  1. Hey up. UK player and long time fan of Opflash, Armed Assault, OpFlash Dragon Rising and Armed Assault 2. I don't get much time to play, but when I *do* get time then I like to play co-op and with a tactical leaning. I'm ex-military myself and a mature gamer. I can play seriously, semi-seriously or for fun and frolicks (god this sounds like a dating site!). I can use TS and Vent, my games aren't on Steam if that makes any odds, and I try to keep as up to date as possible with regard patches and the like. I don't generally have any mods installed but will do so if it really is required. So that's it, basically. I quite like the tactical and serious(ish) elements, and am looking to play when I can. I don't want to be penalised for not playing once a week or whatever. I'll play when I can and expect to enjoy myself when I do. Hope to hear from someone some time, if my style suits. Cheers! -h-

    Comments about a map

Yeah, if I knew what I was doing, I would do it and tell you guys what was wrong. Alas I can barely dress myself, let alone analyse code
  3. Chaps, where's the best place to post comments about a map we've found? Long story short, one of the guys in our ArmA group found a map online and added it to the list on our private server. The map is called Deep Strike. None of us can recall where it came from. Basically if you play on this map it screws up your mouse look - the only way to remove it seemingly is to go back into the map solo. And even then it's not guaranteed - you basically keep going in and out of the map until it gets fixed. No key presses will fix it. Just thought others might need/want a heads up. Cheers!

    What after patch 1.08?

Before we see another patch I think it would be great to have the Linux dedicated server. I've lost interest in multiplayer ArmA and don't think I'll go back to it until we get that; then I can play co-op with all my pals on our own server, just we still do with OpFlash.

    "Motion" Makes Some People Sick?

I have heard one way of curing the problem is to have a small desk lamp beside you projecting light either up or down (I forget which); the point being it takes something away from the screen so you aren't completely focused on it. That sounds rubbish now I type it, but I heard that somewhere.

    "Motion" Makes Some People Sick?

I get motion sickness from FPS games quite a bit, the newest such is Stalker. I find head-bob does it quite a bit, and hate that it's not a customisable option. I know ArmA is a realistic warsim, but you know, it's still a game at the end of the day. In OpFlash and ArmA I find the easiest thing to do to cure it is switch to 3rd person when running, but of course some people think it's cheating, which is a bit daft to be honest. So until everyone is affected by it, I wouldn't expect to see a solution any time soon. Those of us who get it will just have to live with it, unfortunately.

    "Commander" mission buggy?

I also just saw this: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=59336 which I'll have to give a go tonight.

    "Commander" mission buggy?

I get the same problem as you, an error message when I believe the end-mission should be triggered, but I'm never quick enough to screen-capture it. Most annoying.

    Counter Attack

I had to use it in the end to get past that blasted mission but it worked a treat, thank god.

    Counter Attack

Fan-bloody-tastic, thanks for that, I felt sure there was an end-mission cheat. Now I can finally progress past this damn mission. Cheers!

    Counter Attack

Mission's doing my head in now. I've spent over five hours just trawling the streets. I've even sent off my squad to all areas individually to look for soldiers. I've searched every (open) building and ruin, I've even re-destroyed all tank carcasses. I'm literally at wit's end, now. Gutted. Anyone else got any suggestions, please?

    Counter Attack

Ah. Oh well. Thanks for the advice. As you say, not very cool. In fact, really quite sucky

    Counter Attack

Have to say, if that's a cryptic clue, you got me, sorry. Any chance of some help, please? I really could use a hand.

    Counter Attack

Having major problems with the mission Counter Attack. I get right up to the end, where you have to secure the DMZ, but it just won't end. I've killed everyone in the town I can find. I've sent my squad over the entire town step by step. I've spent two hours wandering around. I'm happy there's no-one left alive. Even friendly tanks and choppers are just hanging around not doing anything. What now? There's just nothing more I can do, that I can see. Any suggestions???
  15. Something else just occurred to me... There's a mission type I have been trying to implement for ages, literally months, and never really managed it. To explain it properly, you need to have read the book Bravo Two Zero or, preferably, seen the TV movie/adaptation. Essentially you have a squad (the PCs) fleeing from the enemy. What makes it a good mission is that it takes a long time, with the enemy always chasing. It's not enough to simply have a chase, either, it has to be for the most part on foot (if not all), and there has to be real tension. Basically the squad start at a location and have to get to somewhere a long way off by whatever means possible. They are behind enemy lines so there are tons of enemy troops around. Stealth could be involved, but the strong point is just to get the hell out. It could be that sacrifices have to be made, several members of the squad having to give their lives in holding actions. The scene I am thinking of from Bravo Two Zero is where the squad are compromised and are fleeing across the desert for many hours, the enemy always in pursuit. The squad have to stop and fight every now and again, just to keep them off their backs. If you could do this reliably, that would be a great mission.
