Heres a sneak peak and progress report, I've done for the basic french so far, French infantry in coat, will include a sergeant, corporal and a basic CO. They include blood textures, and i made a LEBEL M1916 weapon (not particularly amazing) based on some old stuff, looks ok but im sure u'll replace it, in any case i coded it in for the chap here to use. Included also are some french faces that are randomly applied, (this is structured in such a way that it would be easy to add to these faces even more) I'll just keep on busily working, its a slog making units lol - meanwhile shinkansen the models you are doing for us are looking great and definately the town buildings, just of homes, bars, hotels, etc, even church lol these kinda things are great for us, don't worry too much about textures cos we'll spend ages on those anwyay, but the models totally save us time, and are very good work ur doing Note I went through these also, and fixed the bugs associated with this model edit, redefined its bits and bops and reconfigured its lods for optimal performance. Also i have coded an automatic AI bayonet attack for close range.
-
Right oh, well im again very pleased at the new 3d models of buildings being completed, definately shinkansen it is those basic 3d structures, of houses, hotels, bar type places that are the most vital for our island. I've posted this more relevantly in the ww1 mod thread, but just to keep u posted on what we're doing in exchange for models, its a range of basic, foundation units u could say, for the french, british and germans, not an enormous diversion, but a nice chance to cooperate. For more details on these u can check the ww1 thread http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;st=105
-
Okay, more or less, the ww1 units should be done by this wkend, just so u know comrades
-
Hey guys yep sorry i was away for a few days lol visiting the lady! Yep rightie, thats spectacular work Shinkansen and Lt HuNTeR the gatling gun looks damn incredible! While Shinkansen is working for us, i have been working to help them with some ww1 units, which will be complete by this next wkend Also Biv sure thing post more regiments, more the merrier! //EDIT as regards to red indians etc, well its always a possibility after the phase 1 release, we'll consider it then for phase 2
-
Okay was a day or so to post again but here i am! dada! Right well hi josh, welcome to this thread, and yeah post some pics of that regiment, I would love to see em' and we can very well include them. I would like to take the opportunity now, to inform you all of a wonderful arrangement that has been negotiated with the fast and talented modeller shinkansen of the WW1 mod. If you pop over to their thread you will see some of the models he is working on. In our agreement, they have agreed to produce a variety of ship models, (which i believe to be fairly extensive) a number of houses and buildings etc (a town basically) and finally a civil war era fort, which will be a highlight of the map. In exchange I shall be providing them with a number of WW1 soldier unit templates, that they will be free to alter and expand upon. This exclusive agreement, will see our mod jump along in the speed which which our already fairly quick devleopment has been going So hurrah for Dixie!
-
lol sure thing okay, well we'll do those er both offers in exchange for those ships and fortifications u mentioned shinkan, will post pics as units are done When ive got wip ill post the pics in this thread obviously, and when u shinkan have progress post ur pics in the house divided thread yep? (its in addons & mods discussion too) Once ive done the basics, i.e. whats in both offers lol, ill send it to ur mods admin (be it u shinkan or typhoon etc) structured in such a way with a readme explaining how to apply further modificiation to the template and basic troops included. lol HAIL the new deal! hehe... Oh obviously we don't want any of that work done for us leaked about etc, and likewise the work for u guys wont be beta tested by anyone outside myself etc, till its sent to u guys rock on
-
lol well the injury anims i think there are two or three, so lol, it won't be just one, however there obviously can't be loads because well just imagine trying to animate them all. In fact just try animating one bloody frame, its a pain in the arse, so i think 2 or possibly 3 injury anims of the sort described is about the best any 'normal' human can manage before going crazy! lol anyway we'll try and get some more pics up soon just fixing eee ol' weapons coding for the new single pbo
-
Alright once last post before bed, A new injury system has been drawn up, This will lead to the creation of approximatley 3 new injured animations, these are for men hit of course, and will consist of them lying, clutching themselves, and basically being on the ground wounded in agony, for approximately 30 secs, until they can gather their strength and give it one last blast. This will lead to some spectacular and tragic sites, for example mortars and explosions may kill some, but visibly, and i mean VISIBLY injure many. This violent and graphic system should be accompanied by sounds and such like. Also, we shall if possible, mix death anims with dying anims that lead to death. We in all want to create like i say a battlefield with genuine animated life - wounded - dying - death Note, also that the AI will still shoot those lying stricken or wounded, including the bayoneting of them. Well it was a ghastly war, and this new level of cruelty and tragedy i do not think would be out of place. EDIT// its 1:30 am here? not 2:30 er how do i go change this system clock?!
