I have to agree with everyone that I cannot vote because all the choices above is what makes OPF great. I do have a problem with one of the choices that I feel is innacurate. The one about the freedom to allow players to use any weapon or vehicle. This is very untrue. Generally if there is a weapon or vehicle that the game does not want you to use, for whatever reasons, it will not let you use it. Like certain mounted machine guns, certain vehicles. Sometimes, you travel far across a map in a certain mission, and you will automatically die. To me, that is the same thing as a boundary or wall. In the mission, "Hold Malden" your CO tells you to "get into that machine gun on the left". I noticed a better positioned mounted M2 machine gun much closer and it would give me a greater area to shoot at. Well, I could not get into that one. The game probably did not want to use it because then I would kill too many Russians creating the possibility that we may actually hold the port. The game was trying to make it so that we HAD TO retreat. So it did not let me use that machine gun, but I had to use the one that I was ordered to. Also, I remember certain missions where I wanted to get into an M1A1 tank instead of the chopper that was in the mission objectives, and it would not let me get into the tank. Obviously this is an aspect of the game that they boast that is very flexible and immersive, but in fact, this is very untrue. The game only allows you to use whatever weapon and vehicle you want as long as it will not give you too much flexibility in what your options are.

Yeah, it would be a disgrace. Just because of the fact that we even want to experience what they did without actually going to war. How convenient it would be get the whole war experience from the comfort of our own homes. I think there are some things that only the soldiers who experienced them should know of. They fought so hard so that we may never expereince those things. And here we are discussing why ought to see it in a silly game. That is why I think it is such a dishonorable thing. Also, I noticed on the poll that there are those who want to see "EVERYTHING", all the horrors of war. My question is why? So you want to see babies being thrown onto bayonets, you want to see little boys being forced to have sex with their mothers? Don't ask me when it happened, I don't remember which war, but it was in a war in one of the far eastern asian countries. Don't remember when. I will try to get the info. I think it was between China and one of it's neighbors. Anyways, as for implementation of the actual "horrors of war". I think that OPF has enough of it as it is. No more for me unless I ever happen to fight in one.

And lastly, I think that it is aggorant of us to even want to try to (or think that we can) experience what out soldiers who died in wars experienced by playing some dumb ol' game. And I also think that it is morally wrong to do so. We should always remember what they died for, that they died an honorable death for their country. But we should not go and disgrace that by attempting to reproduce thier experiences in a game.

Yeah, let's end this discussion. I don't think we should be talking about this here.

Honestly, outside of the ethics involved in making the game show the "horrors of war". If the game actually did have enemies screaming and showing really horrific stuff, I don't think I would want to play it. Not to mention how it would affect all the 10 year olds who play this game, I'm sure. I wouln't not mind enemies falling down when they get hit, and being able to use bullets to stun enemies atleast when they get hit. but to show the real emotional "horrors of war" and to have the bots screaming in agony for a while and having them all being glum. That kind of stuff affects people. I do not think that people should become desentised to war and stuff by playing a game. Honestly, I think that would be a very sick idea.

I don't think that the Palestinians are just defending their land. I mean they go around killing innocent Jewish civilians everyday in clubs, bars and other neat places. How are they defending themselves by killing innocent civilians. I don't think it's defense when someone goes into a night club with a bomb strapped to their chest and blow up a bunch of people having a nice relaxing time. Isreal atleast has tried to show some restraint, but I don't see how they can when the Palestinians constantly try to kill them. Even a week ago when there was hopeful talks about a cease fire and Isreal said it won't attack, and Arafat said so too, guess what?? More Palestinian suicide bombers?? What does that mean even though at the time Isreal said they were willing to try peace? I don't think the Palestinians want peace. Simple as that, I think that they just want to drive Isreal into the sea. At least the Isrealis don't go intentionally killing civvies. They mainly try to attack the terrorists, but if Palestinian civvies go throuwing rocks or start attacking the soldiers with guns, what do you expect the Isrealis to do? Just my opinion though. I'm sure there are many others here who know alot more about this than I.

Ok, I was playing the interdiction mission, I must have accidentially hit some key, and everything started going in fast forward. Like I started running real fast, tanks started going fast, enemies started running fast. What is this thing? A bug? How do I get rid of it? It screwed up my game? I ended the game and got out of flashpoint. If I go back in, will it still be there? Is it a cheat? If it comes up, will it count as a cheat and I won't get any legitimate credit for the mission?
-
Not to worry people, I just went into control options and erased whatever was in the faster, slower spaces. Now the spaces are clean with nothing in them and I am now safe.

Ok, I have been thinking about this and it has been getting to me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to COMPLETELY KILL this feature in my OPF?? I mean to totally lose it. I can see it now. This feature will TOTALLY KILL the gameplay for me. Everytime I will go prone and crawl, I will be tempted to use this feature. I wish I never discovered it. Can anyone here help me on this?
-
Ack, these fastforward buttons will ruin the game for me. Half the fun is sneaking around prone for long periods of time. Now I won't be able to resist the urge of the fast forward buttons right there on my keyboard when I am crawling a long way.

