Well, maybe not from where you live Red Rogue. But I just got back from vacation last winter break. I was in Russia and Amsterdam. And during my tavels, I met alot of people from different places. And when talking to them, eventually the conversation would come to 9/11 and their personal views on the matter. I met a british girl, Australian boy, 2 New Zealand brothers, a Korean guy and his girl freind, several Russians in Russia. In Amsterdam, I spoke on the matter to an Irishman, Frenchman, some guy from Cameroon, and a Scottsman, and several Dutch. Every single one of them except for the African guy from Cameroon agreed that Bin Laden should be taken out, and they all said that they supported the war in Afghanastan. I don't know, but that's alot of people from around the world who seem to agree with us.

Did someone say that we killed more innocents in Afghanastan that we lost to Sept 11? I think I remember atleast several thousand, about 3 thousand being killed in 9/11. We only killed like a handful of innocents in Afghanastan. We sure as heck didn't come close to the number we lost in 9/11. We probably killed no more than about (what that other guy said) 100. Cmon people, AlQeuada knocked over our WTC's in NY, a heavily populated area. We are using smart missiles with pinpoint accuracy to hit enemy targets. The chances of killing up to about 3,000 is highly unlikely.

Are the speeds of the SABOT, HEAT, and hand held AT rockets different?? Or do they all move through the air at the same speed?
-
Are you sure?? Whenever I am prone and am aiming through the sights with an M60, I always fire in spurts and put the top line of my sights "ON" my target, not below. It works for me. Generally then I just spurt once or twice and the enemy is dead.
-
1.7 meters? Hmm, I guess this means that I cannot hit non human (things that are not 1.7 meters in height) with the dragonov? Or it will be difficult to get the range on something that is not 1.7 meters in height?

I would love for someone to make a mission where there is a huge battle. One where there are like a couple U.S. battalions fighting head on with a couple Soviet battalions. Like complete warfare. One where bullets are flying everywhere and explosions everywhere. No tanks, planes, choppers, or armor. Just infantry, jeeps and truck, and mounted machine guns. And you are just another infantry or are an M60 machine gunner unit in the mist of the main battle. I think a battle like that would be cool as hell. And I am not talking about the 2 sides far away from eachother. I am talking about the 2 sides all in eachother in a very small area! Like a couple thousand men on each side. Like there are people dropping dead all around you (both allies and enemies) and you are doing your best to survive. It should have that feeling of that first main battle in the move "saving private Ryan" only the enemy will be all around close by. Everyone will be shooting and yelling! Wow!
-
Ok, I checked, there was no battlefields. The last 3 missions I had were, the big assualt where you comman like alot of tanks. Revenge, you are a Russian in this one. And Vulcan, where you are on the beach relaxing.
-
Hmm, I'll check. Though I bought the box when it came out earlier, nothing fancy, and havn't dounloaded any patches or upgrades or anything since I bought it. And never play online. But I'll still check, maybe I just missed it.

I could never figure out how to use the Dragunov. How do you get the distance by lining the targets head with one of the numbers : 10,8,6,4, or 2? Let me get this straight, you line the enemies feet at the horizontal line, then you see where his head touches the curved line. Ok, suppose his head lines up under the number "4", what does that mean? And what does the number "1.7" mean at the horizontal line?

Are you sure?? I don't remember a "battlefields" in the single player selection menu.

What's the point to add wind to make your shots innacurate?? I mean it's not like real life where you can really "judge" by "feel" to determine how much to compensate for the wind. And having a chart or something to determine the windage would be ridiculous. Also if they added wind, the AI would either be severely disadvantaged or advantaged. They either would never be able to hit their targets or they would be programed to compensate for it and then would do so automatically while we are left trying to use our "judgement". It woulnt be even. And why would you even want to have to deal with the wind anyways? I certainly wouln't want wind blowing all my rounds places I don't want them to.

I TOTALLY agree with you UFO HK, I mean now peopl are SO realisitic driven they want everything perfect even if it's not a fun feature. I mean, jeez not allowing chopper pilots to pilot a tank because of training and specialties? Give me a break. You took the words right out of my mouth, UFO, I was gonna say the same sarcarstic thing about not needing to eat and use the bathroom. Infact I don't even want them to add wind to make gun shots innacurate. That would just make it to complicated and non-straight forward. The game is realistic the way it is. if you people want extreme realism, go and join the army. Then you can eat real army MRE's and use real army toilets and not fly choppers if you are not a trained pilot, and swat annoying flies with your hand, and blow your nose and all sorts of realistic stuff.

