and it was obviously a lie, so what? I have so many new, really great games on the shelf for the 360 that I don't know how to find the time to play thru them all, so I don't care about the lies of Bohemia anymore. Or about the lies of Codemasters... Grim

Cool, thanks for your opinion. But just in case you didn't see it - this is the 'ArmA2 - The Xbox 360' thread. Thanks again, very much appreciated... Grim
-
Great idea and long overdue. The bashing won't stop, so close this pointless thread, it's getting silly. Grim
-
The next MS box is probably years away, MS made it pretty clear that the 360 hasn't seen half of its lifetime. Grim
-
Afaik any backwards compatibility of a game is done by MS, so to make OFP: Elite run on the 360 is not in the hands of BI. I might be wrong, but I doubt it ;-) Grim
-
And what does that tell you? That the controller is not working? Or that - perhaps, just perhaps - playing once with a system you are not used to is...not enough to get used to it? Grim
-
Tom, with all respect, would it be too much of a hassle to write an English we all can read/understand a bit easier? Your 'phonetic' form of writing is - at least for us non-native speakers - a pain to read. Thank you very much. Grim

Thanks Buzzin I somehow missed that post of yours. I agree that the BI statement makes only sense if understood as the companys philosophy and until that post is not changed, we can perhaps still hope for a future version of the game for consoles. It might not the current console generation, though. Grim

Saying the patch was good because they don't work an a console version is complete nonsense and I simply said that it would make more sense (not stating that it is so) to argue that the patch was good because they do work on such a version. Why? They improved their codes and engine for OFP: Elite on the Xbox 1 and that helped them to create the Arma games. So perhaps working with the platform that is more limited in a way helps them to improve the game on the PC as well? Don't know of course, just a thought. Grim
-
Because ArmA2 wouldn't be just one more FPS. The environment for true tac shooters/mil sims is not saturated on consoles and that's both, a problem for us as well as a chance for BI to grab. Grim
-
It would perhaps make more sense to think that the patch was excellent because they do work on a console version... Grim

Who's ignorant here? You are simply repeating things over and over and you obviously don't read what I write. As I have said before: you can do a lot of things with your holy PC but that doesn't mean that everyone does want to do that. Is that so complicated? The console is already part of your multimedia/home cinema set in your living room, the PC usually is not part of it. It's possible yes, but not everyone thinks it is desirable. 'Not as good' - for what? The consoles are good enough for many people to play games the way they enjoy to play them (put disc in and press start), they may be not good enough to run a certain game on the highest possible settings with a bundle of mods loaded (although that's technically possible) - but again: that's not really what all players are after. Give me a game that works on my platform without much hassle and you can keep your mods for yourself. Just because many PC gamers simply suck when trying to play with a controller (like I suck when trying to play with keyboard/mouse) doesn't mean that a controller is always inferior to the k/m combo. Console games are designed for the controller and if the design is good the game works perfectly with it. Many PC gamers also play with the 360 controller btw. And many console gamers also play with k/m on their console. It's a design decision to allow that, not a mysterious tech limitation. And regarding my 'fanboyism': you may have missed the fact that this here is a thread about Arma2 on consoles, so the only fanboyism here is coming from the PC folks (but they usually hijack every thread where the word console is part of the title - it's like the light attracting the moths). Grim (now really out)

You don't get it, hm? Some people don't want to play on a small 24'' monitor. Or on a PC where you have to mess around with patches and system problems all the time. And some people simply don't want to have a PC standing around in the living room where the home cinema is located. Only because it's possible to do certain things with a PC, many people still don't want to do it for a zillion different reasons. You can also cook a soup in your bathtub if you really want to do that - but some folks find it easier to cook that soup in a stockpot. Yeah, I see - you really don't get it. The debates here about PC vs consoles are just a waste of time, I'm out. We'll see what BIS will do regarding a console version and I just don't care any longer whether it comes out or not. Would be nice to have, sure, but this guessing around is going on for years now without any new news from BI folks. If it comes out I'll play it, if it does not come out I'll play other games instead. Really simple. Enjoy your flames, guys... Grim (leaves the thread to play Fallout 3 in his home cinema room on the 360)

