    Story book more evenly, please..

Oh cool, here's a decent looking video of ppl playing multiplayer. Â Big file though but I think you would like this. OFP Campers Video Edit:: Um wow, I never play ofp like that . NM, at you play like how you like to play k?

    After death

I didn't know that in other SP games you could spectate after death. But in multiplayer games there is the seagull spectation option very specific to the mission. Plus when you die in SP the death screen usually shows who shot you and his position. Maybe we should try to define what you are talking about.

I play at a massive resolution like 1600, maybe that's the problem. Â Even 400m guys aren't too hard to see; hitting requires tons of ammo though (use like 10 bullets). Also I use 900m fog. default Maybe we should have a fraps film festival showing us playing missions. Oh, I know, hit the right mouse button to point out enemies. Â But I know what you mean when the squad is ordered to do stupid movements. Â In the Pathfinder mission, the squad is ordered to hold fire and run across a field! Â Now THAT is messed up. Â I have to give shitloads of covering fire for anyone to survive that bout of idiocy. Â Notice how user missions make use of the "danger" mode for ai. Actually I can sympasize, it's just that the m16 isn't that hard to shoot with. Â EDIT:: actually 400m is flat hard. Â I meant that in the Ambush mission you are engaging guys at 250m. When you line up the m16 sights, put the target above the "tail," not in the middle. And in the Ambush mission I play "point man," slowly moving ahead of my team, bush to bush, shooting only to defend myself and calling out targets. Then your teammates hit the dirt and don't kamakaze. Hmm, maybe OFP isn't newbie friendly We should have optional training "challenges" to teach basic tricks.

    After death

This is done in multiplayer via script. (you are a seagull and can bother your teammies) In singleplayer this is done via a script ala Facile Ground by Sui but I don't see why this feature in sp is important to waste dev time for.

Wow, you are hopeless. Â Sorry, but at least you should be able to do Ambush (until the end trigger doesn't work anyways) Â As for interdiction, it's all in your head. Â You shouldn't have to engage in combat with the freaking tanks or patrols. Â Just hide in bushes when the tank comes, plant a satchel, and repeat. Plus at this point you should know how to stay undetected and how to scan the area with you binocs I mean, damn. Â I shoot better w/out a sniper rifle. Â Just think that the m16 is zeroed in at 400m. Â Um... did you play the demo before you bought the game? sorry

    Terrain engine examples

well, i know but maybe they can make the "bumping" more efficient. Or I can get that new ATI card I want.

    Money

plus the mortal and expensive nature of the OFPs doesn't require an extra money counter to make you feel that you need to maintain and desperately preserve your "toys" I mean, I don't waste that russian car because I got it for free. Â

    Terrain engine examples

very impressive, never seen those angles. Well, OFP2 needs bumpy terrain and even more cover so the devs can't be that lazy.

Will ofp2 look like americas army?

Yes, scalability is very important, expecially when you play Airplane missions. It's impressive how well ofp functions with low lods far away

Will ofp2 look like americas army?

well, the modability of graphics should be versatile like having good arm models w/out heavy clothing. Look at the Nam Pack, look at the wrists.

Retaliation campaign now available in English

Maybe it's just quickness, that farmer completely "blew me away." The next retry I was running as far away from that place as I could.

How to end the ambush single mission

oh yeah! and the end heli extraction scene doesn't stop! What happened to this map?

    Ofp2: simulation or arcade

Yeah, especially when "bastard johnny twins" ran me over with a Jeep while blowing my head off with the machine gun at full speed. Â Jeeze, they came so suddenly... Â The Retaliation campaign can be so hard at times...

Will ofp2 look like americas army?

Well, it would be awsome if the quality is like BAS's stuff or the Marine Assualt pack. But with actual hands and Hi-res textures for everything. Like in resistance. But hands are terrible. Thank god for glove textures. I say fix the wierd graphic problems, and improve the best things like far viewing distance and don't worry about the mediocre stuff unless there's a great idea to implement.

oh dude, cool. But that addon pack is huge... and few missions too.