One basic rule of not being detected when in hostile territory, is to keep prone. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference. Heck, sometimes the enemy doesn't see you when you are only 2 feet away when you are prone! Second, stick to woody bushy areas. Your chances of being spotted while prone in bushy areas are MUCH lower than when in a clearing. When moving between bushes and other concealment, use your judgement, if there are alot of enemies around, you may want to crawl and keep VERY alert. If you see enemies when in the open, stay low, and try to keep out of sight. If they see you, immediately take them out and then either run (if noone else is around at the time) to your next concielment, or if there are others stay quiet movie to your next consealment hoping noone else will notice. If there are not that many others in a specific area, you can chance running between concielment, but be very careful! The less time you are between concielment, the better. Bushes are excellent for hiding. If the bush is moderately large enough, I can trust it to hide my whole prone body in it while enemies are standing as close as 3 feet away! Just make sure the bush is the right size and shape. But remember, ANY bush is better than NO bush. Even if it's a tiny patch the size of a large watermelon, it can do wonders. If you know how to use it properly.

Heal yourself? Hmm, I think only limitedly though. And as for making medical supplies limited like ammo? I don't think so. I have enough problems trying to keep my men healthy than having to worry about medical supplies. I like the game realistic, but not THAT realistic. It would be annoying.

But our weopons still are a bit better.

More famous?? I think an AK and an M16 are both relatively well known and widely used weapons. Well, at least the AK is. I don't think you can really go and say well, that person has better weapons. I mean it's usually the person behind the gun and the training that makes the difference. Not the gun. Now I don't exactly remember or know of any conflicts the Soviet Union has actually "fought" with the U.S. So there is little way to tell. They did have a decent army a while ago, and decent weapons.

Yeah, I think the M21 is just innacurate sometimes. But rememeber, al long distances, you will usually have to place the crosshairs just a bit below the point you want to hit. I think it has to do with not zooming in accurately or it is becuse the gun's "recoil" This only happens when I take "hasty" shots, and that is rare for me. Just learn how the gun works or "acts" first, then just practice practice practice. The best level I think to practice M21 sniping is the single player mission "bomber man". I have mastered that mission from top to bottom. I NEVER have to call radio in ANY reinforcements. I make EVERY kill in that mission with my rifle, 3 satchels, and if 1 AT rocket. Once you take out the convoy, and the following BMP and men in it. Go to the city, and kill every man you see. Hide in the trees. Not much more I can say about that level. It's the best level to learn to snipe with the M21. If you know where to place the satchels on the road you don't need to call in reinforcements to take out any tanks in the initial convoy. I can take out all of the vehicles in the initial convoy with just 2 satchels and my rifle. The convoy consists of (first to last) a BMP, a shilka, an ammo truck, and lastly a T-72. After they are all dead, I wait for the other BMP to arrive and drop of the other men down the road, I kill those men with my last satchel and then take an AT rocket to kill the BMP. Afterwards I head to the town to kill all the men there. Fun level for a sniper.

Ghetto?? I don't think I've ever heard of Russians as being ghetto before. I mean we are not talking about a bunch of ignorant crack heads in an alley of DC or New York here. And from what I thought, the Soviets had plenty of armor and weapons in real life. I mean I believe that was one of the reasons the Soviet Union had so many problems. They had too many weapons and not enough food and other essentials. Wasted too much of their money on weapons that they never winded up using. Also from what I know since the Soviet govt was so inept (excuse me) at running their own country, they had to use our CIA reports to determine how much they were spending on defense, due to the fact that noone kept track in the Soviet Union. The numbers we had in our CIA reports were an extremely innacurate and conservative one. And the Soviets decided that the numbers that they got from our reports were too low for their liking and decided to spend even MORE on defence, they had no idea how much they were really spending. Eventually they wasted too much money on weapons preparing for another world war that didn't come, and had little left over to spend on other things. Just one contributing factor to the demise of the Soviet Union. Please correct any innacuracies in the above if you notice any.