Hey day glow, where can I get a demo version of this "Aliens versus predator 2"?
-
Hmm, will I get full credit for a mission if I do this? Or is it that they won't count my score if I do that because it is cheating?
-
Systema, isn't that the form of martial arts that teaches you how to stab and maim your enemies?

This is what I do with the law. I aim at my target with the law, not through the sights though. The normal way, with the dot, I see where the dot is, and then look through the sights. I see which line matches up with where the dot was on my target. That gives you a much better estimate. If the target is moving, than I just do the same thing, only this time I match up the dot/horizontal line on a spot that I expect the target to pass. And just to be safe, always aim a little high, as the rocket generally drops a little bit.

TopGun, I tried to download the ICQ thing tonight, but my computer is acting crazy so I will try again tomorrow. Looking forward to playing with you. I just played a mission on Multiplayer last night that I was actually very pleased with. it was called "saving private ryan". There was a strong chain of command and there were like 5 players under a leaders command. We were in boats, and when we beached we had to raid the beach and take an objective. When I joined, I didn't know what was going on because it didn't give me chanceto pick a position or even review the breifing. So as soon as I got into the game, I was confused. To make things worse, I was #1. The lead, and they were all asking me for orders. So after a little bit of confusion, I managed to explain that I didn't know what was going on and they explained it to me hastely before the boat got to the beach. There were hundreds of other AI good guys beaching too and it was like all hell broke loose. But it was a good mission because most of my men followed orders. 1 or 2 went astray and got killled, but the ones who stayed with me, we got a little far. After we all dies, due mainly to the fact that I was not properly prepared and the whole thing went so fast. We did it again and we got farther. We stayed prone and crawled and constantly checked our horizon killing anyone that we could see. And kept on moving that way. I was emphasizing that we maintain formation and not get split up because there were so many enmies in that mission. If everyone always followed orders, we would have gotten real far. Anyways, I prefer to be a soldier. But I think I am pretty good at leading. Anyways that was good.

I finished "Status Quo". Although I was disappointed with the end. I want to start playing multiplayer. Can anyone clearly tell me how to do this? Know this: I am playing the coldwar crisis out of the box, I bought it sometime like 4 months ago. I have not upgraded ANYTHING or registered online or ANYTHING. I am computer illetarate. I don't know crap about bytes and bits and zip codes or anything. Can someone explain how to start playing online? Clearly, like what buttons to push and what not.

What exactly is wrong with thinking "Whoa, look at all these frags" as opposed to, "this war sucks"? The point of the game is to be entertaining. Wouln't that defeat the purpose? There are many books written by veterans that have detailed accounts of their experiences. And the imagination is better than a computer monitor.

Nordin, what are you talking about? What is so funny here? Not some joke. I don't see a connection. That was a completely random comment Nordik.

Ok, I figured out how to change my name. Now, I was playing for a while. Capture the flag I think it was called. And it was complete meyhem. No organization what so ever. I expected human players to be more organized than the AI in campaigns! All I heard was explosions and saw people running around all over. I expected to be under the command of a leader who would organize our attacks or defence. Everyone was doing their own thing. Very disapointing. I guess Capture the flag is like that. Any suggestions? Maybe there are other styles of online play that are not like Capture the flag? Like one where you have a specific goal? Are there any like that? Because if there is, I would love to play it online with someone.

Ok, I got into a multuplayer game. But I don't understand some things. How do I change my name? I don't like being "Default". What do those first pages mean? I don't know about them. Before the game starts. When I actually did play, that was strange. The leader didn't give me any orders. But everyone was a chopper pilot. We all had XM's. Everyone was boarding a plane. Not big ones. But those civilian ones. So I did too. And I followed everyone in the air. Eventually we got to some place. And I didn't know what I was supposed to do. And I lost sight of all my freindly planes. I saw some red dots on the ground and started shooting at them. Soon, I sustained heavy damage and I ejected. When I hit the ground, I was injured and could not walk. I was also confused because I didn't know where I was. As I tried to crawl somewhere, someone came up behind me and shot me. I breifly saw him and he was a pilot too. Then I got disconnected. Is that what is supposed to happen when you die?
-
Cool. So now I am fully upgraded and have the all seeing eye. Now how do I play multiplayer? And what do I need to know to play?
-
Tracers? Hmm. What are tracers? And yeah, I downloaded The all seeing eye. How do you start up games?
-
Ok, I am updated to 1.46. Where are my new weapons though? I went back into the campaign but couln't see the streyer or what not. And I played battlefields. In it I used the M-16. I went into weapon mode. Where are the optical sights? Another thing that is weird. I played battlefields and I saw all these green lazerss being shot around. What the heck are these? This game is supposed to be realistic? Are one of the new guns some futuristic sort of lazer rifle?
