    So you have Harvest Red where your team mates die and you fail the mission, you have Black Gauntlet where your team mates are made invincible when appropriate but can be noticeable, or you have OFP where your team mate might die in the mission but magically appear alive and well the next.

    If you have characters important to the storyline, who are going to fight along-side you, and are necessary to survive for the next mission, which method do you want? My personal favorite is allowDamage false. ;)

    I would probably prefer them to be able to take a couple of shots in the chest since they have armoured vests and include the medical system. If they get hit too much they should die and you have to restart from last save. A combination of withstanding damage, superiour skills, savepoints and a reasonable amount of opposition. Trying to balance this would probably provide the best experience IMO. Put too much on one point and you may ruin it.

    Btw, I think my SUV was actually hammered by a ZU-23 on the back of a truck in that mission and lived. Cant say for sure since the model changes when the truck catches fire.

    Martial arts are a waste of time and money for defence purposes. You got two legs and a mouth to get you out of dangerous situations.

    And if you need to stand your ground and kill the attacker, you might as well buy a gun. Much, much cheaper and your prison sentence will roughly be the same.

    Boosting your self confidence is not the same thing as learning how to manage dangerous situations.

    Why run if you dont have to? And why the hell would you need to kill him? The gun idea is just idiotic, especially if you live in a less crazy country where 90% of the population has never even held a gun.

    It may also not only be yourself you are interrested in defending.

    Martial arts is also good for your physique and your mind usually.

    You do handle dangerous situations better with more self confidence, aslong as you are not an idiot and overly confident. How will you get out of a dangerous situation using your mouth without self confidence? Saying "please dont hit" me is more likely to provoke.

    If you need to queue more than 5 units in a building you really suck.

    You can actually place buildings in control groups now. You can for example select 4 factories and bind them all to group 8. Then to start spamming vehicles you just press 8 and the shortkey for the vehicle in the factory. The game will then automatically spread the production wisely over all factories so that if you start producing 5 units from 4 factories it will first start one unit in each factory and then the 5th unit will start in the factory which has the least remaining buildtime. You can also set waypoints for the buildings to units so that new units that are built will go and join that unit. The hatchery even has a seperate waypoint for workers and combat units so you dont have to change waypoint when you produce drones/other units.

    Such a whine thread this is. The graphics are good IMO, the gameplay is balanced, ladder is working very well. Havent played the campaign yet. The editor seems amazing from what Ive seen in videos. If you want to know what the game is like go check out videos on youtube and dont listen to people who dont even know how to play the game whine away.

    Some of the complaints here are valid but not the ones concerning gameplay or game engine.

    There are more videos on youtube made by the community if you are interrested. This is what convinced me to preorder the game. Like OFP, because of the editor there will probably be no end of this game except when a sequel is released.

    For your body type I would recommend getting in close and making it a wrestling match if you get into a fight. You most likely have weight on your side and perhaps strenght aswell. Turn the fight in your favour and dont try to do some kung fu stuff with the body type you have at the moment. If a skinny guy with a kickboxing style was to fight you I think you would have serious problems if you kept the fight standing. If you rush him and take him to the gound you will most likely be able to control him and from there its all your fight. Dont underestimate the usefulness of putting your whole weight on the guy. Not being able to breathe properly has a serious effect on stamina and may cause panic (and no, Im not taking a piss, this is a good thing to keep in mind even if you are the same weight).

    If you do this for fun just keep it up and dont get into fights. If someone wants to fight you for fun or for whatever reason try to keep it on grass or something so noone cracks a skull.

    It means that you can without fear of prosecution say or publish anything that doesn't violate the rights of other people. It also means (especially concerning freedom of press) that your publications do not have to go through an official censor, and it's your job to make sure there's nothing unlawful in it. To my knowledge people don't have the right not to get offended because that would mean we'd have to ban everything.

    Going back to your original question: no, I wouldn't demand the abolition of freedom of speech like vilas does. In fact I wouldn't make a thread in here at all because it has no purpose.

    I dont think we should ban everything that offends people but a line has to be drawn somewhere about what is acceptable and what is not. The line is drawn differently in different places and obviously we disagree about where it should be drawn. I think freedom of speech and freedom of press is more about your right to express your opinion and not about your right to disrespect others in any way you want. I think newspapers should be held to a higher standard than a normal person. If someone says all black people are rapists then they are an idiot, but if a newspaper says it they should get some serious heat.

    The question was which was more dangerous, not which should be more illegal.

    Riding a bike down a steep slope may be more dangerous than telling a man in a wheelchair to orally polish your trophy but that should not make it more illegal :p

    It's just dark humor. Deal with it, for crying out loud. It has been part of human culture for ages and it can help us to deal with taboo like death (in this case). The only threat to existence of our culture and civilization are people wishing death to those who just have different taste in humor.

    Perhaps people can find a way to deal with it without making it alot worse for others? Respect and compassion?

    I make some really stupid jokes together with friends that I would not make with people I dont know. I know my friends will not be offended and that they understand that I am not serious. I respect the fact that other people may not share my sense of humor and may not understand that its a joke. I think its more important to respect other peoples feelings than holding on so strongly to your right to say stupid things. Rights that are abused tend to be removed.

