Very promising previews, seems CM is going to make it right And it will definitely come to the consoles as well and at the same time as the PC version BI...don't make any mistakes now... Grim

Aha, that's why I saw you today playing CoD4! I first thought about joining your session but then got a phone call. These little 'things' you are now using come close to cheating my friend ;-) But let's wait 7 years then I am at your age so I might need them, too :P Grim

And as long as a console is on the market games are made for it, not the other way round as it is the case with the pc. I'm quite sure that BI is going to publish ArmA2 for the 360 at least, they can't ignore this market and the near perfect online service and they can't ignore that the only competitor in the field is definitely going to be published on both 360 and PS3. So they have to keep up with CM... Grim

The console way is by far the cheaper way I'd say Grim

It can't? Since consoles use highspeed internet connection patching can be and is easily done. Grim

I highly doubt that and you should not tell folks such 'facts' without giving the proper source for it. Otherwise that smells of the usual console bashing we are so used to here on the fora... Grim

Such questions can only be answered by those who develop the game. The console of course would allow for all these things if the game is made to use them. Even that is possible and not that much a question of the platform for a game but of the way how it is designed. Tom Clancy's End War uses an awesome voice command engine that seems perfect for all kinds of mil sims to make decisons faster and commands more intuitive to use and at the same time enhancing the immersion into the war situation that is portrayed. Using this engine in their game as an optional command system would allow BI to make a real step forward...:) Grim

off topic rant on: When the devs are ready to use the full potential of the PS3...the new Xbox will be out and beat their system - again. The PS3 is too complicated to handle for most developers and that's why still most 360 games look better and run smoother than the same games on the PS3. off topic rant off... Grim

...are going to play OFP2, it's that easy Grim

Halo has some problems with its ranking system and the map rotation and I don't like the always jumping halo boys, but I played COD4:MW for a full year almost every day. It was a perfect game experience with an addictive ranking/PERK system and an awesome shooter. Boring? No, not the least... Grim

Left4Dead: Demo out now :for prepurchases only ;)
Grimnirsson replied to SHWiiNG's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I thought he meant a feeling of tension and being nervous with 'scary' since no game or movie can ever do more (at least to me). And if you play on the expert level this tension increases a lot since the AI Director can swarm you with hundreds of zombies. Since the AI Director is handling the whole game (the zombies, the team AI, the sound, the weather etc.) and all of this stuff is actually changing everytime you play it it does a great job. No problems here, works fine. Graphics are good, textures are rather crisp and I have seen no pop ups and slow downs so far. Here's a video from the demo: 15 minutes gamplay from Demo Good game  Grim -

It is scary and a pretty good Zombie movie to play in - but only if you are not a 'traditionalist' (you know the slow-motion-dumb-as-hell-Romero-Zombies). Left4Dead belongs to the 'fast runners' Zombie genre and because of this the game is able to actually put some real pressure on the players so you have to work together or they will just overrun you. The game wouldn't work with the slow-motion Zombies. Great game and lots of potential for DLC. Grim -
Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced
Grimnirsson replied to imported_bör's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I'd say what we know from the so called gameplay videos is only some short impressions from a rather early design state. Let's see what CM is able to deliver with their final game, I'm pretty sure they won't torpedo their total-realism approach with bad character movement or one that is too limited to act in a believable way in the otherwise (hopefully) realistic environment. Grim -
Afaik it used an improved engine and looked better than what I saw on the PC. That's a design decison made by BI for whatever reasons, it certainly has nothing to do with the fact that it will also be published for consoles. OFP2 is also done for consoles and it doesn't focus on a small group. Grim

Hi Denz, I have to be around, now that I know my console will get 2 war sims. Â Btw did you ever manage to get the Red Hammer campaign running on the Xbox? best, Grim

Designing and publishing games is about making money and not about 'attention' per se. The money is made with console games nowadays and so that's the direction the publisher's attention is naturally directed. I doubt that this will change in the future with even more powerful consoles at the horizon. Grim

Afaik that's not 'likely' but a fact. Grim -
Who is supposed to be the marine on this pic, the one on the left or the one on the right? Grim
-
I'm aware of this of course, but what about using fixed script commads? Things that are already there to be used by the console mission maker who then just picks the commands he wants to use in the mission? A drag & drop scripting so to say. Grim
-
And BI, please - don't dumb the editor down! Set an example that the editor can be as good on the 360 as on the PC, I'm sure it is possible. Grim
-
Unfortunately it doesn't run on the 360, friend... Does this forum have an ignore feature so I don't have to read bs stuff like this all the time? Rocco, were you born as a knucklehead or did you learn it from other pinheads?
-
I don't think that BI can get away with a delay this time. First they made this mistake with OFP: Elite which was published when the Xbox1 was already way over its time (and the 360 already at the horizon) and to do this again will lead to the same result as with OFP: Elite (great game but not many folks playing it) And this time there's a real tough opponent on the battlefield, any delay will make them lose ground to OFP2.
-
And OFP2 is going to be an arcade shooter or what? Grim
-
Yes, it was/still is possible to do that but only with a (soft)modded Xbox. No need for sarcasm my friend. First, one can use keypads and also keyboards with the 360, so it would be possible. Why writing command lines is easy as hell How much pain in the ass it actually is, well, BI should leave that to the gamers I'd say. Give us the opportunities to get the most out of our hardware and whether someone wants to use it and to what extent is their choice. And in one of these videos someone said - at least that's what I understood - that the 1200 script commands can be easily activated with a simple drag & drop procedure. If that's not perfect for a controller I don't know what is. OFP: Elite had a perfect flightstick setup built in, so it was easy to connect my Thrustmaster stick and I was ready to go without any problems. So BI could as well implement a keyboard support in Arma2 so we can use it for writing, scripting, whatever. Grim
