No, not a good point in the 360 folder here. Do...not...feed...the...Troll... Grim

Wise decision. Grim

Relax, there's no release date for the 360 version, no confirmation other than interviews that say BI is working on such a version in parallel to the PC version...and no official announcement that it is cancled, either. We know next to nothing and all you can read here is pure guessing and speculation. Since BI prefers do not tell us something concrete you have two choices: join the guessings or relax and wait. If it comes it comes, if not then not. Personally I am tired of guessing and will play FDR until ArmA2 will be published for the 360 or till I hear it won't come. Grim

I don't know about the current state of this version and it doesn't really matter. All I wanted to say is if it is gonna published it won't be a simple port over from the PC (hopefully not, because all the bugs won't allow any passing in the MS quality control - which is a good thing btw) All fine, but if the game by CM is a winner (and I suppose it will) BI will have a difficult start to catch up with the leader then. The 360 has so many great games that perhaps one true milsim will be enough to get all the attention... Grim

Afaik it's said by a BI official that they don't port it over but that they work in parallel on the 360 version. It's said in one of the many videos one can find on youtube, don't remember which it was, though. Grim
-
FP-DR has all this too and will run on consoles just fine. Except for the editor which as a standalone thingy needs an OS like windows and is not included (BIG FAIL for CM imho since OFP: Elite had a good editor...).
-
But a lot of bugs and errors and not working scripts and and and...we'll see what's the better sim and the better game in a few months.
-
It's supposed to be a warsim and I think they will be closer to any definition of this term than to a CoD clone. But that's just guessing from what I read on the CM forum: ----- Grim

It's just a trailer...give the audience some action, put as much content into the movie as you can...whatever Grim

I get the impression that there are not that many wargamers around here, the fanboy faction seems to be the majority. The silly I hope I won't see too much stuff like that in future DR videos, hope the game fails in other aspects or something statement shows it's more about 'my game vs your game' and not about the future of the genre...:icon_ohmygod:

What I'm saying all the time - let's wait and see. Then we all can decide if the game is good or sucks. Any 'it's crap' before the release is hot air.
-
I don't know why folks can't simply wait and see how good and 'realistic' the game is. We don't know how the game works, how it plays so why always this silly bashing? Btw no matter how good OFP: Elite was (and I loved it) it's quite dead now and if ArmA2 won't be published for the 360, FDR is certainly winning the race and his statement will be a true one, even with realism turned down...
-
OFP:Elite was released for the Xbox 1 and we played it on a SDTV and even then we didn't have any problems with shooting enemies at the horizon. Grim

People always forget that even if it might be so that the k/m combo is faster etc. this is a moot point when a player is not used to the k/m control. I totally suck with k/m in FPS and am neither fast with it nor does it play smooth in any way. Rather sooner than later I get a hand muscle spasm and have to quit the game. On the other hand I'm really fast with the 360 controller and I don't have to think about it, it feels natural to use it and I can play for hours and hours without problems. Since ArmA2 on the 360 is not for the PC folks but for those who already can use a controller much faster than those who are not used to it, the technical aspect (i.e. that the k/m can be more precise/faster) is irrelevant for both - the gameplay and the player. Grim

And what makes you think so? Because he said that they turn down the realism a bit compared to OFP1? From what he said I think this is mainly about the health feature so that you still have a chance to fight on if the shot wasn't deadly. The bleeding thing was the only point he mentioned regarding the turned down realism and he actually emphasized the fact that it will be the most realistic tacshooter on any console so your statement is the usual hyperbole we can find so often here when it comes to the CM game. All this is actually quite a moot point since we don't know yet how the game will look and play in the end. Let's wait and see. Grim
-
An actual release date no matter how far away from now is at least much better than a TBA sticker. I would love to wait if I knew that the game is simply needing more time to run well on the 360 and won't have the problems the PC version had (still has?) when it came out.
-
The better game will get the most points by the gamers...so let's wait and see which one actually is better. Grim

I know this video and all this is great to hear, but BI should really say something offical now. I mean that's all fine with 'can't tell you unless we have a publisher' etc but they apparently did speak about this topic as we can see in this and other videos and these statements were official, no? So why not give the fans, who are guessing and hoping and losing confidence in a 360 version, some reason to relax? As long as BI is silent on the topic all these videos don't help much in keeping up the morale because why should we think that it's still relevant what he said months ago? Grim

What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?

