The AI would probably crash into them all the time, and modelling the wires and their own kind of "ragdoll" physics effect could take a lot of CPU power...

Heh heh, that always gets a smile out of me when I watch the news. Just imagine if the U.S started a full-scale war on the MILF. Oh, the jokes would be endless and the troops wouldn´t have to come up with insulting nicknames for the enemy Anyway, good to have some input from a guy who knows what he´s talking about.

*Sigh* A Delta piloting a Littlebird...and I thought Novalogic couldn´t stoop any lower Well, at least the graphics are nice.

*bump* Any updates?

Ahem, he can read your posts so you could just ask him instead of referring to him in the 3rd person, m8

Well, you could make a new sitting animation/cargo proxy. Agree. But altough I don´t know much about animations, all the ones I´ve seen so far are static (immobile). Is it possible to do moving custom animations? It would look a bit wierd if everyone in the cargo space aren´t even breathing

Are there any Apaches that really look like that? I doubt it. Someone post a link if I´m wrong. If not, IMHO it´s just plain ugly. Besides, the model and cpp needs some modifying to make it realistic, and as I understand it this is just a retexture. A cannon with a lot more ammo, non-nuke rockets and Hellfires that don´t fire on full automatic would be nice. Give me the BAS AH-64D Longbow any time over that AH-64A Terminator :P No offense to Satchel if he´s still on this board, but that just ain´t my cup o´tea.

Very cool addon, I always thought aircraft carriers in OFP were impossible to do properly. Well, the AI can´t walk on it and it seriously needs some tectures but otherwise it works relatively well if you consider that you had to wrestle with the dreaded OFP collision detections system. Keep up the good work

[FLAME] I think you've misunderstood me entirely. Next time include the whole of my quote and read my damn post again throughly. Thats exactly what I said - it would be useful in urban areas on the other hand. Can you read? I never said that. I said it would be better to land the chopper for a quick insert instead of a fast-rope. I think you've misunderstood my post and thus need to learn to read thoroughly. So you'd rather just take your chopper(s) and just fly overhead in the cities, fastrope, get civilians killed, and then you get slaughtered? Pretty neat idea... :\[/FLAME] Ok, I think we have some kind of communication problem here. I don´t understand your reasoning at all and I think you´re contradicting your own statements. You misunderstood my post too, but I won´t flame you because of that. Just fogettaboutit, eh?

Fast-roping useless in OFP? Recent fast-roping scripts have saved me from hours of trying to make the stupid helicopter AI properly land in cities and added 300% coolness to my urban missions. You wouldn´t believe the headaches I´ve suffered when I´ve tried to insert my troops into cities! Why would anyone fast-rope onto an airport, anyway? I think you´ve misunderstood the purpose of fast-roping and are calling it useless because of that. And the urban areas might not be too big, but of course you´re going to fight a lot in them. Who cares about conquering a patch of grass in the middle of nowhere compared to a population center?

Quick question: I´m desperate for remakes of BIS units since they´re all essential (m113, BMP, soldiers) but they ALL SUCK! So would it be realistic for me to replace all BIS U.S soldiers with these, either in 1985 or 2003 situations?

Why do all the infantry unit have that bug...?
Gollum1 replied to Lupus-WD-'s topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
OFP is perfect if you can´t think of worse bugs than this Seriously, it flashes by so fast that I hardly notice it and I see it maybe twice a month? -
Because there´s been a shitload of wars and peacekeeping operations there in the 20th century, and it´s almost never covered in games (except for northern africa which can be clumped together with WW2 and terrorist games)

My Finnish box says K-15, the next stage would be K-18.

Serious suggestion after seeing vietcong
Gollum1 replied to frag's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
No no, just a puff of course. On a Finnish Rk-62 assault rifle (mechanical copy of AK-47) -
As opposed to you standing in the air and turning all red when you touch the ground like you do now?

Have you played Raven Shield? It uses a similiar system that I think is even more intuitive. When your crosshairs hit a door a small icon appears in the bottom part of your screen. In this case, it´s an icon of a door and it´s a bit grayed out. This means that you can´t reach the door yourself and you can only order the AI to open it. When you are right next to the door the icon brightens and you can open the door yourself. So if you´re going to order the AI to open it you hold down the space bar while your crosshairs are on the door and a circular menu appears, with four actions for the AI: -Open door -Open&clear -Open&grenade -Open, grenade&clear By slightly moving your mouse, each option is highlighted. When you release the space bar, the highlighted option is selected. If you selected the grenade option, another menu appears where you select a flash, frag, tear gas or smoke grenade. When you release the space bar the AI executes the order and expertly clears the building. This can be done in 3 seconds and I think it´s a perfect system for CQB.

Serious suggestion after seeing vietcong
Gollum1 replied to frag's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Another cool thing about VC, you know when the enemy are taking cover behind rocks they pop in and out of cover very quickly. Sometimes the muzzle flash and recoil of your weapon makes you unsure if you actually hit your target or if he popped back into cover. The you slowly walk toward the rock to confirm your kill and if he pops out again you almost have a heart attack I think the accuracy and recoil of the weapons in VC is just right and would fit well into OFP. A fault that VC and OFP have in common are big muzzle flashes. IRL, you rarely see a muzzle flash in broad daylight, just a puff of smoke and sometimes a partial flash. I know from personal experience. -
You can do that right now, Red Star Studios is doing that with their T-55 pack.
-
Maybe if BIS wants to lose a shitload of sales because their game´s restricted for anyone under the age of 18(okay, so it worked for GTA but that´s more mainstream. A lot more.) I wouldn´t play games if they were exactly like real wars, anyway. You see some civilians snuffed in OFP as it is, how much is enough for your sick mind!?

Serious suggestion after seeing vietcong
Gollum1 replied to frag's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I know what you mean, altough the AI might only at first glance seem "unbelievable", they practically have no idea what they´re doing, they just run around in random directions and sometimes advance in your general direction But I know that cover plays a very large role in Vietcong, as in real life. In OFP you can´t take cover anywhere except the occasional rock or sandbag. -
Akm74 released beta of bmd3,btr80,bmp3
Gollum1 replied to Viriato's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I only just now noticed that I have some white LOD textures too, but only on the BMD3 and only on very long ranges, something like 1300m? -
Maybe if you compare it to OFP, otherwise I think it´s one of the coolest games I´ve ever played. It was something new and, arguably, revolutionary.

Just bought "The Animatrix" DVD, and it´s great. I particularly liked "The second renaissance", it was really touching. Some of the atrocities committed in Pt.1 were really disgusting. At least the machines get a kind of revenge in pt.2... I also liked "matriculated" which had some stunningly beautiful, yet playful and imaginitive visuals. I didn´t like the animation or story in "Kid´s story", though. And "the final flight of the osiris" (the 3D, Final Fantasy style animation)is just a pointless, boring and unimaginitive action sequence. Still, if you´re a Matrix fan, rent it/buy it!