And you seriously wonder why I call you a troll? What are you - a prayer mill? 'it won't going to happen, it won't going to happen, it won't going to happen' Grim

The whole debate about console owners not having the money for a PC is just the typical pseudo-elitist nonsense we get to hear over and over again. Tell you what, my notebook did cost >2000 USD and I don't play games on it (besides boardgame consims via certain GAPs), nor am I interested in that for the future at all. Gaming on a console is something completely different than what you get on a PC. A huge HDTV, a surround system with enough omph to shake your house and sitting comfortably in a relaxing chair while you play your games is different how you folks play games on the PC. I could very much say the same nonsense ('you don't have the money' bla bla) in the other direction e.g. that you PC folks are lacking style and therefore it's apparently enough for you to play games on a PC while sitting at your desk like a monkey on the bike. Does that make sense to you? Is that what you think make you play games on your chosen gaming platform? I doubt that but then please spare us your insights why we have chosen a different way to play and enjoy our games. For most console owners gaming on the PC is not fun and that's why we don't do it. It's that easy, really. Grim

Don't feed that troll Tom, just ignore him. Grim

Amen bro.. Although I still have interest in an ArmA game for the 360, the situation is frustrating and hope seems rather pointless. I still see no reason why BIS is not saying something concrete (positive or negative or at least something like: 'it will come if we can solve some problems we encountered') by now and that drives me into the same direction as you, I realize I don't care anymore whether it comes or not (which is not the same as having some interest). I'm not sure that BIS is really aware what huge opportunity is here for them to just grab after the DR desaster... Grim

The patch is a fuckin' joke. They didn't even fix the checkpoint problem in COOP. But dare to announce DLC, of course not for free (which was announced as so many things were...all lies) Game sold! Waiting for ArmA on the 360 ... Grim

Sums it up pretty good...alas Grim

Wtf???

All we had was guessing on our side and a lot of announcements about the game on CM's side. For some reasons I trusted CM because I wasn't aware how easily they could turn around and decide to publish a more than mediocre shooter and put the Flashpoint stamp on it to sell it. If the game would include all the things they announced for it I think it could be an awesome game, all we have now is an empty trash can since almost nothing is in there from these announcements and what's in, is implemented in a ridiculously flawed way: mission design, vehicle handling, mission presentation, command mechanics, the map, and other things. If nothing is in there what you expect in a Flashpoint game and the rest of the game is raising a laugh when compared to other shooters these days, what's left? Consoles and especially the 360 don't need more shooters, we have plenty of them and most of them really rock (a shooter can be an awesome game even without being a milsim), but a Flashpoint experience. FDR isn't one, it isn't even a good experience at all. Grim

Well...what shall I say...I said all the time before, you may remember, give them time and see what the game is about and then judge it. I bought it, I played it...I judged it and I'm still quite perplexed how bad the game actually is. Don't know what to say. They fucked it up completely...the title quoted above fits perfectly. Where's my whiskey? Grim
-
As others told you already, if you want to improve the Elite control pattern, then go, buy a Xbox1 and OFP:Elite and play it for yourself. The game's controls were near perfect and all folks I know never had any problems with it. The only problem I had was the damn fog when flying. Otherwise the game was great. Grim

You won't get a clear answer. Grim
-
That's exactly the point. Since BI announced that they work on a 360 version and because they already have good experience with the Xbox1 this question is obviously answered by BI. And because of this I don't want to see all these anti-console posts here in this specific thread where we discuss what BI announced. You know I could perfectly understand all the reactions if we would show up here and ask a company to give us a version for the 360, out of nothing so to say. But that's not what we do. Somehow you must hammer it into your brain that your beloved company BI is not a PC exclusive company any longer, they are also a console game company (and yes, one published game is enough) whether you like it or not.