Though I don't like Call of Duty's AI or the MOH series'. Â Half-Life's ai was fun but it always seemed that COH or MOH the ai just did the same damn tactics. Â HL was good because, like in Flashpoint, the ai made its own decisions without the excessive orders of the mission maker. Â AI is so much more unique and fun to play against when more initiative is given to the ai to make completly random choices. Look at all the "evil johnny" threads in these Flashpoint Forums! Non-scripted ai isn't easy to get working but the effort was worth it. I don't think EA has anything on BI. They just bastardize all that perfectly good info they learn from that Marine guy they hire to "immerse" the designers. Maybe BI should take a field trip and sign up for one of that guy's camps.

well, I don't want one rambo to control all the functions of the tank. Â Crew weapons like tanks shouldn't be too complex in this type of game. Â Just have each guy have a limited role. Â Plus we don't have to make it 100% realistic. Â For instance, on an artillery peice, the map reader clicks on the target on the map and then the "gunner" would get guidelines on where to aim. Â Simple Â

well, a huge improvement to nvgs would be to make them customizable in a mod. I saw a thread on ofpec that the nvg fuzziness is hardcoded and can't be modified. While the nvgs in ofp1 were realistic for the 80s (yes, they did have them, I say the same model in some pre-1987 book on Marines) people like BAS couldn't make more clearer and effective goggles. Now we could nit-pick at how nvgs detect heat for guns or percieve the luminous nature of different materials differently but that's a whole different discussion.

well, probably that was the wrong number figure but I made a few (really crappy) HL maps. Â I said HL's ai is scripted because the ai grunts ect, need the ai nodes to be programed into the map. Â If the map does not have ai nodes in the maps, the ai grunts can only shoot and throw grenades. Â They don't know where to move unless ai nodes are placed on the ground. Â The ai in Half-life was advanced and never repetitive, but in every decent HL map, you needed to place ai nodes for movement, which I call scripting. Â The female ninja jump thing is a great example because you had to place "jump nodes" for them to know that it's a good idea to jump to a higher level. FYI, I count "unscripted ai" as ai where you can place the ai somewhere and it would have all it's features without extra information nodes in the level. Â Like in Flashpoint, for the end user. (thinking about it a little more, 1% of the permanent ai is scripted, but that's only for movement, the grunts' knowledge of teamwork is still in action even if they can't move inside a map.)

    Savegames

Maybe the save code should be documented in the manual! Â But people who want to see how they did (score-wise) will have to play without saves. Â Penalties for saves should just be discouraging without serious losses while the real penalties are for using the endgame cheat. Â I mean, if the mission designer can't beat their own mission, then its too hard. Â Edit:: or heheh, when you use savegame, the score you had so far before you "saved" would be reset to zero. That way, the colonel could bash you about your low score. In ofp1 the cutscenes were triggered by low scores, not cheats. You were still told off if you just laid back and let your buddies get killed. Reseting the scores would allow the "colonel blake" trigger to activate, though discharging the player seems kinda fake since you could just continue where you were "told off." He should say something like you're lame or something involving you fight like a weenie. Whatever.

btw, your UN units look cool.

    Graphics engine improvement

Well, for this sequel, I'd like to put another vote for graphics that are used for work. Â I want a focus on large playing grounds and tons of cover opportunities. Â Something like FarCry but the graphics are focused on enhancing gameplay and don't detract valuable cpu cycles from ai or places to hide behind. EDIT:: I mean make the graphics engine more efficient and scalable.

    Ai thread

In Seal Team (1993) you played the point man and could give limited orders to the team leader, who stayed in the middle. Â It was very immersing that way, because as the point man, you were in the thick of action and when you called in support or commanded teammates, you could pretend that the squad leader was following your advice. Maybe there should be an indirect command system involving the pointman. Â I think the Seals keep this system sort of right? Â EDIT:: I challenge as much people to play a little Seal Team right now. It's a super bitch to run now but with dosbox you can have sound and everything. Too bad it's glitchy as hell, I'd love a remake. It's basically the coolest Seal Simulator for its age. Of course Ebud's "Tax Man" mission is so close to that game in terms of play mechanics and awsomeness.

    Improved unit editor

yeah, maybe to encourage using crews, "special abilities" are unlocked when people like map readers, commanders, ect. mount the crew served weapon. therefore only one guy on a gun would have very limited abilities. I mean the other crew members are helping right?

    Ofp2: simulation or arcade

Even Half-life had 95% scripted ai. For a game like ofp, the worlds are too big to have scripted ai. Maybe have scripts for objects so the ai have an idea how to ustilize that cover but scripted ai isn't exactly a great solution. But who has time to put ai nodes in to the ground of miles of terrein (bleh sp.)
