Been experimenting with an early horse beta, ive come up with a way that im sure is the same way u guys are coming up with, for making a workable horse dragoon. http://img68.echo.cx/my.php?image=slouch6or.jpg Okay ya crazy boys, heres some union dismounted cavalry, other versions will include some with holsters, pistols, and their swords by yon side, Now i know ur all thinking, 'hey gav thats great but wheres the mounted cavalry' well er... their coming, albeit horses are being animated at the mo (with rider on) as a kind of animated riding vehicle with a script that lets u shoot the rider off (or dismount bless) u can shoot the horse and the rider will survive etc, now that might sound totally amazing, but at the moment its a bit cpu heavy, so some guys on the cwmod forum, (volanteers and some cwmod members) are working on a way to improve this. I too will probably check out that scene to lend a hand (as im a little bit of a scripter myself) So then, what are these guys good for ? Well their great, cos there a little more reckless than ur average joe, they pack shorter range carbines that can be reloaded faster (more firepower) and they did a lot of fighting off horse back too. I aint gonna sprout a history lesson on ya (cos we know that starts flames) but for example, in Gettysburg, union cavarly (dismounted) held of the confederates for quite a while, in a skirmish, delaying them while union positions could be reinforced etc. Plus they er... look cool God Bless

Man im starting to feel like a spammer, lol here is a wip of some union cavalry, they will include versions in slouch hats, kepilalies and with and without swords, some with pistols, holsters (a little less formal) Rather than give them all swords, its presumable if they were dismounting they might put it somewhere close by (im not saying they all would) but this way u get a choice etc, http://img68.echo.cx/my.php?image=slouch6or.jpg -

Well probably bit by bit i think, cos id get pockelwhipped if i waited for one release im sure. The first v1.0 release roughtly includes, Union Soldiers, Elites, (using auto bayonets) Confederate Soldiers, Elites, (using auto bayonets) 20 Cowboys 10 Civilians (Wild West Face Pack 30, randomly applied) A Wild West Theme Map (+Containing many custom objects) 10 + Weapons Several Field Guns New GUI Several Single Missions

Yeah sure u can capair however i expect all beta testers to lie in their reports, and to report only how wonderful the addons are despite the bugs, see thats how things work in er.. professional mods. Meanwhile, i was getting bumpocketed by a badger in regards to 'event handlers' I had totally reorganised all the scripts, into what i expect would have saved loads of time, only to create some irritating bug in the middle of it, when u do this with a script, u tend to create an irretrievable cycle in ofp, meaning restart , try again etc, total nightmare, back to square 1. Anyway, if u have cool ideas for event handlers, for the units, why not throw in ur ideas now, and ill see what i can do, When a team beta is ready, ill let u guys know, and u can sign up yer tour of duty then

Yeah well lol er like i say triglav... old friend, hehe most of the stuff im talking about that were sharing with u guys is not just stuff weve adapted, which in turn is stuff uve adapted from other mods (in some cases not in most For example our bayonet scripting system is new and is based on the RK mod, (which we gained official permission to use) tho we'll be sharing that with ya too, (it dramatically reduces lag) The custom anims are cool, but new ones are in construction that were sharing too, etc, its true a lot of the old stuff is a 'stop gap' but the new stuff made as in scripts, anims technology blah blah, were sharing with u guys too so its all good. And just to point out, about the lady model lol alllll that stuff was done when i was in charge of cwmod for cwmod, lol so i didnt just make it for house divided, course i have it now lol, but hell i aint fussy about the ladies, if u wan em Basically anything 'new' made from the old stuff was made for cwmod, till i got 'jobby chucked' as we say in scotland, but were not that pernickity, i mean take the weapon models, weve remodelled most of the old ones, and the ones we have been 'kindly given' *cough* were the ones i got suckered into texturing over weeks (without thinking id get bummered by monkeys over) Anyway im rambling, its all good, So yeah i can understand some cwmod grievances, but bless we all got those... And yeah the amatuer - professional thing, well yeah, u guys at cwmod thrive on being amatuer, in the idea that anyone can join, anyone can do this or that, while im one of those evil people that like torture new members, and make em prove they can texture and model, work oxy and can code blah blah. *strokes beard* hmm what we need is a cunning plan, perhaps i can trade my old germans to FDF with permission for them to use them, in exchange for their horse, thats if their horse is 'working' in a manner useful for us. More pics will be coming, mostly of zalmoxis and me map objects. Yep it is, theres more pics to link up, i must do it! must do it nowww! Also we have nearly made the first 'House of Ill Repute' addon for ofp. ;) Pics of that today as well, and yep im just frank on the story of the mod because, lol its not a terrible story anyway (no real bad guys or anything so its cool)