Yep, that's correct - you can't fly tanks in OFP: Dragon Rising... Grim -

Well said -
You see what I mean? You say that you would like to see a console version etc. and then your conclusion is, people need to upgrade and play it on their PC to 'get a really experienced clan based MP' - what makes you think that such a MP is not possible over Xbox Live??? It's as I said in my previous post, it's always the same PC > console stuff that is discussed, it's always about the same old points, it's the same old 'discussion' over and over and over. Grim

*sigh* I'm actually getting a bit tired of all the same points being brought up over and over and over. The controls are no problem if done right - it was said a zillion times already that BI made a good job with OFP: Elite and that the controls do work fine. So why shouldn't it be possible to do on the 360? And all the talking about how much more powerful PCs are...again and again...I mean we do have so many games that look absolut great on the 360 and even if all the stuff that happens in a open-world milsim like ArmA2 might lead to lower graphics than on the high-end PCs - so what? This game is not about graphics alone and the 360 is much more powerful than the Xbox 1 so we should at least get a decent looking game this time. Would work for me. (GTA IV is a big world, too and looks very good, so game developers are able to do such stuff on a console) But all this long time now with lots of guesses and comments and arguments from the fans who want to have the game (and from the PC boys of whom many don't want to see it happen) on the 360 and no recent comments by BI has brought me now to the point that I actually no longer care whether this game will be published on the 360 or not. I'm with Max here, I have so many great games on the 360, Codemasters is obviously able to publish a sim on the 360 (and yes I know, ArmA2 is of course a lot 'simier' than this mere arcade shooter, everything is better with ArmA2 etc.... - so don't start this debate here again), and we even have semi-realistic Tac Shooters like the GRAW series which offer an excellent gaming experience, besides all the other games not being shooters - I really no longer care. If BI is able to publish it, then that's great and I'll buy and play it for a looooong time, that's for sure. If BI for whatever reason can't or don't want to publish it on the 360, then so be it. Grim *tired of hoping and guessing*
-
Because BI said they are working on a 360 version in parallel to the PC version. But folks start to actually doubt now that it will come out - check out the discussion in this very thread... Grim

I do hear what you are saying: I will still play all the other crap games for my XBOX 360 (...) You obviously didn't get my point. Most gamers will play other games exclusively or in addition to sim games on consoles and they most likely don't want to hear their games called crap because it's not about realism. That kind of 'promoting' the MilSims will only alienate these players. So they are apparently not fun enough for you it seems. I played CoD:MW for one year almost daily and that for 1-3 hours a day. It didn't get old that soon and that goes for all the players I know. It will depend on the team, the players, not so much on the game. Ask Max Q, I suppose he will tell you that he has lots of fun and team work with his clan when playing Bad Company. Grim

I don't think you are helping a possible release of ArmA2 by making such statements. I mean I'm all for ArmA2 on the 360, but to constantly repeat the mantra that there's only 'crap' out there for the hardcore gamer console is nonsense. You know, I'm a grognard, that's someone who is deep into playing military strategy simulations (hex'n counter 'games' often with huge maps, many thousands of counters, 50+ hours for the campaign game and complex, long rules), so I have a tendency towards serious games. But I play many games and different genres and there are many excellent games available for the 360. And that CoD and BF are not military sims don't make them bad games or 'crap'. It's not only about a niche game here and there, it's also about how the mainstream gamers hear about these milsims. If all they hear is 'what you are playing is crap, look here - that's the real stuff!' the only thing you'll achieve is that they think 'WTF? - I go back playing fun games with people who don't bash my hobby.' The point is, the mainstream gamers don't need these games, don't need us - we want to see the game be published on the 360 and so we need them...if some folks from this mainstream are directed to this thread, reading your constant bashing of all the other games available for the 360, I doubt that this will spark any interest on their side.
