    You are right! I think this is the tank commander's thermal imaging turret and it is part of the M1A2 package. I stand corrected. Looks like there is some Army stuff in FP2 after all.

    M1A2 Abrams is not used by the marines. STGN No it isn't. But the M1A1 HA is. edit: Unless you see some detail on it that makes it an M1A2 of course, I'm no expert.

    Where do you see Army? The only man with woodland camo is holding an M16A4, so he can well be a Marine who hasn't been issued MARPAT yet. True, he could also be an Army soldier with an M16A4, they have been used in small amounts by the Army, but considering how Marine-heavy every single other shot is I'm leaning toward him being a Marine. I'm going to assume the U.S units in OFP2 are USMC only for the moment. The hell? OFP2 isn't the game event of the century that requires several standalone games to build hype up, you know. I've never even heard of such a marketing strategy, that's what demos are for. The three 'Armed Assault' pictures surely aren't OFP2 unless BIS decided to go cheap and reuse all the objects and animations that they made from 2000 (check that ugly-ass M60 out! You can use it in OFP right now you know.). It's OFP Xbox, no doubt about it.

    Yeah, it sounds really boring and like every other 'realistic' military game (or B-movie) out there. Even Operation Flashpoint is better, at least it's a bit memorable.

    So the pics on Flashpoint2.com ("armed assault") have: Old weapons, old aware animation, old vehicles, overall 1985 equipment on the soldiers. It looks a lot like OFP1 except for the soldiers. US Army. I think these are probably new OFP Xbox screenshots. And the E3 pics have: MARPAT, M16A4, UH-1N, M249, M1A1 HA, HMMWV with M2 or MK19 etc, typically modern USMC equipment. The graphics look much more detailed with a lot of shaders, normal mapping and vegetation. These are Flashpoint 2 screens.

  9. I agree with Clausewitz's naming suggestions. Another thing I noticed is that the AI seem to fire the PKM on semiauto even at medium ranges, might want to check that out. Personally I think that all MG addons should exclusively have a burst fire mode as that is how machinegunners are trained trained in real life, to fire in bursts. If one wants full auto you just fire a lot of bursts in a row, and who ever fired an MG semiauto? The LSR US wep pack and FDF mod both have this feature, and I just think it feels damn nice.
  10. PKM and SVD use 7.62x54R, not 7.62x39, please fix this. And some weapons aren't addable in the editor, for example the RHS_AKMSPBO1 and RHS_AKMSGP25PBO1 apparently aren't found in the config, some others give me MAAM errors too but I guess you fixed that. I remember this from the Marine Assault Pack thread; the Russian GP grenade launchers have complex sights that couldn't be properly used in OFP, so some addons don't have an aiming option for it. I think in MAP it was replaced by some simple lines meant to simulate a grenadier's skill in estimating distances.

    Both grandfathers in the Finnish army, one as an infantryman (was stuck in enemy territory after an assault once and managed to sneak back, very hungry, a few days later) and the other as a truck repairman (originally an infantryman, but engineering education + bad hearing got him the position).

    Nice, I liked the first one but it just about gave me grey hairs at times, it was so hard. It's really a puzzle game.
  13. At least the RHS_AKMS_folded and RHS_AKMSPBO1 mentioned in the readme cannot be added in the editor. The soldiers' shadows are also messed up. I was making a mission involving clearing the path for a tank when I noticed that none of the soldiers can disarm mines, an engineer is needed. These bugs and especially the PK sights bug are seriously hampering my ability to play with these.
  14. The PK and SVD ammo is named wrong, those weapons fire 7.62x54 mm in real life, not 7.62x39 mm. Also, there's a naming error with the MI units, the Flora version of the grenadier is named Rifleman Grenadier and the GSR version is named just Grenadier.
  15. These units are top quality, but to be honest I don't understand all the bugs...still I'll be using these from here on out, will be fun to convert Resistance and Red Hammer campaigns to this. I like the Gorka-S camo and the hoods and face masks for GRU, nice touch. The overall technical quality is great. I'd like to propose some changes, besides the mentioned bugs: - In the next update to the crew pack, the RHS - Soldiers category could be eliminated from the editor since they're the only ones taking it up right now. - The 'Camouflage helmet' option could be a hidden selection since it doesn't have any real functionality besides decoration and it clutters up the vital action menu. - I can't say I like the method of putting the camouflage type after every unit name. The unit names are visible ingame via radio messages and the command view and they can become really REALLY long and break the immersion, a bit funny to see your Resistance buddies in the heat of battle report the fifth "Motorized Infantry LMG Rifleman (Cap) (Leather boots) (Flora)". I think it would be better to just name them for example MI Rifleman or just Rifleman, with a 2 after the name if they have a cap or something, or a letter like (G) or (F) designating the camo. Better to keep it simple. For example the (Misc) in front of some soldiers' names is a really bad idea too, feels like you're testing something in the editor instead of being immersed in a mission when you see a guy with (Misc) in front of his name. Why not just leave that part out of their names, they still have different names than the others. (Light Machine Gun Rifleman btw? Shouldn't it be Light Machinegunner or Automatic Rifleman?) - The rifle sights needn't be blurred from Earl's originals. - IMO the colour difference between 5.45 mags and the wooden furniture of AK-74 and RPK-74 is too pronounced. - Don't like the SVD muzzle flash. It looks cartoonish. - Does the Russian army really still use TT-33 pistols? If they do, OK, but for example the MI officer with cap starts with no ammo for it. - I liked the slightly sharper sound of the AK-74 in the old crew pack more than the current sound. - Maybe you could coop with ORCS and use their RPG pack instead? It's really the best out there IMO. - For example the PK muzzle flash has the dreaded problem of changing colour according to the sun's position, so it can become shadowed like an object, ie. become dark and ugly. Just some nitpicks, it's still a great pack, now off to play with it ->

    Great trenches, I was right to postpone a WW2 FDF mission until the release...my fake trenches and korsus made out of BIS base walls lowered into the ground pale in comparison.

    I'm guessing the FDF team will be innovative as always and hope they will include a WW2 interface and look to the mod. Seeing that Seiko watch, modern map and notebook and especially the radio chatter in combat can break the immersion. Really, really looking forward to this.

  24. Hell yeah, bravo, really nice work Laser! I especially like the updated weapon sounds and head models, the new heads make OFP feel really fresh and new. Nice touch on the automatic camo paint for the spotter units too, I've never seen anything like it. The M60E4 is a really cool new weapon. If I'd have to find some niggly problems I'd say that the Delta tan helmets should be less matte in colour, they don't seem to fit in with the rest of the body and quality, plus all the RL photos of SF helmets without textile covers I've seen show them as at least a bit more shiny.

    You caught me, I've only really played JA2 but I've finished it three times. Arulco in OFP would be cool, it has bombed out cities, poorer and wealthier cities, ancient ruins, a prison, underground research laboratory, mines (and possibly some creepy crawlies beneath), shining capital city, two airstrips, industrial areas... A Tonal-type mercenary campaign in this setting would be heaven for me.
