The next episode would need something new. Like the ability to plan out missions. Like instead of getting your orders as what to do. You could keep an eye on the war and decide what action to take. Like whether to send in planes, or choppers, or tanks. Like you could be in the central command. Like the general.

Just grab a gun from a dead enemy?? That takes longer than reloading. I mean, suppose you are in a fire fight with your MP-5 against some enemies, while in the fight, your clip gets empty, there's an enemy running right at you and you don't have time to reload. Â Then you quickly whip out your pistol and put a few quick well placed shots into the enemy. Â There, no more immediate threat, now you can run to some cover and reload your MP-5 magazine. I've seen videos of military units practicing this maneuver. Â Since they have their rifle or MP-5 on a strap, they just drop their main arm (let it hang down) and quickly pull out their pistol to finish off an opponent. The whole maneuver takes less than a second. Generally they keep their pistol attached to a cord that attaches to their belt holster, so that they don't have to worry about dropping or losing it.
-
Useless?? I don't think so. Especially if you know how to use it. Alot of units switch to pistol when they go to clear small confined areas, like airplanes, or small rooms. I can think of loads of times when I was prone in some bushes, being really stealthy, when an enemy or two walk right past me. Well, I don't want to go and just blow them away with my big ol' M-16, I would rather have something small like a pistol that doesn't attract alot of attention.
-
Yeah, I noticed that. Alot of units are trained to immediately switch to pistol when they run out of rifle ammo. They can then use the pistol to finish off any enemy units currently being engaged, and help them get to cover to reload their rifle.

Also imagine this. Suppose you had the option to "magically" make some limited changes in our physical planet whatever they may be. Suppose this was a gift that was offered to you somehow. Like by a genie. Sounds useful enough, right? Now imagine that everyone could get this ability if they paid a modest price for it. Don't you think that eventually this would ruin the world? There are thousands who would use it for purely personal gain and what not. Everyone would make whatever changes they wanted as they saw fit. This is why I am against any type of tools that will allow us to alter the game. I know this is different, but I just don't like the principle. I mean I know alot of people could find it useful. But I just think we should allow the professionals to modify the game as they see fit.
-
No I would definitely not. I would not want to accidentially ruin the game or something, or pollute it. I would also be worried that others who would purchase this tool may do this too.
-
I think it's a GOOD decision they made, and I am Glad they made it. Why would you want these tools in ever Tom Dick and Harry's hands. They would spoil the game.
-
And honestly what I think they owed me when I payed for the box, is the game. That's it. I would be content with just the non-multiplayer aspect of the game, cause that's all I payed for. All the multiplayer stuff, that's just a big bonus.
-
Jeez, some people are real babies. Like so many other people in this thread has said. They don't owe us some mod tools. Plus, I would prefer that all future mods are dealt with by quality mod makers. Not in every Tom dick and harries hands. Keeps the quality up.

You know what would be a great idea?? If in maps you had a pencil, in addition to the radio, notebook, compas etc, to make marks or erase your marks on the map. Like you could make your own scribblings for personal notes. Then if you wanted to erase your marks you could just use the back side of the pencil and erase them. If any of you have ever used "paintbrush" in windows, it would kinda be like that only to resemble pencil graphite. This way you could make notes when you are doing recon with your binoculars. Like an X on where you placed the bomb, or remember how you where you want to set up your men. Or you just want to draw a route on your map that you want to take, or a path that enemy patrols seem to be taking back and forth. I think being able to write on your map could be incredibly useful as well as being very realistic. Cmon people, what do you folks think? Maybe someone should make a patch or something that has this feature? I would love it.
-
Glad there are some agreements. Maybe some good modmaker will see this and do his magic. Hehe.

A motorcycle is fairly easy to balance, actually it's not difficult to prevent falling of one provided you are not doing something dumb, or lean improperly. If you can ride a bike, you can balance a motorcycle. If any of you have played tribes 2 and played with the hoverbike, I think it would be like that only harder to swerve.
-
I don't know, Jeez I just thought having some type of sketching feature would be alot easier. You would have the ability to make these things more accurate or to even shape them. I tried that double click thing and it kinda just made this circle appear there. I think I'm gonna hit the sack now.

