Top 10 most realistic FPS games

This thread is about the most realistic games out there. Here are what I think. 1 being the most, and 10 being the least. 1) SWAT3 - This game was/is the most realistic FPS there is. The weapon dynamics to the AI that was incredible. The damage was the most realistic aspect of the game. Most enemies died first shot to the center of mass depending on what weapon you used and what kinds of ammunition. This game goes beyond a "game" and should be called a SWAT sim. It was a true tactical shooter. 2) Operation Flashpoint - The movements are all perfect. It is not overly shiny and it is just plain realistic on most all fronts. It's only unrealistic quality is the damage system. I mean it takes 2-3 shots with to the center of mass with a sniper rifle to down an enemy? The damage system was way off base in this game. 3) Delta Force 2- This game is ultimately realtic on all fronts except for movement. You run at a constant steady pace the whole time, it is like you are gliding. You run like a robot or super soldier. 4) Delta Force Black Hawk Down- Ok, this is a long shot, but I can't think of any others at the time. Enemies dye when you shoot them as they should. But the movements suffer from the same problem as Delta Force 2. Too even and robotic feeling. That's all I can think of, howabout you?

    How about a forum night?

I have seen on other forums for games like Tribes2 that there are special nights in which all the members of a forum get together in a password locked server and play. So for example if this happened every Tuesday, every tuesday someone(the organiser) would post the password and time on these boards for the game that day. It would be a forum regular only game where everyone would be able to trust eachothers honesty and intelligence and friendliness and familiarity. It could be called something simple, like "OPF forum member night!". And it could be held on a certain day everyweek. Like Tuesday or Sunday. What do you think?
  3. I remember an old controversial debate regarding the release of the "Oxygen" tools which can be used to make OPF mods in the first place. Those of us who were opposed to it warned of every dick tom and harry making their own mods and therfore being a high number of low quality mods everywhere where everyone is doing their own thing. The supporters of Oxygen argued that it would be like Darwins theory of survival where all the bad mods would be swept away while the good ones will last. Well I think we have been proved right about the dangers of releasing modding tools to players. Now there are so many mods out there most of us cannot even keep track of it. It is so overwhelming for me that I have only yet downloaded the Operation Frenchpoint mod. I just don't know what else to try. There is TOO much out there and that is why we have this chaos. I think for OPF2 only the developers should be able to make additions to the game in the form of patches. All official, and all fully compatible.

    Cool AA Movie

You dont mean that serious do you? Have you SEEN the film?

    Cool AA Movie

In real life your sights don't move up and down so noticeably like that. It sort of wavers. And you hold your breath for a second or 2 just when you fire. I normally take a few quick in and out breaths just before firing, then hold it when I want to pull the trigger. In AA there is no way to hold your breath. I don't know about you guys, but I practiced to fire when you have total sight control. You should be still, not moving.

    Cool AA Movie

Not the way it does in AA. Mostly it will waver a little bit if you are not steady, but it does not go up and down, up and down like does in AA.

I will say this. The potential for excellent realistic teamplay and real life tactics IS there in the real game, just as how you saw it in the video. Unfortunately it is VERY difficult to find fellow players who play with real CQB tactics and teamwork(unless you have the time for a clan). I have found players who ARE interested in true teamwork and we really kick ass as a team. For a short time I had joined a great clan who used teamwork. We used TeamSpeak to communicate during games. It was aweseome. We moved in formation, covered eachother, we sliced the pie, had our own slices of pie, and used a variety of different unit tactics. We would properly utilise sniper support, etc. The only bad thing about AA is the aiming system. When you are aiming using the sights, the sights are constantly moving up and down when you breathe. It's really stupid.

I used to play all the time and always looked for coordinated teamwork centred gameplay. I went by SeatCushion. I no longer play video games so I don't play anymore.

That was incredible! Awesome movie! I wish OFP played that realistically.

