realism without a major trade off on its simplicity. (b)And also could the AI be made more inclined to call arty by a game logic or a script running in certain opfor units. 3. My third question is could and should systems like Snypirs excellent support script be integrated into addons or given a plug and play feature so that a simple init line will enable and encourage an AI unit to use these. There are other questions I wont delve too far into due to my lack of scripting knowlede. Thanks, Imshi

It set some sort of roadspeed record alright, although that was a stripped down version specifically for setting that record. They are nonetheless extremely nippy, and can go places that infantrymen can't. Like over bogs and up ridiculously steep slopes.

Maybe this is a stupid question but is there any way to have enemy AI riding on the Toyotas? Excellent work guys, the only thing I can find to dislike about it so far is that....well...no I'm stumped

Never been a great shot but two most accomplished moment in OFP were in SP (Still an MP virgin ) First was with BAS delta type addon in Tonal, when our crashed blackhawk came under attack the AI rescue force and myself conducted a gallant (and painfully carefully set up) local mobile defence as well as firing from inside the wreck itself. When the African militia forces unexpectedly started circling around our position ( I think due to the hills AI paths more than inhuman cunning) I ran out of cover to stop an AI RPG gunner from firing into the crash sight, then I discovered myself out in the open with 14 or so HD blokes spraying in my direction so I did what any gucci BHD afterglow DeltaHaxor would do and calmly ran towards the enemy firing as I went, killed 10 or twelve blokes with one magazine, then emptied my masterkey into another bloke before switching to pistol and managing to panic fire the final enemy to death. Quite the rush. The Second instance also involved Tonal (and I think Code Blue beta testing units) an M240/GPMG and a large number of enemy running through a narrow mountain pass on the outskirts of that abandoned city.

Have you got a set or do I have to make one? We have our own, troops, nothing particularly artilleryish about them...hard to to portray insecurity about your endowment in OFP.
