hopefully the crash was not caused by the pack

the difference is, that it is of course not that eye-candy-custom-scripted pack like ffur actually is. its just a packed conversion of mostly all available standard 1985 units, which were brought to winter by modders from this very effective and professional community. because of the fact, that the most (and definitely best) addons are camping on our harddrives, awaiting some serious singleplayer action, this pack was formed. the last poll about addons on ofp.info surprised me in a bad way. ofp still lives and is still driven by "lots" of multiplayers (around 500 per evening) fighting each day on the virtual battlefields with mates from around the world. modders throw their superb works to the boards, but noone seems to be intrested to see his addon(s) in multiplayeractions - i fear that's what the poll offered, too. fact is one thing, fighting with standard units since 2001 ain't that fun anymore, that's why someone should focus on bundles like this, just making addons accessible to multiplayeractions, what of course means, to provide missions as well as the plain addons, to sync the ppl! i believe that lots of mods passed by, because they were only played in singleplayer and not that lot ppl sampled the pleasures from them during multiplayeractions. for example: our clan is gaming BAS like it was just released. beautiful models, great atmosphere, and yes i love the deltas most, of course we have converted missions to carry basaddons, our mapping crew designed new ones, but we are just playing bascoops, or some neat ctfs due to the lack of players, equipped with basstuff. same with the fabulous bwmod. and that is truly sad! those intensions were our motivation(s) to bundle these addons, and to provide "some" missions secondary... would be nice if some of the last standing modders would think a bit more of making the whole thingy more multiplayerfriendly. eye-candy for the singleplayers, compatibility and the abdication of shiny scripts for making it effective to be played in multiplayer! nothing ticks more off than desyncs and laggy sessions --told from the view of a multiplayer fanatic

Thanx a lot dude! We'll link to the base as well, to give something back

the question is, how to clip into that building to enjoy the detailed gfx ... k a bit sarcastic sry! but hey, that shadow casting looks great! no more "shadow_wallhacks"
-
...but nice anyway

sounds real strange! i have just forwarded the 2 needed ofp ports (so not the gamespyports) and i don't report my ip to gamespy. however, the server at home is working fine and is listed on the ingamebrowser and the allseeingeye... which network protoc. did you have forwarded? udp and/or tcp?
-
hopefully no password was set in the config file ?! it sounds a bit strange, never heard about something like that do you get any message if you try to connect?
-
any firewall running, or another tool which denies access to the server?!
-
well...thats just great...
-
...so the competition starts up again and hopefully our new surprise for them will be just more harder to get btw: they don't avoid to mention how old ofp is, and in their eyes ofp is dead *lolË›* nice to see how a dead game still forces them to develop cheats...its just neat...really...must be love to ofp, the love we all feel

i don't want to be nit-pick, but i don't understand the plural you've just used...

maybe this -> ?!

however, this is just one way to setup the win32 server and to control it from a remote machine. if you are able to set it up by using tty then you may do so, we didn't have test it that way, yet. the paper was meant to be a handy package for average linux'ers with dedicated servers, not for the real nerds gaming q3 with tty output anyhow, test it with tty *pls* and post you suggestions here... we are running lots of services and are fighting with a least 28 players every evening on the battlefields...there is no lag present with the current config...it's just linux edit: the average setup it this: ofpserver on a linux dedicated/root server and a windoze client at home...
-
lol it should mean: You are welcome! :P
-
to depbo their cheataddons breaks not one law, believe me. just their own ridiculous ones! and btw, they can try to bring us to law...i'm on the rack. they say they code cheats for educational purposes (lol), so we do the same by depbo'ing their addons...

why not?! nat is your friend. just forward the ofpserver port you have set in the ofpserver configfile to you machine. step one: --------- setup your ofpserver and edit its configurationfile to edit the port you want the ofpserver is listen to. step two: --------- get the machines ip. step three: ----------- access to your router (in most cases its a webinterface nowdays) and forward the port (set in the configurationfile) to the machines' ip on which the ofpserver is running. step four: --------- forward a second port to be listed in the ingamebrowsers (gamespy etc.). so if you have set the ofpserver port in the configfile to 2323, your second port has to be 2324! (ofpserverport+1) step five: --------- apply the settings and start the ofp server. grab the all seeing eye or whatever and hopefully you'll see your server listed. i hope this helps...

the server 1.96b, released by bis in july 2005, protects your servers against idfakers and cheaters, but there is no linux version available these days - damn eh?! solution: we have created a short paper which describes how to setup the new win32 ofpserver executables on penguin powered machines. the difficulty level is easy to medium, but roots should know what's to do and it possibly become a piece of cake :P WIN32 on TUX right click and save! (pls do not hotlink this paper - violation will result in deletion!!! we just hope, that it is a bit handy... send any improvement suggestions to info-at-storiedveterans-dot-de ...and don't count orthography and grammar, english is not our native language :P

the new ofpserver is working fine with WINE, so idfaking seems to be stopped on linux as well as on native windows based servers by the release of ofpserver 1.96b!!!!! just setup a XSERVER, route the signals to the VNC and startup the ofpserver1.96b by using WINE - the win32 "emulator". ...was tested successfully on SuSE8.2 by 1stG.U.N.S.! we didn't have tested the performance with 30 players, yet, so i'll report more to complete this post! wine: http://www.winehq.com/ vnc : http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/VNC.html

hopefully they wont, especially on tanks i love these 30m jumps w/o causing damage *lol* i remember my time on the leopard2a5. we drove at least 40km/h through the exercise area and then there was a small hole in the ground 2mË› and just 50cm low. i guess you know what's happened the result were a broken torsion bar and one broken track roller. we were disabled and ready to get some milans from the hostile antitank teams around us so i do really prefer some improvements on the physicengine

we do not read the chat, it seems to be encrypted (maybe i'm wrong here). we do just read and use those packets, which are definetely not encrypted, to protect ourselves from breaking the copyrights (re-engineering the packetencoding techniques in that case) we would need an official permission from the copyright owners to be safe and this of course is impossible during a time ofp1 is still being sold... ehm btw: whats about id faking?! im interested in the way the hecklers' have coded this tool. doens't need this, some kind of re-engineering too?! tkc always says, they just mod the game with their cheats, but coding an id faker, needs to re-engineer the code in some parts in my humble opinion... editË›: does anyone have tried to run the new windoze server under linux using WINE?! would be intresting to know, cause vmware needs lot of performance...
-
ofp is mabye not that simple client server model you have in mind dude, so 'just compiling' on linux possibly needs more time and is harder to perform. maybe the whole code differs from os to os, so the different logfilestyles could be an evidence for this. however, lets just hope and those who pray shall pray i guess that this patch is no "support", its just cheerfulness to the community! wow, you have analyzed the whole packetencoding, or do you just read the unencoded chars, like we do to autokick/ban ids and ips when fakers, or stupid(*) cheaters arrive?! It is easy to be wise after the event. (*) stupid in using the cheats
-
thanx for your statement suma!!!! however, i remember a song from underworld called "you bring light in!" think the topics fits to the work you've done edit: i understand that your timeframe is running short, so there is definetley more than bits and bytes called real life and women

don't discuss such things here pls. you need to read placebos' post twice to understand, dont you?!