I am playing the campaign in OPF. I am in the level where James gandolfini or whatever his name is is out with his 2 other special forces buddies are out to destroy the 3 shilkas way down on the complete south, in Soviet territory at night. This is a little after the mission where you had to "locate" the 3 shilkas. I attack this mission like a complete nut. (I normally don't use this tactic) In this mission we kill everything we see. If we see a patrol of like a dozen men walking like a few hundred yards away, we all just go prone and killem all before they can even get off a shot. If I see a BMP, I pull out a rocket launcher (I usually pick this off a dead enemy) and blow it away. Me and my AI men are sure shots and usually if we attack a large group of enemies we find up killing them all before they even realize where we are. Anyways. We wind up storming one of the closest bases that has a shilka. First this I do is destroy the shilka and then we all go weapons free, most enemies are dead now and we storm the base and hop into one of the T-72's or something like that. There are 3 of us total, so it's a perfect fit. We ride around destroy the other empty or active enemy tanks and kill any remaining soldiers. The one thing I cannot do in this mission is take down the enemy hind flying about. I order my gunner to take it down with the machine gun, but it doesn't seem to do much good (Also the machine gun on the tank we were in didn't sound too powerful) and eventually the hind blew us away. Is there a way to take out the hind from the ground? Perhaps if I gunned? Or used a rocker launcher? Anyone have any tips or ideas? The only thing I can think of right now is if I were in another chopper.

####, I am annoyed! I just played for the last time this night. I got to the middle base (the one that is in the middle of the map) to jump into the shilka again. This time MUCH more organized. Had a much better idea as what I was going to do. We are on the east end of the base. Near in front of some trees laying prone and ready, watching the enemy. I am surprised the enemy hasn't seen us. Oh well. There are 3 shilka crew (All with AKs) members standing outside next to a fire just standing there, the were directly infront of us, west of us according to my compass. Maybe 50-100 yards in front of us. To the right of them, our north west was like this long garage tunnel where 2 soldiers were standing by (1 with an AK and the other was AT also. And to the right of that (more north), was a T-72, directly to the right of the "garage". In between the "garage" and the shilka crew was the shilka, our target, not far from us. To the left of the crew was a long road heading west to east. (we were facing west) And 2 soldiers (1 normal, 1 AT) walking back and forth on that road, (coming towards us and then away from us. My 2 men and I all had AKsu's. I also had an AT rocket launcher with 2 rockets. We waited and waited for like this whole other squad of like 10 men to leave the base and go somewhere else (they do that at like 4:20 am. ( you can tell I've attempted this mission alot which is why I am so annoyed at it.) I have supposedly already destroyed the other 2 shilkas and wrecked a whole other base earlier. There is still 1 hind flying around which is why I am trying to even get into the shilka in the 1st place. As soon as all the extra men leave. Just as I am about to attack, my mouse does that buggy thing. (where the mouse starts to move in one direction all on it's own for no reason) That happens right as I tell my men "open fire" . Fortunately they manage to kill most of the gaurds and I manage to kill the few remaining. We scramble into the shilka, and the hind is spotted. While in the tank as commander, I cannot control my mouse, it only get's controled when I am in weapon view, (which is how I managed to get any kills at all right before that) At that point I am trying desperately to make my men kill the T72 which now see's us and starts to shoot us. Either my mouse made it so that the T72 wasn't "designated" as a target properly, or shilkas cannot attack other tanks. I'm pretty sure I would have beat it if my mouse didn't start to fuck up. ####, I'm pissed. Anyone know? Sorry, had to get that off my chest. I think they should add another board here. Something like a "battle stories" section where we can discuss experiences.

Another specific reason why most of the time your teamates dye so quick when you are not in charge is because most of the time your leader will designate targets for you to hit. I know it makes sense if you are an AT soldier and he needs an enemy tank destroyed, but to choose targets for all his soldiers is a bad idea. For one it makes the soldier focus on a target that no longer may be threat or close by. And it makes them not notice other more dangerous threats around them. What I do is whenever I am in charge is to keep my men in strategic areas in the battlefield and let them either "open fire" or just "engage at will". It depends on the situation. And usually I will personally take out specific "dangerous" threats. This way they usually take out targets that are most accessible/ close by naturally by their own judgement, and therefore lets them kill the most dangerous/near by threats, and they continue to attack onward to the least dangerous enemies who are more in the peripherial. I feel that this is the most effective strategy basically. Of course there are always exceptions.

Can it target infantry and other tanks?
-
Yeah. I know what you mean. If you are not the unit leader. There is not too much you can do other than try to kill as many enemies as you can. It's up your commander to assure that you and your comrades successfully complete the mission and with few casualties. So just do as he says and hope that he makes the right decisions. Sometimes the guy who is in charge of your squad is just an idiot. I remember several instances where I could distinctively remember my leader making bad decisions and the result was some of my comrades died. In the campaign, as soon as I got to be incharge of my own men, my men rarely died. Usually in a mission, if I had 10 men, only about 1 or 2 would get killed. Sometimes none. And that's just pure dumb chance. Most of the time I am strategic enough to launch a good assault and win easily.