    Maybe you should think about that for a while. One made someone furious enough to wish death and the other did not.

    The point is still that W0lle is trying to defend freedom of speech by silencing people. Much like defending democracy by banning undemocratic parties.

    I do think it was a silly thing for Vilas to say especially because he said the family of the idiot should suffer and not just the idiot. Im sure he can see that it was a bit off and Im sure everyone else can too.

    And Im not sure the "idiot" is actually an idiot because I dont know in what fashion the image was published. If it was the way Vilas interpreted it I think it was very idiotic and I am not sure if I think it should be legal or not. There are laws against inciting riots and some forms of racist bullshit.

    I think it should be illegal for newspapers to publish for example a picture of muhammed as a dog with the text "haha look muhammed is a dog, thats some funny shit". But if the image comes with another text like "this picture has angered muslims across the world and forced the creator to go underground after numerous death threats" then I think its ok.

    I dont think lies or intentional aggrovation should be allowed. Obviously I dont think anyone should be killed for it but I think the newspapers should get different fines depending on how extreme the case is.

    There is a difference between free speech in a public venue and free speech in a private forum. We don't have 'free speech' here. They have the right to ban you for whatever. They own this place. It is their 'property'. They can force rowdies to leave and prevent them from coming in whenever.

    Sure they can, and Im not arguing with that, but you must see the irony in someone telling another person that he is not allowed to tell others what they cant say because of "free speech".

    That newspaper article is anything than nice but yes that's called freedom of speech which will not be restricted just because 96 (important) polish people died. No matter if you (and me) like it or not. You should learn to live with this and not taking everything so seriously.

    Its funny to hear people talk about fanaticism in places like the middle east when we have "freedom of speech" fanaticism right here. Anyone who thinks they are allowed to, or should be allowed to, say anything they want is a fool. There are limits to freedom of speech. There is no absolute freedom to say anything you like. Its just a bit more generous in the western world than in other parts of the world (for good and for bad). Try walking down the street chanting "sieg heil" and see how that goes for you. It doesnt even mean anything bad really, its just what people associate it with. People who say you should be allowed to say anything you like think very much in black and white and need to open theire eyes. You dont even allow people to criticise freedom of speech. Its a bit like people who are so pro democracy that they think undemocratic parties should be banned, very ironic.

    This thread has schizophrenia. It is surreal. On the one hand, we have Vilas saying terrible things about killing people because he feels they don't have any right to say terrible things. On the other, we have people saying that he should stop saying terrible things because the others had a right to say terrible things because they have freedom of speech.

    A problem with using units init field for this sort of thing other than reasons posted is that you probably dont know in what order the init fields will be executed. For example I tried adding several vehicles to an array by using first xT = [this] for one unit and then xT = xT + [this] for all other units and to my surprise there were only 2 units out of bout 7 in the array after missions start. The reason for this is that the unit with the init field creating the array was initialized second last so other units were trying to add to a non existing array.

    The way I solve a problem like yours is for example the following:

    Create a game logic and put this in the unitfield: xRnd = round(random 1)

    create a trigger with size 50 or whatever covers the whole group you want deleted/not deleted and set activation to anybody present.

    Condition: this and (xRnd == 0)

    Activation: {deleteVehicle _X} forEach thisList

    Then make a similar trigger for the second group but change condition of xRnd to 1 instead of 0.

    It did not have all the ammo types but I compared 5.56x45, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51.

    Distance travelled: 498.799m

    -Distance travelled: 500m

    Velocity maintained: 48.7617%

    -Velocity maintained: 56%

    AKM shot at 500 meters (7.62x39):

    Initial velocity: 709.963m/s

    -Initial velocity: 716m/s

    Final velocity: 268.571m/s

    -Final velocity: 386m/s

    Distance travelled: 498.939m

    -Distance travelled: 500m

    Velocity maintained: 37.8433%

    -Velocity maintained: 54%

    DMR shot at 500 meters (7.62x51):

    Initial velocity: 899.975m/s

    -Initial velocity: 860m/s

    Final velocity: 568.629m/s

    -Final velocity: 558m/s

    Distance travelled: 499.447m

    -Distance travelled: 500m

    Velocity maintained: 63.1828%

    -Velocity maintained: 65%

    As you can see 7.62x51 was a good match, 5.56x45 was an ok match and 7.62x39 was a bad match.

    Pretty much the exact same results I got at 500 meters which shows the accuracy of the results in both tests IMO.

    Okay, I think I understand what you're doing. You were seeing what it should be and messing around with bullet weight. I thought you were trying to say something about how the game handles stuff.

    Those mods make it so the ballistic arcs and muzzle velocity match their real world counterparts. Unless there is something weird going on with gravity, the ballistic arc should be wrong if the drag model is wrong, no?

    Some of those tests are really out of whack. I don't know if you could automate a larger sample of tests to make sure none of these are anomalies caused by some computer related hoju?

    When doing the testing I fired the weapons several times until I reached pretty much the same value several times in a row. The differences between 2 shots were never really big though, it was like 0.05 seconds flux max in bullet travel time.
