A Finnish patrolman ferrying along supplies and weapons on cold Christmas eve, 1939... FDF 1.4
-
Right, some pics... I think this driver might be bad news... Hicks with his latest kills Kenji hit these poor bastards with three molotov's cocktails, they didn't stand a chance. That Gulf of Lahnavalkama mission was cool as hell, good organisation, marksmanship, flying and courage all around!
-
edit: I am a dumbass, ignore
-
I'd like to suggest the missions Bloody Christmas and Gulf of Lahnavalkama for this night, I've tested them and they're very cool. Both available from FDF depot.
-
But I bet you'll still be wearing hearing protection? What a wuss. Only if the reservists shooters are out sighting in their Glocks and M4-clones. Those things are hella nice.
-
Bought this over the summer, TOZ-78-04 .22, very nice and good value too. I'm going to paint it to be more "tactical" when I get around to it. Going to get a bipod too, if it won't be too expensive. Didn't get a suppressor since .22s are just so wussy with them.

A gift from the OFP gods!
-
So are there any missions included at all?
-
Nogova had a desert too. The pics' content is pretty nice although they could be brighter and clearer. I'm surprised that an OFP engine 'feature' would be so prominent in a promo screen, does that crashed blackhawk look like it's half-hovering in the air to anyone else? And why doesn't that pic have any grass and small rocks, I thought that would be everywhere...just a basic ground texture in that shot. Nice grass and shadows on the palms, though.

I really liked the video, nice choice for the sountrack. From the map overview I guess you'll go for a realistic campaign, this is always welcome.

Wow, I am really pleasantly surprised! When people make these kind of "special" mods with non-humanoids the animations often look cheesy and stupid, but the dinos in this mod actually look and move great. You really panic when you're being chased by a big Albertosaurus. The island looks very lush too, I like the bright green colour of the vegetation. I could feel lots of mission making potential when just fooling around in the editor. Great work on this beta, I will be sure to DL future versions.

Well apparently Snakeman placed a hell of a lot of MP missions in the regular Missions-folder, that's why some missions don't have overviews and are cleary MP...

NEW Interview with Bohemia Interactive on ArmA...
Gollum1 replied to XeLSiS's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
That is desert MARPAT camo used by the USMC, not Army ACUPAT. MARPAT has been in use for a few years already. -
That's saddening to hear. Thanks for all your work anyway.
-
I apologize if you took offense, I really like the sound pack in general, but I've heard FALs and G3s firing 7.62x51 in real life and I don't think the sound in the pack sounds anything like it, let alone like any rifle. I think this video describes the sound the best. Great pack.
-
Thanks for this, I hated the old sounds and recoil. The new "laser gun" sound for the M14 in the community sound pack is a bit lol, though.
-
In the Finnish Pelit magazine that came out today the interviewer had asked Marek at E3 about the enemy. "without blinking an eye, Marek replied: "from what direction does the enemy usually come?" So, yeah, it'll be U.S vs. Russians, the two sides seen in the screens.

I expressed myself badly, I mean of course the loader will carry the bulk of the rounds in a real AT team but it is very much possible for the gunner to carry several rounds, and since a true loader/gunner AT team system is impossible in OFP (especially before Resistance when you couldn't drop rounds) the CG gunner in OFP should be able to carry more. If the CG was modeled correctly in the first place, of course. What is that huge-ass AT missile in the inventory supposed to be anyway?

To clarify, everything about the Carl Gustav except basically the model is wrong in OFP. The real CG does not fire rockets, much less guided missiles, it fires grenades. A soldier can carry many more than just one round like in OFP. No US forces except the Rangers (IIRC) use it today, and certainly not in 1985. The M47 Dragon would have been a much more correct choice for AT units in OFP. IRL it is quite uneffective against modern armor, not a T-72-frontal-armor-killing one hit wonder weapon like in OFP. The Soviet AT4 does not exist in shoulder-launched form like in OFP either, and the tank damage modelling is pretty messed up (LAWs killing BMPs from the front causing massive explosions without exception?), but that's another issue.

I think both U.S Marines and Army (including Army SF IIRC) are supposed to be playable in OFP2. You've seen all the Russians in the pictures, they'll probably be flying it, but I also wonder what role they will play. From all the interviews I have gotten the impression that you're handling an insurgency in a foreign country.
-
Well, there are new vehicles in some screenshots, like the Littlebirds, and the Unimog and Land Rover are new too. I really don't see the sense in adding those two vehicles in Australian camo schemes except for them being ready for VBS already, the only explanation would be that the ADF is around in Armass. Really strange...

Armed Assault is not OFP version anything, it's Armed Assault, a standalone game. Even if OFP reached 2.0 it would not be OFP 2, they are separate products. Or is Doom 3 version 3.xx and HL2 version 2.xx? Nope. BIS is giving away games as presents now!? I thought they were in the money-making business!

I have the same sound problem with my SB Live, the weapon sounds are extremely muffled, no mods involved.
