    Combat boots

Since I got my combat boots recently (I'll be entering service in late August) I was wondering, do all NATO countries issue the same combat boots to their armed forces? My boots are officially called 'M90 combat boots'. What kind did you wear during service? And were they comfortable?

Air tanker crashes over big elk fire

Wow, that plane first appeared in 1942. No wonder the wing just snapped off like that. It does take a very brave pilot to fly one of those though. Rest in peace.

What to do with my life

Do you people mean yacht perhaps? Oh well, Albert, I don't know how old you are but if you're, say, 20/21 I'd go and see a bit of the world, do whatever I feel like. Just sit back and enjoy the show they call life. There's plenty of time left to be serious.

Personally, I think those 'peacekeeping missions' are a bit irresponsible. I mean, you send soldiers in between two hostile sides that want to have a go at each other. Then, the soldiers get little equipment to defend themselves with and they can't shoot first. Plus, they get nice blue helmets and flashy white apc's and trucks. Very dangerous and irresponsible on behalf of the UN.

    What nationality would you be?

Hahaha, I see a lot of people would want to be Dutch. Well, it's not a bad country at all. Personally, my second choice (after my own nationality) would probably be Australian. That country just appeals to me a lot.

    Moron of the month

Pfff....the cops over here are the exact opposite. If you kill two kids and hide them in your freezer you get a slap on the wrist. I wish that cops over here would beat a criminal up every now and then. Makes tham think twice before they do anything again. Of course, we don't know whether the boy was guilty so he's a 'suspect', not a criminal.

Euro is turning people into nazi's :)

In other words, the Euro will only affect your economy, not your traditions. Both that, and Holland kicked your asses back in the 17th century

Why is it called "The Hague"?<span id='postcolor'> I'll try to explain it. As Denoir already said, it's english for 'Den Haag'. Now, Den Haag is officially called " 's Gravenhage " which is short for "des Graven hage" which means something like 'the count's hedge' or so. It's a little more complicated than, say, Amsterdam.

Liechtenstein Yeah, it's a dot, but the Vatican, now that a dot. You'll walk through it before noticing you're in the Vatican. Anyways, back on topic: Age: 19 Location: The Hague, home to the beloved ICC Workplace: At the moment a temporary job at the Dutch Wargraves Commision. After the 14th of August I'll be in the military. Income: about 1000 Euro's a month. More than enough. Status: Low on the food chain at my workplace. However, I've been approved to the Royal Netherlands Naval College yesterday so I'll be working hard to become a naval officer the next five years. I'll start out a sailor though.

What about the standard weapon of the Dutch Armed forces? The Diemaco C7. Basically a modified M16 A2 with optics. The optics are known to break off under harsh conditions though...

Some Hitler perodies are actually funny. Take 'Mr. Hilter' in Monthy Python's Flying Circus. Now that was funny. 'Vote Hilter for a better Meinhead' On a different note, I think Britain is better off with the Pound Sterling. The Euro sucks ass. I wish Holland never participated in it. Everything's a lot more expensive.<span id='postcolor'> why do you say that? Of course you hear all that consumer gossip of which only 10% might be true. Of course the media abuse this topic cause nothing is better than to create uncertainty about a currency. Fact is that the Euro is stabilising against the US$. More and more people start to store their savings in Euro, all this makes a strong currency. Maybe you dont see the advantages but companies do. Now many companies have much greater advantages to expand in Europe (less taxes, less currency fluctuation, better Cashflow forecasting). What did you expect, of course does such a new "thing" have disadvantages as well, but you have to pay the price for a good future of a healthy european economy. Ever thought about what would happen without the currency. I can assure you that globalisation would lead to point that most european companies would be owned by the US. This change was urgent, unfortunately (or maybe you are lucky) you will never see what would happen without it!<span id='postcolor'> Well, let me explain myself. I'm speaking from my own experience as a consumer. Almost everywhere, especially in bars and cafes prices have gone up. Now, a Euro is 2.20 old Dutch Guilders. But instead of making things 2.20 times as cheap, most shopkeepers and barowners have simply split the old price in half, thus makeing at least 10% profit from it. And the consumer pays 10% more than before. I have to correct my earlier statement, however. It's not the Euro itself that's bad, it's the people that abuse it to make profit.