-
Ah well in any case jarvo welcome to this thread Yep I think it may well be the war of independence ur referrring to my friend however, let us not concern ourselves with that (unless our historical advisors wish too, hehe theres no stopping them! As regards to rocket batteries, sure i will consider including them if you can find any historical evidence they were used, I think they would be thrilling to utilise in battle, especially in the sieges we hope to represent in this mod
-
Alright here is an idea me and Harley were discussing, and this is something we are applying. We intend to utilise a special injured animation for units hit, that will see them writhing in agony (falling to the ground) for an intermediate amount of time (with which they may live or die) during which, other units, nearby will try to comfort, drag up and help those, to continue the good fight. We expect this system to create a battlefield with LIFE - WOUNDS - DYING - DEATH As opposed to just life and death, we expect this newly animated environment to bring new depth, and even emotion to the tragic battlefields we recreate More details on that soon.

Well here is an official proposed offer by our mod to your mod, In exchange for exclusive use of a finished naval pack hehe, and in exchange for the development of some basic buildings (no internals just externals) for our custom map. We would propose to offer your mod the following. Complete Addon Pack of This would include detailed lods for great performance, plus blood textures, and a single basic weapon each, plus a corporal and sergeant NCO. OFFER 1 FRENCH WW1 Pvt, Cpl, Sgt + Officer GERMAN WW1 Pvt, Cpl, Sgt + Officer or OFFER 2 FRENCH WW1 Pvt, Cpl, Sgt GERMAN WW1 Pvt, Cpl, Sgt BRITISH WW1 Pvt, Cpl, Sgt Something like that, bearing in mind, that I would furnish them with some custom face packs (automatic applied randomly) and basically, im a super duper unit maker with lots of experience, ha! And you guys obviously could use these templates to make all the men you want from them. However shinkan you are a super duper modeller that works fast, so we could give you a list of what you could make for us, and you could talk obviously over the details with me over what you want If you have msn pm me we can talk there, or publically. I think when the deal is agreed, we should post the terms for both our mods to see :P

Okay, double post, (god will punish me for this) ------ EnFuego Very intelligent post and welcome to the BI forum, Its good for you to drop in, as we like to encourage historical debate, and to get the word from visitors so that we can craft this mod with a genuine community spirit. As regards to rag tag men, you are entirely correct, the basic confederates we have included, have approximately 21 generic variations of infantry, 21! I believe this will be unparalleled to other mods, and this includes men with clothing varieties, hats, armaments and with and without (barefeet) shoes. As regards to the exotic regiments, naturally these are of a more singular character (unit wise) than they would be historically, particularly for the rebel side, but for sake of variety in particular for campaigns, and the fame of those regiments, (and their narrative potential for mission makers) we believe including them is vital. Can you post some pics of the Tennessee 1st infantry Tennessee 9th mounted calvary Louisiana fighting tigers Also, we are not bound by regiments (this is to all of you) brigades or etc so suggestions are fine so long as we have a unique look. Would it not rock if you could divide some by Reb states lol, (in the vehicle class) but that would be a bit too much lol... (maybe in the groups u could have it instead) ---------- TO JOSH A lot of the VMI I have seen, look pretty much like regulars, bar they wear scarves and have some other particulars, if you have any requests to expand that with your clothing suggestions, stick up some pics etc let us see -------------BIV Confederate Marines are a possibility based however only on whether we get any reb ships complete etc. But its a possibility I will happily include. ----------------------------------------------------------- Our mods greatest strength is probably the quality and performance of our units, so we can include more without killing system resources (they have great lods etc) so its all good Now I will in a few weeks be making a special beta unit test team, for all you loyal cadres, (don't go asking yet tho my comrades) I will post when the time has come Now, I will post some pics soon of cool stuff in development!

