Finnish Defence Forces Modification 1.3
Gollum1 replied to feersum.endjinn's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The desert camouflage? Well, there have been Finnish soldiers in Eritrea/Ethiopia. They may still be there, but I am not one hundred percent sure of that I would guess that they are currently using it in Afghanistan... edit: On second thought, the contingent there is very small and I've only seen pics with regular camo, they are definitely currently using it in Ethiopia and Eritrea though. -
Aah, the wonders of the Internet!

I would claim that humans do, on the grounds that we could plausibly (?) destroy every termite on the planet with an engineered virus or somesuch if we had to. The termites couldn't organize themselves to destroy us. Or could they Even if we couldn't now, human technology advances all the time while termites stay the same. They'll get what's coming to them one day...

Yes, because of outside circumstances, mind you... (Just playing the devil's advocate here) An interesting note is that the Aryan baby 'factories' run by the SS also produced a rate of handicapped and unhealthy babies, something Himmler didn't want to hear about because it didn't fit his vision... I don't think it could have had a noticeable effect on the chart, especially when it was first invented.

It's OK, it's alright, it's over now.

The spice must flow.

Parasites are very smart and hardy creatures, we just need some more space.

You're confusing 'country' with 'state'. Your politicians are the state, the territory occupied by the nation you belong to is your country, i.e the country is more like your nation than your state. edit: sp

Glad we got that cleared up....or.... No i didn't. Yes you did. This can just as easily be applied to dying for something that you 'really, really love.' Dying for it doesn't change anything any more than dying for your country does, Wow, Western civilisation is nearing the end of its line when you hear stuff like this. Funny because life here in Belgium is very nice without all the weird and dangerous folks you find in the Wild Wild West and all the war in the East. I guess you are right, we are insane, war-hungry gun-loving freaks.......... *°*sssssssmell the irony*°* Now if you'll excuse me i'm gonna smash my head through my monitor... What? Typical rambling, where did I call you war-hungry freaks and why are you hurting yourself? I have no idea where you got this. So do you want to defend your country or your loved ones? Make up your mind. Unless you consider your entire country filled with loved ones...that would be peculiar since you don't want to die for the country's soul, i.e its culture or ideals, but still want to defend Belgium in particular... Nope. Hahahaha what the fuck? I feel like I'm replying to three people at once

True, but I think irrelevant, there are many more actually successful aggressors in history to take as example. There should be and I agree, but I don't think the actual justification of a war has much to do with dying for a country, if you die for its interests then you die for it, yes? Yes,that was how it worked between nations in past times obviously inhereted from the rules of nature as the bigger fish always got to eat the little one but after centuries of bloodshed we evolved and realised that the weak diserves protection and he should aspire to keep peace be it by mutually assured distruction. I don't think humanity has had time to 'evolve' during the time of warring nations, just a few thousand years. If you strip away our fragile civilization the same natural brutality of the food chain is still there. The greatest wars of history occurred just sixty years ago, motivated by the same aggressive mentality.

So let me see, you don't care about basic human rights like freedom of expression, fair trial or racial equality? You apparently don't care about a democratic form of government either. All these are upheld by countries and their people, including your own. Wow, you managed to contradict yourself only one sentence later! So you mean there ISN'T anything at all to die for? You are sending some very mixed messages here. Wow, Western civilisation is nearing the end of its line when you hear stuff like this. For once I feel it is justified to launch into mode and say that freedom is NOT free and you wouldn't be typing to the Internet from your cozy home if there weren't patriots on guard to defend your people, your rights and your way of life. A quote comes to mind:
-
But what if the country's cause is aggression, as Nazi Germany's was? Are you still dying for a 'wrong' cause then or your country? I ask because I see you are using aggression as a 'wrong' cause. Aggression can server the interests of your country for example economically and defensively (heh, now there's a contradiction) very well if done right, hence dying in such a war could also be defined as dying for your country, maybe for the future economical well-being and safety of your people. The war needn't be justified, i.e unprovoked according to your definition, to be in your country's interests.

No, then Steam will give you the option to run in offline mode.

The Big Moment is here...The third instalment of the film version of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy is having its world premiere tomorrow Dec.17. Please share all your opinions in this thread. I have read the books three times, once in Finnish, once in Swedish and once in English and I own the Extended Edition DVDs, so I'm a bit of a fan. I'm going to see it 00.03 tonight (they only really get to show it Dec.17 so...) with some of my friends. Going to have to drink lots of Red Bull to keep me awake! Wish me luck. Edit: And yes, we all know that there is an animated version also, so no need to be a smartass.

Indeed. I find it perversely amusing that people keep talking about dying for their country. Is "killing for your country" any less noble? Hehe, very true, for example the phrase "our brave servicemen fighting and dying for their country" isn't very symmetrical, what about the more logical "killing and dying"? It isn't used, because it sounds too distasteful, altough it is entirely true. Just use 'killing and dying' and admit that killing the opponent is a part of war, I'll respect that, but apparently it is terribly embarrassing to admit that your soldiers are killers. The hypocrisy is evident...

This is the coolest idea ever, I hope you can pull it off believably with the OFP engine. Shrimp and crustaceans overall are damn cool. MBT?

I'm pretty sure it was called puolustusvoimat (=Defence forces) even before WW2. Well technically no, but Germany did send a large Stuka force to operate out of Finland and provide CAS for Finnish and German troops on that front. The Stukas were very effective at destroying Russian tanks and made life a lot easier for the ground troops.

Finnish independence day today! FDF mod Unsung sky

That looks almost photorealistic. Truly, grass and other basic vegetation is the way of future maps in OFP, like John's winter island and this one, I've never seen flat ground like on Nogova in real life.

Everyone I know use Msn, it's kinda the standard. Everyone at our school including me use MSN too...

Can't wait to get my hands on it!

I haven't seen the video, but you mean static MG's won't fire at you while you carry an object in front of you? I noticed it the day it came out and used it to my advantage several times. So silly to walk toward an MG using a tyre as a shield, looking through it at the enemy all the time. I don't know why everyone bashes HL2's AI though, I thought that especially the Combine were quite intelligent and aggressive. *shrug* Maybe I've been lucky. It seems that AI is the least of HL2's problems.

Jagged Alliance 2 isn't included in the top 100!? For shame, for SHAME!

Vaasa, Finland.

Not the same thing, you have to 'stop' the helicopter (actually replace the vehicle with a 100% immobile platform with a script) to be able to walk about in it and shoot. Still cool though, just a bit easy to fall out accidentally with the OFP engine.