The longest post in history lol //HISTORY Yep well christ we had to bring mod politics here didnt we lol... Yeah the basic story is, I was asked ages ago loads and loads by triglav to make their civil war units (months ago) while i was heading AIA with Klesk (for ww2, u remember) Anyway u know how competitive ww2 modding is, and i always said to triglav, id try to find time to help his mod, but it never transpired, and it left a deep feeling of animosity of some in cwmod. Okay go forward a few months, gavin retires from ww2, (after AIA is obliterated by the bigger ww2 boys) so I think back to a mod i wanted to start ages ago (if u check clint eastwood pics in cz.info lol) u will hear that a wild west mod was something i had planned aeons ago (Before even cwmod !) Anyway I wanted to make civil war units too, but i thought um... there is a cwmod out there already, and that it would be sad just to make stuff like theres. Cos ill be honest (u can hate me for saying this fair enough) but cwmod was made mostly by inexperienced but ambitious addon makers. So i thought obviously (lol mind the tongue in cheek) that with my old ww2 contacts, that our new units would be much better than theres, hence it would be unkind to compete. So if we make them for cwmod, imagine how grateful they would be. Of course they were not, triglav the author, was somewhat horrified at the prospect of me simply wiping off his old work and making it all over again, and since after all he was cwmod leader, he was within his right to say no which he did lol, to which i would say, but u know the new stuff will be better blah blah, and he would be noo nooo (and so we played a game of brinkmanship for ages, u know, just like the UN) Sadly what happened, was a series of misunderstandings, (the best thing to call it) which led me to start making units in the belief that they would not 'replace' as in unit ids, but would be like a v2.0 cwmod etc. So there i am making all new models, textures, replacing everything from weapons to guys, to cannon textures to this and that. Then Triglav, cwmod leader, retires (perhaps out of frustration as this is why most mod leaders retire ;) So I take over cwmod, and recruit new staff, popka, zalmoxis and others (experienced ww2 addon makers some of them, going under different names) But many of the cwmod old guard seeing me as a pompous git who believes their old stuff is below par, and is gonna change everything, (perhaps perhaps) So there i am, mr leader (for a while) hunky dorey, recruiting etc, then my exams came. So i was away for 2 - 3 wks, left regular msgs in a cwmod thread to say i am coming back. Alas, however the cwmod that frequent their forum thread, (the public face) kinda just got fed up cos i was taking too long to make stuff, and triglav, horrified at a rumour that all his addons were gonna be nuked again, rushed back, got his old job back (more or less) while old guard cwmod guys shook their fists at me "yeah we got uuu partner" etc. Meanwhile the new guys i recruited, (who cos of our great organisation at cwmod went mostly unnoticed) never even got a say, but who lurked on my msn, said, hey gav make ur own mod. But heres the challenge, cwmod makes stuff, (some of it using stuff id donated in fact from aeons ago) but that i had since worked on for weeks and weeks... So its in flux, so yeah triglav says he 'allowed' us, which is in one form of truth 'true' but what really happened, was Cwmod split, and i simply gave our half a different name. Triglav was succesful in a coup lol, (and could only be so cos his old mod members wanted him back, so i dont blame him.) But because we are now sharing the weapons we have remodelled, retextured, and made new optics for, as well as all other objects (most completely replacing cwmod stuff, hence we're not editing from cwmod) we are still sharing with them many of our work. Probably cos we still have some of their stuff too. So were not exactly throwing flowers in gratitude to cwmod, but at the same time neither are they for us. Yet ironically, we probably have better relations than most ww2 mods. // THE MOD Anyway, House Divided, is in principal quite similar to what Triglav says, All i'd add is that it is historically accurate, the inclusion of fictional characters is in a vehicle class of their own, does not discount from that, when you consider the enormous effort we've made to making authentic clothes, uniforms and armaments, and even custom map objects etc. Of course cwmod will cater to civil war enthusiasts, but i believe House Divided will give them a serious run for their money on the whole 'civil war' front muhahaha, but triglav is right, we have a wider agenda, and that is the pre civil war wild west, and the mexican civil war (after us of course)

Okay heres a peak at the Wild West Map, this is a total reworking of everon, vegetation towns, and roads have been edited, in essence into something generically scary from the 1850s + Essentially there are towns and many unique places to explore, every single town has something weird, or unwholesome about it, (we have made a cheesy story for the island, to give ya some inspirational ideas about things the towns have kept secret) that relate to objects (such as the hanging tree) and etc etc. So in other words we are trying to infuse this island with loads of custom objects, and unique objects for every town, to make each place, different. Hey guys, lots of picture links coming up in a mo, Basically this mod is looking at the civil war, pre civil war, and mexican civil war, so 1840s - 1880s, quite an epic huh, lol The idea is that we have 3 maps indicative of those 3 eras, now we are recruiting for skilled animators, and modellers, even if ur just curious to have a go u can contact me ;) This mod is historically accurate, tho we have a pretty nightmarish perspective of that history, plus we know u guys like some of us love the movies that inspire an interest in history, so we include famous historical figures, as well as some famous fictional figures, (so far this includes General Lee, Grant, the man with no name (clint eastwood) and Frank (the ultimate villain from 'once upon a time in the west')