UNION 5th New York (Zoauves) 14th Brooklyn (Zoauves) 18th Massachusetts* 39th New York* 20th New York* Marines* 1st Carolina Colours* Irish Brigade* 148th Pennsylvania Volunteers* Iron Brigade CONFEDERATE 2nd Maryland (Zoauves) Wheat's Tigers (Zoauves) 11th Virginia* Pennsylvania Volunteers 115th (Zoauves) Orphan Brigade* Virginia Military Institute* 4th Texas Volunteer Infantry* Okay matie Iv'e added it to the mix, and yep as regards to ships, I think there may be a few more actually, I'm trying to organise a deal with a chap to get some more. We have to get infantry and stuff done first of course, but rest assured, I'm into a wide variety of arms hehe, specially for the campaign etc. Biv you have done very well, I want you to consider yourself a member of House Divided lol Also Harley has been doing a lot of top secret work muhahaha and deserves commendation Overall our team is working well, lt hunter has some great models we will be texturing soon too that i look forward to sharing some pics of in the coming weeks
-
Well yeah based on that logic... lol But bear in mind my trusty friend, that the confederates had far less uniformal appearances than the UNION, i.e. their supplies, and the individual fads of states in the confederacy led to an even wider divirsity of uniforms. In anycase, although outnumbered, I would not say that the two armies were not basically, both 'big' and should have an enqual amount of exotic regiments, (we are representing bearing in mind, an extreme fraction from both armies of what actually was out there)
-
Here's a two sec conversion of my french guy, um my mod can always do with some help, so perhaps we could do a deal hehe to swap some work over in exchanges, i could do some stuff u guys cant or dont want too lol, and some of ur guys could help me? Good luck anyway chaps looking good!
-
Yup so technically gents, we are doing alright in terms of the UNION based on the suggestions thus far, so lets have 4 more Confederate regiments
-
Cheers they do look good! Right okay lets try and make a list of what has been added or will be added thus far; UNION 5th New York  (Zoauves) 14th Brooklyn  (Zoauves) 18th Massachusetts* 39th New York* 20th New York* Marines* 1st Carolina Colours* Irish Brigade* 148th Pennsylvania Volunteers* Iron Brigade CONFEDERATE 2nd Maryland   (Zoauves) Wheat's Tigers  (Zoauves) 11th Virginia* Pennsylvania Volunteers 115th (Zoauves) Orphan Brigade* Virginia Military Institute*

Alright just to bombard you with more replies (and why not its our thread after all) Here is a list of the firearms I intend to add, bearing in mind however, that muskets and carbines, while different (only actually look so' different) That said also, the old code had only ONE class of ammo, for all muskets, so the AI would fire at the same ranges, and all would travel at the same speed, (incidentally dispersion too tho not related to ammo of course) Anyway to cut a long story short, these varieties of muskets done, and about to be done, will have diverse and interesting effects on gameplay, and hence are more relevant than you may at first imagine. Secondly they I believe will add an enormous wealth of weaponry that will provide our mod great depth. It may even make the collection and use of different firearms interesting. --- More Carbines Colt Long Arms Richmond Carbine Morse Carbines Chapman Musketoon Terry Pattern Carbine (interesting early bolt action) Tarpley Carbine Starr Cavalry Carbine Maynard Carbine Merril Carbine Burnside Carbine (so burnside was good for something) --- Muskets & Rifles (many of these muskets will give the rebs much variety) BUT AGAIN I SAY, this artwork cleverly shares resources, so we want have lag for this ok Remington Rifle - (a peculiar choice to some but...) Silver Plate Henry Rifle (as opposed to earlier bronze we have) Belgian Pattern 1842 Rifle Kerr's Patent Rifle Palmetto Armory Model 1842 Flintlock (antique 1820 style musket) --- Pistols Model 1836 Flintlock (lt hunter did a great model for this) Colt Army 1848 Pocket Revolver 