Thanks you ladz for waiting sooo long, work has been delayed we know (so has armed assault it seems lol) But regardless, the reason for this has been the amount of uni work etc i have. That said, my holidays are coming up in a week, and for that time i will be dedicating enough so that the first release will get finished within 4 weeks. I know that sounds like ages, but at least you chaps will have an idea and some reassurance that things are still happening
-
Okay lads sorry for the lack of updates, just some damn uni stuff blocking us out for a week, but rest assured we ain't got much left for this beta. Soon as we get a log of time we'll juuuust finish it off for team testing, (yes you can all join but that process has not started yet.)
-
Hey Longstreet welcome to the thread, I'll get a chance to check out that site later today, but thanx for contributing. The campaign after second bull run, i think will focus around a kind of fictional affair, where as part of a company of riflemen you are assisting in covering the union retreat against voracious attempts by the rebs to pursue.
-
Well bigus thanx for your kind allowance for us to work on your map of Bull Run also, I think you will be very pleased with the results of the additional objects and custom artwork added. From new tree edits to new buildings etc. But because of your kind contribution you have saved much time on map development, that would have delayed our release for a month from when it does go out, and of course our first campaign is now set on your map Eventually I'd love to do more edits on your other maps, that is adding and creating custom artwork for objects etc. In any case you share directly in the credit for your kind generosity.

Yeah looking smart cowboy loving it these are nice and clear, and will look attractive but be very functionable and easy to read, which is the most important function they will serve for the player i think in the mod. Great work Lt HuNTeR
-
Ya lads, its appreciated when you provide compliments to our work, but its important that you share that support to more than just me, because it does aggravate the other guys and its my fault entirely (obviousy) because i should be a little more clear on the varied nature of the contributions to our work effort. Lt HuNTeR does get a wee bit ignored on the thread, and its a shame because his work is just as vital but because it does not constitute a nice first lod screenshot, its simply harder to tell what he's contributed. But for the record chaps, this release would be at least two months from now, if it had not been for his tireless work on making over a 100 custom models to be used as lods, not crap lods, but high quality lods to the standard of I44 (his previous mod.) So I invite you to give your support to him and the rest of the team kudus to Lt HuNTeR and the rest of the team
-
lol I know i know Lt HuNTeR, this is the thing that happens tho, in anycase chaps good ol' Lt HuNTeR has done some great work on the compass, but he is also doing a watch that will look good too. As for Williams keep up the good work, he is making buildings with internals, this is not as easy as it sounds (and im sure it doesnt sound easy! So keep up that good work Williams, I will include that building of yours in the Bull Run map i think. Oh and furthermore welcome to the thread Loony!
-
Thanx Biv, and yep they will get pulled by horses? did i already say that actually er? Ah well, and that compass is looking good too Lt HuNTeR
-
Alright heres a nice sneak peak at our carriage, there will be two types, one driven by two horses (for infantry etc) and one by 4 horses, carrying heavier supplies. The model by Lt HuNTeR , and textures by Zalmoxis.
-
Yup thanx lads for all contributing to the thread! Some new faces too welcome to the thread triniton and Deagle! and a wee visit from conners of the ww1 mod, how close are u lads to release now? haha Its great to hear response, and it keeps the mod teams morale up to have you guys give support etc, it makes em all work that bit harder Right now a unit overview will be coming soon, in the form of a pdf online booklet encyclopedia, that has been made by a professional graphic designer, (helps if one works for you haha) and this will feature descriptions of all the units, weapons, the map and the campaign and also suggestions for the ofp application of certain units, weapons and regiments, so you guys know who are the uber guys who are the normal and what guns are great for what Biv there is a possibility, I will do a wee bit more to the texans as well, as their a bit of a fav of mine at the moment. They will be released with the first edition also  I am also considering adding a very subtle 'bonus' ability to special regiments, now these would be subtle and not overwhelming, but it would include some regiment types being able to move slightly faster (like 5%) over land, others being very slightly more tough as well. In anycase we're getting there lads, the addons for the release are almost done. We're onto things like compass and improved GUI and other tit bits. You lads will not have to wait for the campaign to get finished before getting to sign up and join the mod as a beta tester (though that has some responsibilities) which will happen in about 2 or 3 weeks.
-
Alright boys, though im not really trying to add lots of units till the update expansion pack, i did add these at the last sec. This was a requested unit by BIV, the 4th Texas Volanteers, with their black hats, their black trouser and jacket trims, (sleeves too) and they are as requested very dirty. (i decided to give em shoes tho) but they are all armed with the 1855 springfield too, (except there is also a sharpshooter, a corporal and a pistol armed sarge too - tho he has a musket as well.)
-
Alright you commando's and ladies, the horses are now done, *drumroll* the infantry are done *drum roll* The weapons are 99% done haha, needing the odd sound or um, half an optic or something. The only addons needing done really are a few map objects here and there, (the only real addon for this release left is a horse carriage for army transport, and the texturing of a tent or two.) Leaving us with the campaign... so progress is 'AAaaaaa' okay
-
Yup just to clarify gents its not a case that the cavalry would be released with 'less abilities' per unit. See cavalry when u pick them in the editor will probably be - So while your unit might have a carbine and a pistol dismounted, when on the horse the unit will fire from 1 type (and with that type of anim.) Carbine Pistol Melee So these are 3 types of unit, and if i make the pistol unit for the first release, then that will save time, and if we want all 3 types of cavalry unit, it will take another 2 weeks probably Personally I think it would be better to add them to the update (with the rest of the extra regiments blah blah) but I respect Harleys point of course. 2:1