Yep thats great, thats all i need to make the optics for those muskets, ill use those as templates, Ur right bigus_dikus about not having conflicts between our mods, the problem is that when development went on inside cwmod, we worked on a lot of things that put them in an ambiguis position, for example new textures for cannons, its cwmods models, but the news have my textures etc... What I propose officially is, 1 We will share the new weapon pack completely including new optics, (nice given that many models have been replaced) and the new AI distance weapons code usage + new weapons we're making. 2 To share the 'vehicles' like the cannon or any other objects that were retextured by me while i was doing them in cwmod. Â Other than that i think we can call it even splits, though in terms of new scripts, animations and other technology were coming to get, (via fancy mods) were happy to share them for free with cwmod in good spirit and hope likewise with any discoveries made, that can help the 'period' genre. Most importantly is our mods have seperate folders anyway, and different focuses (slightly) on period, that give leeway. If we want to share anything else we can discuss it blah blah as we go along -

Ah good lad triglav, that helps a lot, okay ill do the springfield optic tomorrow, just need them for the lorenz and enfield (tho admittedly there isnt going to be much difference is there) Alrighty now here is my favourite western villain, the mod has a category of famous characters (both historical and non historical) in a special vehicles class in the editor. One of my favourite westerns is 'Once upon a Time in the West' a devastating operatic tale of vengeance. One of the finest western villains ive seen was played by Henry Fonda, who at the end of the movie, has a showdown against Charles Bronsan that quit a few consider to be the western genres finest. The photo shows him with his coat (he takes it off when he fights) and hence the addon depicts him with his coat off. Yup well i mean no offence to Sanctuary, the quality of his work is not in dispute as far as im concerned. House Divided already has a seperate mod folder, gui, and u know blah blah, this allows greater accomodation for cooperation also, and to bear in mind we do have a broader but less 'detailed' agenda concerning the civil war, so that should allow the mods to accomodate and enhance one another via shared technology and in concern of weapons and other stuff, shared artistry and modelling. For as is always important, 'common sense' must prevail ! ;) As for animations we are making a set as well, for some particular gun anims and stuff, so we'll see how we get on with that heavens lol -

Ahhh *ruffles beard* good question harley, depends what people request as well, we listen to requests etc, Theres 3 periods to the mod, (focussing mostly on the second) 1 - Pre civil war (early wild west) 2 - Civil War (our main focus, but also on the anarchy that occured) 3 - Post Civil War (i.e. crime sprees, ane mexican civil war) The campaign is supposed to be one man that goes thru an epic life story lol thru these periods, (yeah luck man, and luck mission maker for that one huh lol) yikes. In any case, the firearms are intriguing for us to do, so post war is the winchester, (already done) peacemaker, and other hand guns most probably, including a gatling gun, a range of more sophisticated rifles and shotguns too. -

http://img245.echo.cx/my.php?image=henry3en.jpg There u go, that should work now ;) Only a colt peacemaker left (another post war weapon, but remember we have a broader agenda here) there are currently all the old cwmod weapons remodelled, retextured etc, (to share in peace and harmony) and there are new weapons altogether for the post war including in total, This henry rifle is basically a winchester but during the civil war (ol henrys got bought by winchester after the war, and they advanced the design a little further etc) we also have a gorgeous flintlock pistol that saw some service at the start of the war. pics of those will be coming soon the winchester, cold peacemaker -

And heeerrrres a peak at the henry rifle textured by zalmoxis, modelled by lt hunter thanx *wink* member of i44 Yes Picket, exactly, balance, I did a little small fire, and swordfighting instruction, and its obvious that the hand behind the back, is a fall back from the idea of posture and balance, based on ie. the perfectly aimed thrust of a sword, and hence the perfect aim of a pistol. But like all military technique, it evolves from history, and some of those traditions of military theory, are practiced somewhat differently on the battlefied, rest assured, if it was a perfect technique then why is it most officers, and certainly pistol users, adapted to fight and aim their pistols differently? After all, it is a technique more in tune with flintlock pistols (sonly discarded some years before the war, still in use in some confederate armouries) but in the age of the revolver, this technique, was used and discarded quickly by new officers, while more streetwise soldiers rarely used it at all im sure.