What do you mean by "place an ammo crate" most of the mission I've been on, their ammo crates don't really have any satchels in them.
-
How in the world can you get so many mines or satchels?? I can only carry 3. I guess the next time I play, I'll select 3, and have as many men as I can carry as much as they can. I want to try this, how many satchels or mines do you reccomend I use under a tank? I could probably get 9 in some spec op missions where I command a team. Interesting.
-
Arjen, maybe it's because I'm sleepy, but I really didn't get all that.  But from what  I did get, I think you misenterpreted me. I am not talking about orders, I am talking about pencils on maps. And Aldega, I am not going to be making notes while in combat.  I will be making notes while in preparation for the mission or combat. That means either in the before the mission starts, and then even while I am in the mission.  Like I am doing reconnaissance on enemy movement by stealth, say I am on top of a hill using my binoculars.  I can see everything.  Then I can mark all hostile locations on my map, the directions they are facing, draw up estimated boundaries for all their fields of vision, and have my men move to proper locations using my map sketches to prepare for the attack. I can clearly draw points to move in case of retreat so that I can locate it easier on the map. All this while seeming like a very simple idea could do wonders. Even if it's just to help me "visualize" my plan of attack. I could use it to help plan my strategies, especially in large scale combat. And it would basically work like a pencil on paper, or like that "paintbrush" program. I think someone should make a "mod" to include this feature.

Can anyone complete single player mission ambush
IceFire replied to MarcusJClifford's topic in OPF MISSIONS
I always follow the orders when issued to me unless I physically cannot. Remember, when you are the grunt, you arn't the one making the decisions, it's not your place to make any. So if you follow orders, it really isn't your fault the mission failed. Just hope that your AI leader makes the right choices. -

Ok, I tried it. But what I meant was basically "pencil scribbling" I mean with the way they make new mod guns and stuff, I would think this would be a peice of cake. Kindof like the way "paintbrush" works. Basically you would zoom in all the way on your map, and then use your "pencil" to scribble whatever you want. And when you zoom out, your scribblings would lose detail too. Very simple concept. Think about it, it would be sooo useful. I'm not saying the current map markings arn't useful. Now that I know about them I will be sure to use them to my advantage. But I think real pencil markings would be VERY handy when you wanted to for example "you want to mark a specific route that you want to take. Or even add sketches for a plan.
-
What is tmarking? All you have to do is double click? I had no idea. Brb. I'm gonna check this out.

After Montignac is easy. I really didn't have too much trouble with it, but I was glad it was over once it was. There are numerous ways to do it. The way I found best is the most straight forward way. 1st off, it isn't a good idea to pop off alot of enemy soldiers in this one. Only the few who may see you. The way that I find best when you start out in that mission you will be in a large patch of woods. There may be a few partols of soldiers combing the woods searching for anyone left. Stay prone and kill those around you unless they move on and are not a risk to you. After that look directly south, you will see a hill and a bunch of soldiers crossing that hill. Wait for them to leave and wait just a bit longer to make sure noone else comes along. Wait for the chopper to go somewhere elsewhere, then time to move. If there are any bushes close to you to your south that are before the hill (which is you next destination) use them. They are you best friend in this level as complete stealth will keep you alive in this one, not your gun. Try to make your way to kinda the east part of the hill where you will see a trail of bushes kinda in a small valley leading around the hill going south to the next main woodland area. Crawl through the center of that trail of bushes and make sure noone see's you. If anyone does, kill them quickly and stay low. Once you get to the end of the bush trail you will have no choice to move out of cover to get to the woods, stay low and be careful. Once you are in those woodland you are pretty much in the clear. As you are about to leave that woodland be careful, there are a whole lot of enemy movement at the exit of those woods. Just try to find an area where they will not see you and keep crawling to bushes, once you think that you are not really in that much risk of being seen or are close to the evac point, you can chance standing up and running. It took a few different tries before I found that path. It's a bit tough especially when you are nearing that first hill. There are other, longer routes that are more time consuming but less risky, but then if you die in those, it's annoying to do the same thing all over.

Ope, forgot to mention the Estonian kid I met in the hostel in Amsterdam who ALSO agreed with us.

Well, maybe not from where you live Red Rogue. But I just got back from vacation last winter break. I was in Russia and Amsterdam. And during my tavels, I met alot of people from different places. And when talking to them, eventually the conversation would come to 9/11 and their personal views on the matter. I met a british girl, Australian boy, 2 New Zealand brothers, a Korean guy and his girl freind, several Russians in Russia. In Amsterdam, I spoke on the matter to an Irishman, Frenchman, some guy from Cameroon, and a Scottsman, and several Dutch. Every single one of them except for the African guy from Cameroon agreed that Bin Laden should be taken out, and they all said that they supported the war in Afghanastan. I don't know, but that's alot of people from around the world who seem to agree with us.