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

Yes yes, a game is the same as actually running and moving? You know, getting outside and exercising a bit? Some people aren't brainwashed enough to put their lives on the line for morals and ideals which they think are theirs. Willingly die for a governement how...incredibly...not-sad. *cough* Why play sports for fun? Professional players would laugh in your face anyway, they're real sportsmen. Hunting? Not like we need to hunt to gather food, yet a lot of people seem to enjoy it as a hobby. And if you can honestly say you never played soldier and had at least some fun doing it... Really now, cut the bullshit already. See, airsoft may require physical activity, but it isn't a "sport" like baseball or football. It is an act of imitating professional soldiers. Playing pretend isn't a sport. Sure hunting is done, but hunting has nothing to do with pretending to be something that you are not.

This whole idea of "recreational soldiers" playing airsoft is incredibly sad. Why not just join the military instead of walking around pretending to be a Spec Ops soldier or commando? If people wan't to live out their spec ops fantasy, there are plenty of video games for that. I read that site up there about the Blackwater airsoft team. All I can say is I would hate to be one of those guys and brag about how great my "blackwater airsoft" team is in front of some REAL soldiers.

East VS West - Episode 01

Ok, so it doesn't have to make sense. No wonder I was confused especially when the American sounding russian soldiers started talking about defeating the "Americans". I was left wondering why "American" soldiers would want to defeat the "Americans". At first I thought that they were American soldiers. When they started talking to the Russian guy on the radio I thought that maybe they were allies or something. See, it needs to make sense or else you confuse people. Get your act together people.

Who did the voices for which characters? And why did some of the Russian soldiers have American voices?

    Interesting free "flight" simulator

That's great. I am pretty sure the AirForce has their own simulators for all their equipment. So why is there one for download for normal folks? I just think that unless you are a professional aviator, in the military, or in the aviation business it's completely useless. I just really want to know what a normal person would use it for.

Sounds like the most boring game in the world. What's so great about a game about ejection seats?

    Getting shot effect?

do you seriously think i have a problem i read almost everything if it get´s my attention.. other people read tons of magazines about hairstyles, they have the bigger problem imho (not to offend anyone ) What is this post supposed to mean? Can you please explain it because I don't get what you are trying to say. It makes no sense.
  19. IceFire

    Getting shot effect?

Yes but humans and animals are not physiologically the same. Plus I am making the distinction between his idea of shooting humans and the practice of studying game behavior for hunting. The way a wild boar reacts to a hunter is very different from a deer. Do you honestly think that deer, pig, humans, and bears all react the same way?

    Getting shot effect?

frrreeaaaak Actually this is not all that gratuitous or "loony". Most of that is actually useful information when it comes to hunting. You need to know what kind of ammunition to use, the vital organs, where to aim, how the animal will react. Etc. If you shoot an animal in a vital spot and it doesn't die immediately it might run off a bit and you will have to track it before it dies. All this knowledge comes in handy when hunting. Information like that comes in handy when we're talking about hunting - and hunting only! Killing a human being and an animal are completely different due to the neural system of animal are far more robust than human beings. The most noticable effect of this can be seen for example with a moose running a hundred meters at full speed after a direct hit to it's heart. You will definately not see that with a human being! Yes, and if you notice Mr.Burns was talking about a hunting website, about hunting ANIMALS. Reread the past few posts man, I think you are confused.

    Sorry for my absence

I think the answers as to why someone commits suicide never brings peace or closure, only more confusion and anger. The reasons for suicide are never comfortable ones.

    Dying For Your Country

So if a young man does the same you still think of him as moraly corrupted or worth less than the soldier? That depends on the young mans circumstances. Is he actively avoiding military service or are there other factors involved.

    Dying For Your Country

That's what I call populistic ignorant bullshit! Are you the moral judge and jury over other people who might choose other ways of resistance than dying for their country. Is the old man and woman who cannot enlist but still helping worth less? Do you look down on the young man or woman who's so afraid of dying that they chose to fight in other ways? An elderly couple who tries to contribute to the war are doing a respectable service to their country. The prostitute who services young soldiers and marines is also doing service for her country. A young man who is too afraid to die to join up has not met his obligation to his country in my opinion. A part of serving your country is the self sacrifice you make doing even if it means risking or losing your life.