1849 Webley  (not uncommon during the war believe it or not) Richmond Rifle-Musket Fayetteville Rifle Many other pistols were made by small arms or designers with names less reconisable, and some of these which look particularly attractive may be included also. Anyway don't panic in thinking that we're gonna spend like the next 10 years making all these guns, in fact these will be quicker than you imagine, and are taking place to occupy the time of some of our junior addon makers who are having to wait while i reconstruct the code of our mod (from our shared cwmod roots) to something wholley different and more efficient (getting rid of all the extra pbos, merging etc) --- TO HUNTER Great stuff, and of course Hunter i should add gentleman has made a marvelous 'DICTATOR' siege mortor, and a smaller Caehorn Mortar models that look great, and that we will be texturing soon, (almost completing our replacements for artillery.) http://www.thelegendbegins.com/weapons_of_tremors4.html#Gatlinggun

Lol, yeah okay well i'll check out about including those boy's you mentioned, after all if ya had some family members who served So no probs mate, still tho that leaves us with 14? doesnt it to go? As regards to AKs lol, we'll I'd get my head chewed off my the historians, and even worse than good ol' historians, by wannabe pretentious scum who'd love every opportunity to make my life that one inch more miserable just so they can sip their starbuck coffees in glee, thinking of me etc. *ahem* oh... well anyway of course when the mod is released, you can remove their guns in the editor and replace them with AK's for counterfactual history scenarios such as those popular novels you mention ALSO a thank you to I44, that has lent us some scripting advice (that another ww2 mod which shall not be mentioned was quite scummy to our request for help) but good old I44, so 3 cheers for them, cos they made my smoke scripting that little bit easier
-
Wellllll okay dokey I'll check these out too Righty well just a wee report on progress of the mod! First of all things are going absolutely great, we have in the team enough to complete the first phase in as much, that we have the members with the skill required to see it through! To make a mod self sufficient is a big aim, and we've achieved that however, we are also recieving help from some mods (and not from others) most notably the big mods that we go rattling our paper cup too lol. Anyway! Here is a current weapon List of things so far (we took all the old pbos that were disparate and recoded it into 1 single weapon pbo) ALL 4x of the US ARMY MODEL MUSKET ARE INCLUDED 1816 1842 1855 1861 The Lorenz, the Enfield, Enfield Musketoon, WhitField, Sharps Berdan Rifle Sharps Carbine Spencer Repeating Rifle Spencer Repeating Carbine Shotgun Henry Rifle Winchester Remgington Pistol Colt Le-Mat Flintlock Pistol Derringer So um, theres a few more too, but basically there will be approximately 35 firearms, all nicely detailed but using a special system of encoding and texturing (nothing special to mod makers just common sense however) that means resources will be shared between the models, so for all the depth and variety, there will be no compromise in performance. Of the other firearms to be included, are a hose of other carbines and muskets.
-
lol hey ees why dont u go find me another regiment u ferret watching fiend that u are!
-
Cool BIZ we'll include those, 14 TO GO Btw chaps, what's a good name for these US Army Model (see year) musket, Are these all variants of Springfield? 1816 1842 1855 1861 Springfield Musket
-
Excellent work boys! Good work in particular BIZ, thats excellent, well yep that sounds like a great regiment, i will include those as well, I will also include the IRISH Brigade as well, that fought famously at Fredericksburg, I will include some units incidentally with winter frock coats too I think Thats great tho BIZ, that 5 we have, only 15 to go! I'd suggest you all get to work, as its a great chance for you to get your own fav regiment included in game!