What no cries of glory? no hot girls on the thread offering me 'comfort editing' or nothing... just me, having to reply to my own thread! How sad haha Righto, im gonna post some pics of the cavalry, were slowly getting there but heres a question. Right, now i edited the old horse and other anims, using new models, new anims, using some of the older one, - and cool enuf ill be sharing these with mods too, but my point is this. Do we want cavalry firing carbines and pistols and using swords? I think the answer is yeah sure... but the work would mean delaying the release? So cavalry firing pistols on horses, carbines when dismounted (will use pistols at close range tho) Would that be ok for release 1? Then add more to release 2? Let me know

This was an alternative to the erotic related bumbutt media campaign suggested by Lt HuNTeR that I think would have been faaar too exciting for most OFP community members phwoar! Anyway just to keep u posted, at the moment the horsie is getting different paintworks and getting rigged up with its riders and a bit of code. Thanks to picket and others who originated this, we are now trying to hone it a little further and add a few new / replace some anims etc. This is time consuming sadly, but not so time consuming that an update won't be coming soon
-
Right you miserable scum thats enuf off topic-ness! If you would like to do something useful than debating the deficiencies of our british arms, lol, why not somebody help us get a wee webpage up? We're getting near a time now that a simple page would be useful
-
lol well if its anything it will be an ak lol (and even then lets not let that distract us from the historical accuracy we are achieving lol) this is just a small token for fans of the fiction written by turtledove, (his alternative histories) lol
-
Yep is it not an illustration from the book 'Guns for the South' about south african time travellers who supply the confederacy with a big shipment of AKs. A fascinating book!
-
look u jobbies lol that is NOT the anim, i was showing the old crappy one we completely replaced!! The new one is much better with horse head movement etc... Im convinced nobody actually reads my posts blah blah Right its there only to give an example of our earliest attempt so gubbins from ECP could get an idea what the finished would look like by comparing it to our first and worst. so rest assured the horses head jiggles as you would know belgerot if you read the page!!!
-
Oh man its a pain to make a video really, however there is a cheesy self publicising trailer we are making muhaahahhaaha So you will see the horse galloping in that! C4P741N you work on ECP? Its good work you lads are doing over there, I hope to implement some features into our mod, like the random anims on different modes, and sound play files etc. This is a video clip of the EARLIEST ATTEMPT, as you can see, this did not have the head or tail moving, and used a very rough edit of the mule turned into a horse by mig. lol http://www.newagefilm.co.uk/horse-earlytest01.wmv But even tho you can see the leg anims themselves aren't terrible, but not nearly good enuf for us so... If you take this as an example of our worst attempt at the horse early on, (ONLY) in terms of animation, then rest assured C4P741N you will be pleased with the finished results with the brand new animations and new model of horse. (that animates all the joints of the leg, all 3, not just 2 like the old cwmod one, great tho that work was etc. The horse includes a pretty painful looking death animation too of course. Our cavarly will feature 3 kinds of units, pistol firers, carbine firers and melee units. Each will feature different animations for the rider, with his boots in the stirrups and him bouncing about a little on the horse etc. As for the sound effect for the house galloping, its very difficult to find one that pleases everyone, but if you have a preference Bic, search one or two out and send them to me, and we can maybe stick em in. Marcus thanks for your positive feedback, Popka, biv etc, ur comments keep the thread a positive forum of debate The cavalry will take a week, then it will be another week for objects, then the GUI and a short but groovy campaign will be be done in the fortnight following. So we're getting there lads

American Civil War Mod v.1.2 released.
gavinthecat replied to Triglav's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
yep amazingly there is still no game that can do what ofp can do -
Rest assured my friend that the horses head and tail already moves while galloping, and unlike the old horse (no offense to that cool effort) the 3 parts of the horses leg move rather than just 2, meaning it looks a lot more life like and natural.
-
yep Marcus probably about 4 weeks to go i think roughly for the internalised team beta, but ull be able to sign up for that tho buddy And yeah Conner u better! lol Lt HuNTeR i know what u mean!
-
at least 11 variants!!!! Oh well you heart the man Lt HuNTeR, better get to work! lol
-
Yeah there will be wild west component especially with the larger map that won't be in the first release. However, lol, our wild west is not a cartoonish depiction, it will be a realisation of the most 'extreme' events stylised for our fictional storyline, but regardless, we want our players to feel true grit in their mouths lol. So anyone expecting pink jackets and shiney spurs might want to shoot themselves haha. But if you like spaghetti westerns haha then that is okay (cos bar the innacuracies due to budget restraints) these films with at the time, hugely contraverisal levels of violence, were seen, at that time as more realistic than hollywood. Anyway, before you all complain that the wild west wasnt always a blood bath just remember, in ww1 it wasnt a blood bath on the island of fuji (but nobodies making a mod about that are they...) As regards to the reload anims, no, the idiot unit will not reload every single cartridge / bullet individually into this gun... Yeah all those period houses will be included too, but don't expect them all to be enterable, (if i had to model a barbers interior... and this an that the mod would never be finished lol)
